Thats not a crazy temp spike. Crazy would be going from 40-50s to 95-100c doing that. Anything under 75c is pretty normal for loading apps, having downloads going etc.

Intel has the exact same tendencies when opening up stuff and downloading.

    Its absolutely normal behavior.

More then likely? No the scratch is not enough of a difference to cause a difference in thermals.

You wont be damaging your CPU by getting to 90c. They are rated to run at 95c.

In bios its under the fan profile just set it to 100%.

Or download a program called Fan Control and do it in the OS

for 200$ I would say no. Not really worth your time if youve never done that before since you are potentially buying someone elses problem.

Stop updating so damn much o.o You should not need to do that. Unless you are having issues, what exactly is the point of doing this? Most of the time these fixes are for known bugs and or QOL and other fixes. But unless you are having those issues, you dont need to keep constantly doing that.

What exactly are you doing? If you are gaming get a 7800x3D, If you are doing work  get a 7950x. Do not get the 7950x3D as its known to have issues getting it to work properly, if you dont know what you are doing its not the route to go.

If you are doing work, get a 4080 Super over the 7900xtx, if you are gaming its a toss up between the two, if you want ray tracing go Nvidia, since that 7900XTX you chose is 180$ over a MSI Gaming TRIO (get the MSI one) as that asus one doesnt perform any better then it.

Really depends on how good you are and if you are into competitive play. If you are just a casual, theres  really not much of a point over spending.

Is there a big difference? Depends on your eyes and how you handle it. I see the uplift going from 144 to 240 to 360 hz, some people its not as noticeable. The response time is better so that will be an improvement, but unless you are able to actually utilize it, not by much.

Why exactly are you doing this in the first place? Unless you are having thermal issues you dont need to change the paste for a few years. It hasnt been 3-4 years where the paste starts drying out o.o

As far as safety, its non conductive so it should be fine.

Shimejii got a reaction from Zando_ in what are all the settings you must change when you just got a new pc
Dont bother Overclocking. Just do voltage tuning. If its not your computer, dont OC. Youll be the one having to deal with all the issues that arise from that.

Otherwise besides the power settings for GPU/CPU in windows, it just comes down to what things he actually does with the computer. For the most part once you have all the drivers and such installed, thats pretty much it for casual users. You want rock solid stability with this system rather then the absolute most performance, since they are not going to notice the marginal gains that comes with that type of stuff.

Its a pretty dumb service, if you are that unable to keep track of your services, thats a huge issue that paying for ANOTHER service wont actually help. Just seems like a predatory system, it is owned by rocket afterall.

Shimejii got a reaction from Lurick in Relocating desktop to alternate room, what did Linus settle on?
Dont bother trying its Simply not worth it. You dont have the time + money + troubleshooting team that linus has to get something like this to work.

You can put it in another room and just remote in with remote desktop with something like a mini pc in the room, but dont try to run wires through the house. Quite a few people on here have tried it and its always a disaster. Its not a practical solution.

Shimejii got a reaction from 220VoltsallCore in Do games run better on 6 core 7600x than a 10 core i5 13400? becasue games are optimized for lower cores
13400 is not a traditional 10 core. Its basically 6 core+ 4 slow cores that wont be utilized by most games.

So what you should be asking are the 6 cores of the 13400 faster or slower then the 7600x 6 cores (Not really they should perform roughly the same).

Games are not Optimized for lower cores persay, its moreso that  its a usage and utilization thing. It varies Game dev to game dev, some use 2-4 cores, some use 4-6, some use as many as you can throw at them.  There is no one method to the game devs.

Most games benefit from more cache (hence why the 7800x3D is so strong), the speed of the cores, and the IPC (instructions per clock) with a few other factors.

Shimejii got a reaction from Fat Cat11997 in Good idea to sell 1660 super?
They are good to keep on hand for a low power testing card. There is pretty much no market for them where you will be making your money back. You can always buy a used one as well.

Shimejii got a reaction from MFOreo in Is my SSD just bad? (for high end video editing)
Its a DRAMLESS SSD. Thats what happens when you fill its SLC cache, it slows down till its pretty much as stated. ADATA drives have been known to have issues so it could be both a faulty drive AND the fact that its a DRAMLESS SSD.

Games wont have a problem because they dont constantly write to the drive filling up the cache, same thing with reading.

You bought the wrong SSD for the job. You should have bought one with DRAM.

Yeah you are SOL. Gigabyte is not going to cover a second hand GPU like that more then likely. Most of the companies wont transfer warranty to a new owner, EVGA was one of the only companies willing to do that.

Do you do anything else besides gaming? Because 7950x as a gaming cpu makes absolutely 0 sense, no matter its price being "cheaper".

Did  you not listen to the people saying how much of a bad idea it was to choose the 7950x over the 7800x3D for gaming?

At this point id wait, 7950x is more then enough until ryzen 9000 launches if you want to sell now though and buy a 7800x3D thats up to you. Makes it much better for games but if you do other stuff that made you buy the 7950x in the first place you will be missing out.
