failure PSU and MoBo, or just MoBo failure?
matthapkidokarate replied to matthapkidokarate's topic in Troubleshooting
Do you think that the GFX card is dead, as well as memory and CPU? I am now kind of worried about that. Also, it is on a surge protector. Would it be worth it to get a new serge protector, and possibly an apc battery backup or something, with full conversion? -

No kill switch for anything. Actually, the wiring in most of the house is bare copper and hemp, however that circuit is a 14 gauge copper wire circuit properly grounded and up to code. (I live in an old house) Also, I had an old AMD computer on that circuit for almost 12 years, and it never had a problem. However, you think RMA the PSU? -
Build Specs of computer that this happened to: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HH4KCJ Ok, so, what happened to me the other day is that I came home from an event. I went back to my computer to do some editing of some footage that I had captured at said event. I noticed that the computer was off, which I thought was unusual, since I almost never turn it off. I pressed the power button, and I heard multiple loud popping noises from within the case and saw a few sparks. I then smelled the magical electronic smoke. (Darn). I unplugged the PSU, and took the computer outside and disassimbled the computer. On the motherboard, I found multiple blown MOSFETs, as well as multiple blown SS caps. As this is the only computer of this calipar that I own, I am unable to test if anything else in the system was fried. I then filed a RMA for my motherboard with ASUS. Before I get the repaired/replaced board, should I contact Seasonic and RMA my PSU? I have no way of testing any of this myself, and I would feel like an idiot if it blew up again once I got the motherboard repaired/replaced. AND, should I concider rewiring my power outlet to a compleatly dedicated circuit for just my computer, as I currently have a printer and monitor plugged in to the same circuit?

I would like the KOVA because it looks cooler.
-
I put the cooler on and made sure it posted (even though as I have read, Intel chips can safely post without a cooler) . I did not have good footage of it since I do not have a dedicated studio. I chose to leave it out because of the extremely low quality of that segment. So I took one from Linus.

ok. new video url in the video at the top. still processing at this time. will probibly be done in 10 secconds.

Hello, guys! I learned the skill of computer building from Linus and the forums. I wanted to show my appreciation for all that you guys have taught me by creating a build log in a similar format to Linus. It turned out very well. My parts list contains: i7 6700k Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard CoolerMaster 280l liquid cooler Kingston HyperX predetor M.2 SSD 240G 2TB WD Blue Corsair 750D FullTower Obsidian case 2x CoolerMaster Jetflo 120 mm fan Seasonic 1000w 80+Platnium PSU LG Blu-Ray drive

I think that this would be good to get rid of my old desktop computer to save space in my very small computer room.

So what I think I am hearing from you is something like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/F3Yggs? I am sorry for being vague, but I am really in the dark on anything other than stuff like GigaTextiles/seccond for the videocard. P.S. If I will not be doing gaming until I get the card, will the built in skylake graphics work sutibly for document editing and for watching youtube? UNTIL I get the 980 Ti? As it is, this is burning a hole in my pocket, but im willing to do this project. P.S. I am still keeping RAID 1 on the HDD. I will not give up on that.
