  1. Here is a worst case scenario I found on google images explaining what I said above.
  2. What PSU do you have? Generally if your PSU doesn't have the right power connector, you shouldn't be looking for adapters. I would consider buying a new PSU. My granddad used a power converter cable for his CPU power for about 6 years and when we opened it we found the white plastic connector to be burnt a bit. Not saying it will always happen but best to not go that route.
  3. I have a 1060 as well and I got +800 MHz on the memory and +170 MHz on the core. Sits around 72c under furmark load. I can push it further but I can't be bothered at this moment. The stock memory clock is 8008 and I got it to 8808 and the stock core clock is 1506 which I bumped up to 1879 which then turbo's up to around 2050-2100. Pretty good for a cheap Asus GTX 1060 Turbo card.
  4. What are your CPU temps? Perhaps when you changed the CPU you didn't put the cooler on properly.
  5. The newer one has better tubing, looks and what seems to be a better block/pump unit. The fan also has improved.
  6. Pro is just a way for them to bump up the price.
  7. Definitely coil whine. I had the same sound on my 660.
  8. Never had a bad gigabyte board. The only thing that has gone wrong is a dead cap but the board was like 7 years old and was an easy fix.
  9. I would choose the 1060 mainly because it offers more performance for the same price. Even if the AMD card offers better performance in some games like Doom it probably won't have as much support for newer games like you stated.
  10. Gday folks! I have been using Flightgear for about 3 years and is my favorite sim. Recently I have not been able to start a sim. I select my aircraft and it loads but just when it finishes loading I get an error message saying " Sqlite error:attempt to write a readonly database received from INSERT OR REPLACE INTO stat_cache (path, stamp) VALUES (?,?)". This issue is really starting to annoy me. I have tried reinstalling multiple times with no luck at all so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  11. I don't have any personal experience with them but the one thing I do know is the fact that they have very loud coil whine.
  12. You gonna charge your neighbor for the damage? I certainly would.
  13. I believe Wolfenstein- The New Order is 9.99 and it is an amazing game. The visuals, dialogue and story make the game truly a worthy purchase. Sorry I just realized that it is no longer 9.99!
  14. You need to plug the display connectors into your GPU not your motherboard.
  15. I do it all the time with no problems. As long as you are quick and no dust gets on the past it should be all good
  16. Well I currently have 24GB of RAM so my dad can use his software more efficiently and in my use it is completely unnecessary. Just idling on my desktop I use about 3-5% and when playing games such as Just Cause 3 and Wolfenstein I only use about 6-8. 16GB is pretty damn good but don't go over that if you don't need it.
  17. Top, sides, bottom and even under the case for a cool looking underglow because the S340 has cut outs underneath the case to rout wires.
  18. Clean the dust out off all heatsinks and fans.
  19. I did think of going with SSD only but the price for a decent 1000GB SSD is about 370-400 AUD which is way out of my spending capability.
  20. Gday folks! After owning the S340 for quite a while now, one thing still really annoys me. Because the HDD bay does not have any rubber isolation mounts, the noise is really annoying. All my fans in my system are running at about 600 RPM so they are not really the problem. The HDD that I use is a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003. Currently I have migrated all my data to a 2.5" WD Blue which makes my system dead silent but makes load times for games so much more slower. Any solutions to this problem? Thanks!
  21. When I had an Ethernet/WiFi extender inline with my network cable, it slowed the absolute sh*t out of my internet. Once I removed it from the network my speeds were all good. Try doing that to see if it is the same case with you.
  22. Go to hardware store and get a thin PVC pipe and spray paint it whatever colour and if you want cap off the ends. That will make a decent jack.
  23. Just make sure the fan blades and hub are all sealed off. Adding paint to the blades will cause the fan to be louder (I know this from previous experience) and getting paint into the bearings will ruin it for good.
