Thank you very much for the advice and the compliment which I find is helping my decision. Good luck with the Oculus Rift S!

while most everything looks fine, for VMs and Video editing i'd get a CPU refresh if you're not getting the results you want.
i'd monitor your RAM usage and see if you need more later, i don't know how you use your machine.

if you're trying to go with VR, hear me out.
    I have an Oculus Rift CV1. i use it with a GTX1070 +intel 7700k.
it's okay. it's playable, but i've got a RTX2070Super on the way and i'm trying to find an Oculus Rift S in stock.

i don't think the GTX 1060 will be preferable for VR. i know it's what the Oculus Rift S suggests for specs, but it's really a minimum.

TL:DR add more RAM if needed, do a CPU refresh only if you NEED it, get a better GPU for VR.

PS: I appreciate this well formatted post.

It was April of 2002 and I was walking around CompUSA 30 minutes to closing time and saw a new display
going up for the GeForce 4600ti...I was a gamer at that time but always had mid level components...realizing
buying this card would take me to a whole different level. I stood there staring until an employee told me
they will be closing in 20 minutes. 2 minutes before closing time I grabbed a 4600ti...headed to the register
...and began the long, glorious PC building\gaming addiction...

Background: I have been tinkering with computers since 1995...built my 1st one in 1996...it had a i486 DX2
66mhz CPU. I had 3 builds named Project Paragon...1st Project Paragon had (2) GTX 295's quad SLI. My 2nd
Project Paragon II...things started to get a little more serious and I started to get into modding...
link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEFcXjnAV84 - My 3rd (and most proud of) is Project Paragon III...a desk
    build...link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEztQAhhr3k

Why? Well I was going through my storage and saw something wrapped in a paper towel...ripped the paper
towel off and saw a anti-static bag...inside was my 4600ti. I was instantly taken back to the countless hours
I spent playing Project I.G.I, Doom 3 and I.G.I 2: Covert Strike. When I went to put it back in the anti-static
bag...I felt it would be right to honor my 1st high end GPU with a new build...Project 4600ti

I'm sorry to hear about your father. Hopefully you will be able to have a still mind and reflect a little on what kind of person he's taught you to be, and let that come through in your final good-bye. If it were I who were dying, I think I'd wish for people to quickly say their piece (unless it was just already understood) so we could spend the rest of the time not being incapacitated from the inevitable. I'm sure your father knows you love him and you could just tell him "I love you" and be done with that part.

I hope you find peace and mindfulness.

    Hello,

I'm prepping for some haloween sales by picking some games I may buy on the sales.

So far I've gathered: the witcher 3, auro truck sim 2, alien isolation, mgs 5, tomb raider, bioshock infinite, mirrors edge, the stanley parable and some others

What would you suggest? I like open world games, shooters, action games, indies, and random stuff like the stanley parable. Really say any game you like except gta 5, battlefield, cod and csgo because I only have those games lol

    Thanks!

All the opinions here are opinions as most will equally serve you.

My personal choice would be the ASUS because it is a triple fan card that overclocks well, and looks good too.

First, take all advice you read on the Internet with a kilo of salt.

Second, you're young and still developing - keep this in mind before you jump on anything that seems like a great idea. At your age, the best advice I would give you is to join a team sport and have fun. Because, having fun is how you'll stick to it. Also, know that you can be very strong and not look like a body builder, and you can look like a body builder and not be very strong.

Third, take all advice you read on the Internet with an additional kilo of salt.

Fourth, at your age it is normal to have body image issues. Truly, this world is drowning in unhealthy body images. That's why the "fun" part is so important. It will help you figure out who you are, which is what growing up is all about.

I hope you find and listen to your inner voice, and remember it's OK to learn (SALT!) new things and change your mind. If you feel scrawny, that's more a state-of-mind problem. Results take at least 2 months, unless you're in a position where you're trying to loose weight, which may go faster with plain ol' weight training. For best (SALT!) results, mimic those you want to be like/look like, but just don't go "extreme".

    Did I mention salt?

Depends. Most of my builds are "form follows function", so for those its not really a concern, but when I do nice looking builds then it matters.
