and the laptop charger? at campus are you gaming on battery?

if you are gaming on battery. without the laptop plugged in. you will get worse performance. no matter what battery settings you have 

Internet doesnt affect FPS. are you plugged in to the wall charger at home? and not on campus?

budget? current specs? resolution?

Thats another thing. at least in destiny 2, at 200% resolution i get NO difference in frames. But im still getting bad frames at 1080p for a 1080ti. friends rarely go under 100fps and I am under 100 fps all the time... Starting to think the card might be defective idk. Id love to get a vive or oculus and put the card to work. or play some things at 4k. just dont have the funds to buy either of those things right now

You dont have to. I would recommend It though because it locks in and its a thinner cable than the alternative DVI. You cant use HDMI on the VG248QE though. It doesnt support HDMI 2.0 so you would only get 60hz with HDMI

Personally I have the VG248QE and its a great monitor for gaming. with some tuning you can get the colors to be decent but the biggest thing is that if you can get it for $150? go for it thats a great deal
