  1. Today I changed from my crappy Telus router (T3200M) because of constant dropouts, to a Netgear RAX40 (got it cheap). I set up the new Netgear router with the same name and password as my old Telus one, then turned off the wireless on the old router. All the devices already had the info to log into my network since the name was the same. It was going so well until my daughters old Asus laptop (Win 8.1) didn't want to connect; if it did connect it would say "Limited". After all the standard troubleshooting (restart devices, uninstall drivers, update drivers, etc.) I made a guest network with no security, BOOM.. it connected. The network on the new router is using WPA2. As soon as I enabled WPA2 security on the Guest network.. no connection. I have since turned the security on the Guest network to WPA/WPA2, and it works. Long story short.... is the WPA2 protocol a hardware level security or software? If I want to have all my devices using WPA2 is there a option in windows 8.1 I was missing? or do I need to get a new wireless card? Am I less secure having a forward facing access to my network that is only WPA? Thanks in advance.
  2. Budget (including currency): Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Plex server Other details I can't decide between the Lian-Li O11 Dynamic XL (O11D XL-X) and the Fractal Define 7 (FD-C-DEF7A-03). I need a case that will hold several 3.5" HDD for my Plex server, I don't want to much of a "Gamer" esthetic to the case. I am planning on using a NH-D15 for my cooler so I need a larger case, maybe (will probably never happen) one day put in open loop cooling. I know I could go AIO but my current AIO died recently after 7 years of continuous use (props to Coolermaster for it lasting that long) and its slow death was hard to notice since I couldn't see the pump not running and it only crashed during intense use. Does anyone have experience with either of these and an opinion? Help and Thanks. Neil
  3. R9 290 atm, I would love to get an upgrade!!
  4. I am just wondering how much space I should leave free on a storage only HDD. I am putting all my DVDs and BluRays on a 4TB external drive, it will only be accessed by Plex when I watch movies and rip new discs to it. Can I fill the drive 100% or should I leave some % empty? It is just a storage drive, no programs are running/installed on it. I think I can fill it to 100% but would like confirmation on this. Thanks
  5. After more research I decided on the BenQ
  6. My monitor just died!! I can't decide on a new 27" gaming monitor. My system is an AMD 8350, 16GB ram, Sapphire 290x gpu. I want at least 2560x1440 and freesync. I can't choose between the BenXL2730Z, Acer XG270HU, LG27MU67-B. The Acer and BenQ have almost identical specs but the Acer is $65 cheaper but if anyone knows a good reason to go for the BenQ tell me, I have never used a BenQ. The LG have a lower refresh rate but is IPS and 4K which would be nice when not gaming but it is stuck at 60HZ. I know my GPU will have a hard time driving these monitors but I like to keep my monitors through several graphics cards so I want some future proofing. So I guess it comes down to 4k IPS 60Hz vs TN 144Hz. I mostly play stuff like GTA V, Far Cry 4 and Cities Skylines, but not a lot of online multiplayer. I am trying to keep it under 700 Canadian rupees, so please don't suggest the Predator. Thanks for the help in advance. Neil
  7. This would be perfect for the HTPC that I need. Small, functional, discrete, fits great in a living room.
  8. Help me pick between Asus MG279Q 27" 144hz or the LG 27MU67-B 27" 4k. I play FPS, RTS, and MMO games, I don't do FPS online (no CS:GO). I sit about 24" from the screen. I have a Sapphire Vapor-X 290OC GPU. I want IPS and would prefer having freesync. Any opinions? Ideas? Hoping to keep the price under $1000. Thanks
