As for the difference in impact force, the muzzle energy of an AK-47 is somewhere in the ~2 kJ range from what I can find.  That just happens to be basically the same as a ~10 cm diameter steel ball thrown at the speed of a strong but not professionally trained adult man.

 

Why are so many people making a big deal out of this?  Have you never seen actual bulletproof glass before?  It's not indestructible - it still breaks, it just holds together once that's happened.  This did its job, and it's likely only going to improve anyway.

    xD true that's also very misunderstood.  I used to think that too long ago because every movie and game portrays a silenced gun as being quiet enough to shoot in the room next to you without you even noticing.  Then I saw the mythbusters episode where it measured at over 100 dB lmao

    Why is this flagrant misrepresentation still so common...
