Just a PSA about a serious issue

I would strongly advise everyone avoid this update for now.  You can do so by going into Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update (the top one, should be selected by default) > Advanced Options and setting this to defer the update:

This will prevent the update to 1809 while still allowing weekly security patches, etc.

I'm safe because if I have my keyboard plugged in windows updates will always fail to install

@King Poet Never heard of it. Sounds dumb. Hard drives simply don’t fail

@Ryan_Vickers by the way, the last bit of advice won't be applicable to everyone since that feature is only on Windows 10 Pro or better.

Home users basically just have to let Windows update itself.

I feel like at this point if you're running Windows 10 Home or less (an "S" version for example) you should just get an iPad (not literally but...).  It shouldn't be this way, but it is.

I don't see that option anywhere to defer the update for X number of days... :/

Do you have Pro or higher?  Apparently it's not a thing on Home or less

Ah, that would be why. I have Home version.

Oh, also, I should mention, apparently Microsoft has pulled the update so if you don't have it yet, you shouldn't have to worry about it rolling out to you

Yep. They must have. I didn't get the push for the update and it didn't show up when checking for updates.

You know it's bad when they completely pull the plug on a new version...apparently they also pulled Windows Server 2019 as well xD

1803 had to be delayed a ton as well, remember?
