    A smaller update today

Made the floor (left) and the back (right) and put a 140mm fan in the floor and a 120 in the back.
Probably do 2x120 in the roof too, not sure yet, or a single 140 there too.

Made a mistake with the IO-cutout, internal floor will be 30mm up from the bottom, forgot to add that to the back. Not visible later when painted and wrapped.

    Front and side pieces glued.

just get a lian li pc-q10. its pretty much the same case for a little bit cheaper plus it has a window. lian li actually makes the ncase m1. i have the ncase m1 currently and if i were to do it all over again, i would get the pc-q10!

the ncase m1 wasn't designed to be 'as small as it gets'
it was designed to be versatile yet compact.

over at [H]ardForum a user is designing a 3 (!) litres system with a fully custom water cooled GTX 970!

For light photoshop/editing it should handle with ease.
Even if you start pushing more complex stuff, it'll still do it, you'll just be sitting around waiting for it to render.

The 5557U is still a dual core so it isn't any more future proof than the lower tiered options (unless they sport worse graphics).

I would argue 8GB of ram is plenty.

But please take a look at a more conventional ITX build before buying, just as an example I put together a 3.3 liter itx build that beats that would be more future proof than a nuc, while having dual band wifi, 16GB ram, and a 500 GB ssd included in the 467 USD price point.

I don't know the price, and I doubt the price is competitive, BUT I have used the 5200U and the 5500U and both are spectacular processors for nice light loads, so if you are not gaming or anything (light movie editing isn't a big deal.) It actually looks to be a bit closer to the overkill side than the under-kill side.
