  1. Yeah now i will. Cause I keepntrouble shooting it further. I did get the replacement board and it works. But they messed up the delivery and i got a slightly different version. IO is different. Also less of it . I mean I am not planning to use 3 HDMI ports so i didnt mind. But the relote doesnt work anymore. Not sure if it because of different board or I broke something.
  2. The TV flashes a grey over the screen when I plug it to the wall. So it seems like the screen works. However it won't turn on even from the button on the TV itself. Moreover the powerboard does give out power to the logic board, because the red LED is burning. Neither the grey nor the red LED won't turn on if i disconnect the logic board, so their circuit must run through the main board. Moreover the capacitors and resistors all seem fine visually. Hence I am assuming the logic board issue. However I don't have a voltmeter so I haven't made measurements. I am willing to take a 30-50 euro bet on the main board. Thanks. For some reason I disregarded eBay. Maybe because of bad expiriance. However I did spot the correct board there sold in UK.
  3. Hey, Sorry. Maybe I should have posted it to elsewhere but LTT. Nonetheless I already have an account here. If I placed my topic to wrong subforums may the mods have mercy on my poor soul. Anyway. My TV is broke and I am pretty sure its the logic board. However after a good hour searching the web I havent been able to find a replacement part. I have a Hitachi 43hb6t62. I did find one suitable part. However it was sold out..... I could go out and buy a better TV but I just feel like I have to DIY. Thanks
  4. But if the server grade stuff is too powerful you suggest a basic NAS with out software? Or build an old PC
  5. First time someone told me things are too powerful. But I see your point. Anything about software though?
  6. Hey My current DIY project plan is to build a home server for NAS purposes. It's as much for learning as it is for using it as ownCloud server. So since it is with quite a learning curve I'm here to ask for help. Goal: To run secure OwnCloud server for the family. Would be good if it was accessible with local connection as well as online Planning on RAID1 Questions: I have 50/10Mbits Download/Upload speed. Do I need to upgrade to be able to service 2 users with larger download speeds? I guess it is sufficent but just checking? I could buy a used IBM X3550/ 2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5140 @ 1.86GHz/Ram 4Gb or IBM X3550/CPU: 2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5320 @ 1.86GHz @ 1.86GHz/Ram 4Gb for 79 or 89 euros respectivley. Are they too old and what are the drawbacks I should be aware of? Am I correct to assume for a use of a family the 4GB RAM is sufficent? Are there anything specific I should be worried about when buying used server rack? I assume I need to find a new PSU and refresh the thermal paste. Naturally add new HDDs. Should I keep looking for something else? Which OS should I go for? I have played around with Ubuntu before, but mostly I'm a lifelong Windows user. Lets just say my last date with Ubuntu ended with a mess in diskpartitions screwing over my Windows 10. How high is the learning curve for Linux server distributions? And which one to prefer? Windows 2016 server licences are kinda expensive for home use :-/
  7. Hey I'm little lost in the world of keyboards for couple of days now. So far I've used a okayish membrane but I'm looking into upgrade. However I'm bit on a budget and woulnt want to pay €200 for the keyboard. Maybe someone has a decent recommendation. Things I'm looking for in a keyboard are: Mechanical Not too loud (not blues) Wrist rest Numbpad I do not require portability, big sets are okay Decent looks. Doesn't have to be full RGB, red lighting is okayish since I have a black and red build. (MSI boards, red LED, HyperX Cloud II red-black etc). Around €100ish is okay for me, but I wouldn't want to pay half of GPU price for a keyboard. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  8. If I do the partial upgrade with CPU for same socket then I guess my options are I7-4790K (400 with cooling) or I7-5775C which I know nothing about. The latter one is 450 with cooling. Give or take depending on the cooler. How much would VR put extra stress on the CPU?
  9. Hey guys I am planning on getting the Vive and I need to upgrade the GPU for that. But I was also wondering if I should do a full upgrade. So I'm open for suggestions. My current set up is: I5-4690 with MSI Z97 Gaming 3 and stock cooler 16 GB of HyperX Fury DDR3 R9 380 MSI 4GB With some SSDs, HDDs, Corsairs VS650 Running two 1080 screens. So in my mind I have two options: a) Partial upgrade to GTX1080 (670 euros) and buying the Vive (999 euros) - total 1670 euros b) Full upgrade R5 1600 (wraith spire), Gigabyte B350 (nvme support), 250GB EVO M.2 (nvme), GTX1080 (MSI Armour or Gigabyte), 2x8GB Trident DDR4 (rgb), Corsair CX600, IN WIN case (ATX midi), - price 1450 euros + vive 999 A build with 1600X, X370 and cooler would be 1600 + vive c) full upgrade + vive + 4k monitor 400 euros - total of 2900 euros I am not really a big fan of the 4k upgrade since on screen I mostly play games that I know won't scale well into 4k. Like World of Tanks for example. But it seems like wasting a good GTX 1080 when you play on 1080p. But I am interested in the Vive. However I am open to suggestions, ideas, pointers.... PS. Prices are local.
  10. Hey Im pondering on one build. Monitor is included to the build and the budget could allow to go from 1080p to 21:9 ultra wide. However to add a 1070 to that would break the budget too much. So my question is how well can 970/480/1060 handle 21:9 ultra wide gaming? More specifically this monitor http://arvutitark.ee/est/tootekataloog/Arvutid-ja-Lisad-Monitorid-ja-Projektorid-Monitorid-UltraWide336/LG-MONITOR-LCD-25-IPS-25UB55-B-LG-140257
  11. Don't be silly. You cant download RAM. However you can double it easily https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4uUXRcDZBw
