Excuse me? 3rd party hardware? No, just no.

Literally a free software tool that lives in your menu bar.
Apple and their users generally don't care about other laptops. Mac people compare to other Macs, not gaming laptops or other thin and lights. The people in the ecosystem are in it because they use software that is only available for the Mac or have a strong preference for macOS.

The 16" MacBook Pro is not trying to have better thermals or performance than "similar" laptops in its class. It's trying to have the best display, the best speakers, the best microphones, the best build, and the best user experience. That's what a Mac is, an experience.

You can now download the new Windows terminal from the play Microsoft store, if you are running Windows 10 version 18362.0 or later, which I believe is Windows 1903.

Here is a download link: Microsoft store

bigneo reacted to lacion in Your 8 char random password now means nothing
the new benchmark for hashcat means that now the entire keyspace or every possible combination of upper, lower, numbers, symbols of an 8 character password can be guessed in 2.5 hours using x8 2080 ti´s they now can do more than 100GH/s with a single compute unit, for comparison, a 1080ti can't even do half of that.

this now means that is within the realm of possibilities that any attacker that get his hands on any of the big site password leaks can churn you hashed password and get it within in days(or less depending on hardware) if your using a perfectly random password, if you use a name or a word within your password means they pretty much can get it instantly.

so if you have a complex save password of 8 characters or less is now time to go and change it everywhere as is no longer save especially given the latest password leaks (https://www.cnet.com/news/massive-breach-leaks-773-million-emails-21-million-passwords/)

bigneo reacted to BananaInSandals in Nvidia to launch GTX 1660 Ti; 1060 Replacement?
I officially give up on remembering any cpu and gpu model number... How does 1060 jump to 1160 to 1660ti while 980 went to 980ti to 1080 to 1080 ti to whatever. It's so confusing to people that aren't following it full time.

bigneo reacted to LAwLz in Lab Grown Meat gets closer to see consumer plates
Well, if you want to be seen as a logical and rational person you kind of do.
There are plenty of things which are not "natural" (whatever that means) which are very good. For example, ,medicine, houses with heating, refrigeration, computers, glasses, and so on.
There are also plenty of natural things which are not good. Cyanide for example is natural, yet extremely deadly.

Lab grown meat could be revolutionary.
It might be possible to make it taste better than regular meat.
It might be possible to make it more nutritious that regular meat.
It might become cheaper than regular meat.
It will most likely dramatically reduce the environmental impact of the meat business (which is a massive contributor to green house gasses).
    It is more humane.

On top of that, one benefit I don't think I've seen mentioned before is the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
Animals bred for slaughter is often pumped full of antibiotics in order to keep them from getting infested with bacteria. The problem with this is that it has lead to rapid development of antibiotic resistant bacteria, which is a VERY serious threat to humanity. There are already over 20,000 people dying each year in the US from antibiotic resistant bacteria, and that number will only increase as the number of resistant bacteria increases (which it will, it's evolution).

So there are tons of benefits from this, including possibly saving millions of human life or crippling illness, and government money too.

Yea but Intel's glue is a much better special glue, it's Blue so better.

Holy crap that's a bit over kill on the ram channels, but I guess that's the side effect of gluing 2 dies together that have 6 channels each.

It'll probably be UPI over EMIB, the dies themselves have to use UPI to talk across to other dies/packages as that's the dedicated interface for it and Intel hasn't done a complete re-architecture to change that.

ignoring all the other points as people are already debating it relentlessly.   personally I think this makes denuvo look weak, For as long as i remember they billed themselves as this ultimate in protection that will give your game a year+ of no piracy and now they are down to suing the people cracking their software because they can no longer compensate?  As a customer It makes denuvo look incredibly weak and no faith in their product

bigneo reacted to TekSupport in Oracle to start licensing Java for commercial use
Just to be clear, developers and customers and businesses will only need to buy licences if they would like to keep receiving updates when using Oracle Java SE 8 after Jan 2019.
This does not stop you using whatever version is released before Jan 2019.

I suggest all read the release notice on the Oracle's Website, to avoid misunderstanding.

There are plenty of us who are fully knowledgeable about technology who have iPhones.  And in many cases, we're buying them because we've done well enough in life that we can afford the phone we want, thank you.

With that said, fanpeople like that give a bad name to iPhone owners.  I'd rather be realistic and acknowledge that it's ultimately just another piece of technology, even if there are things I believe it does better (or are more to my tastes) than others.
