I'm all for USB-C on everything. It would be great in so many ways. Would eliminate the issue with incompatible chargers when visiting friends for starters. And if Apple would start pushing USB-C hard it would quickly grow in popularity.
 
But I have a hard time seeing Apple ditching lightning anytime soon. The switch from 30-pin to lightning was a bit painful for people invested in the Apple-ecosystem. But the switch from lightning to USB-C would be even worse. Almost everything Apple makes have a lightning port these days. It's kinda the USB-C dream we all have only limited to Apple products. They are far too invested in lightning to suddenly ditch it. Not to mention there is no real benefit to switch connector since lightning is fine as is.

On the other hand ditching the USB-A connector on the other end of the iPhone cable makes perfect sense. They are walking away from the USB-A connector on their computers so why not make the iPhone able to connect to your new macbook straight from the box? Not to mention it would kinda fit in a "USB-C all the things, except our cables have a Apple-only end also".

A highly relevant piece: the latest The Talk Show podcast has a chat with Apple's Greg Joswiak (starting around the 38-minute mark if you want to skip ahead) talking about allegations that the company purposefully slows things down to prompt upgrades for its devices.
 
Now, you'd expect Apple to deny slowing things down on purpose, but the conversation suggests that no, really, they aren't trying to force upgrades.  Joswiak pointed out that it's ludicrous to suggest that Apple would convince you to upgrade with a "sh*tty experience."  And that's a good point: we don't expect people to buy a new car from the same brand if their old one conveniently breaks down the moment the warranty expires, so why do we think an iPhone 6S owner isn't going to pick up a Galaxy S9 if their existing device slows to a crawl?
 
Same thing applies to the Mac.  It's a bit ridiculous to suggest that Apple would bog down macOS or cut off support purely to drive new sales.  You'd probably go and buy a Windows PC if Apple annoyed you enough.  If there's a problem, it's that Apple is sometimes too eager to draw a line in the sand for the sake of introducing a new feature.  That's a blessing and a curse for Windows: Microsoft's determination to offer the widest support possible is great for someone with an 8-year-old PC, but it's terrible for advancing the feature set or convincing people to move on to new releases.  It's still somewhat telling that Windows 7 has more usage share than Windows 10.

Funny how the article calls it a knee jerk reaction and later talk about how it's likely Microsoft will start policing what can and can't be posted on github.

On an aside note: Aside from Apple liking money, those guidelines were also originally put in place to guard against third-party app stores like Cydia making their way onto the legit App Store.

Å, ä, ö is an integral part to the Swedish language so it would suck bad to have to press another button to use those letters.
 

As for why the ps4 someone else has to answer but my guess that the second plug is for USB-passtrough. Iirc that keyboard has a USB port on the back.

Ah you got a ISO-layout one. We Swedish people use it for ><|. And the boxes usually don't have a ISO-layout keyboard on it but the ANSI-layout you use... I'm curious about how the enter key looks like? 
Yes there is but. You will give up ><|. I actually use a K95 with ansi.

I get what you're saying, but lets not pretend that desktops don't have recycle bins. This is to prevent accidental deletes from being permanent, and while it may be frustrating for those who intend to delete something, going into the trash bin and deleting it isn't hard. This is a safety tradeoff for convenience.

People talk like Github is git itself. It ain't. I personally use Gitlab... If microsoft stop improvements or make bad decisions, people will just move away from it. I don't see them fuck it up anytime soon, they got no interest in that.
