  1. I dont think that this will push manufacturers to force things of the shelves. I expect that if becomes a big law, manufacturers will have to make extra software updates. The law does not sy it needs the latest update of android x.x.x or wathewer, just that the software is secure and supported so that the devices are usable and secure for a time period that should match the durability of the hardware.
  2. Summary Norwegian consumer law, as of the 1. of january 2024, has been updated. It now requires all new products that requires an app, or has built in software to have at least 5 years of updated software support. Norwegian consumer law has allways been strict, and every product sold in norway has a 2 or 5 year warenty. Where the 5 year warrenty covers things that is made to last. Consumer electronics (Phones, TV's, smart watches, appliances, ect.) is coverd by the latter 5 year warrenty that now also includes app support and software updates from the time of purchase. Quotes This is a Norwegian article, and not the main focus of the story, but rater a summary of what is changing in the law. I have looked for other sources but can't seem to find any news sources that have piced up on this story. My thoughts This is huge news. Norway is not really a big market, but still a big consumer of electronics. This newest law change sets huge pressure on manufacturers to keep old tech allive and not kill support if a product fails. This in theory also maens that if you buy for example an older phone it is not 5 years of software sopport from when the product is launced, but the way the law is worded it means it is 5 yeas of software support from the time of delivery/purchase. This means that stuff realistically needs at least 6-7 years of software support, as stores sell the same product over a 1-2 year period. If the requrements are not met the manufacturer is legally required to fix or replace the product, and i dont think any manufacturer is ready to take the L on having to replace all of the products in a country, becase they did not want to do an extra software update. If anyone is wondering, it is really hard for manufacturers to get out of these cases. Personally i have had 2 panel replacements on my LG B9 OLED Tv becase of dead pixels, and i know that a lot of samsung fold owners get free scrren replacments when they start to crack from the folding of the screen. I have hight hopes that this can be pretty big for electronics being built to last. Sources https://www.nrk.no/vestland/butikkane-far-faerre-sjansar-til-a-retta-feil-1.16693150
  3. I am stupid. I forgot rule one of PC trubleshooting. Somehow turning the PC off and on again fixed it.
  4. Yesterday my trusty logitech G710+ started developing an interesting problem. The CTRL key is now registering a ghost press every five seconds. Considering how important the control key is, you may see the problem this is creating. I tested the keyboard for presses both in a browser program and the Logitech gaming software and somehow, logitech’s software does not register the stroke, but the browser tester did. Everything else about the keyboard works fine, even the control key (when the ghost press is not active). Have anyone had this problem before, and is this fixable? I don’t want to buy a new keyboard if I don’t have to, but I cannot live with a broken CTRL key. Also if I hold down the key it unselects it at the interval of the press, so sometimes it does not work when i expect it to do so
  5. I used the Auto-Overclock on MSI Afterburner for my MSI Gaming Z, and it is stable at 2010 MHz
  6. I bought the 2070 for the same reason. Got a good deal, for (in my case) a bit less than a 1080, and a can't be more happy with it. The new cards dont offer so mutch in extra performace for the price, but at a good deal, they are defenitly worth it for the aditional features like RTX, and DLSS. As far as we know when other games with RTX launch, they might run a bit better than they do on battlefield, or maby you can turn on RTX for some surfaces, and you can have a good experience. If you ar planning to use DLSS, i dont se the reason to downgrade for 100 CAD, if you can afford it.
  7. If it is about the same price, and you want something new, i would keep the RTX card. It is as fast, if not a bit faster, and it has the option to do some RTX work. If you dont need the small difference in price, i would crack open the box, and enjoy your new card
  8. is RTX on? The 2080 ti does about 60 fps with RTX on ultra on Battlefield V. Dont know about Assasian's Creed.
  9. Still runing a bit hot, so I think i will contact the shop to complain about the temps. (still in the 40s at idle)
  10. I figured it out, was just the fan profile that went wack. Fixed it now, TNX for help.
  11. thanks for answers, I think try to reinstall the drivers for the AIO, since it has gone mad, and maxes out the fans
  12. I just bought a i5 6700k, with a ASUS Z270F MB. It seemed to work fine the first days, but now it thinks the temperature is fluxuating madly, and I can’t figure out why. While idling it fluxuates between 30 and 50 C, and peaking at 60. Then I checked the BIOS, and it said that the temps where fine, and it stayed in a stable 32 C. Does anyone know what’s wrong?
  13. when i first booted my ssd, i got blown away of the speed it had, but now half of the space has just dissapered, and it only has windows installed on it . eaven though ssd's are amazing, and everyone shold get the chance to use it.
