How do I prevent pfsense dhcp to go upstream?
AstrophysicalComputing replied to AstrophysicalComputing's topic in Networking
Honestly thank you so much for you suggestion. Vlans are great yes but not in this case for me as i need a whole network of ips. not a segment it was getting dhcp from another network because my dumb butt had a wan nic on the switch of pfsense lan. meaning request went to the router and pushed to devices on wan, beyond why more idk. Rules didnt work, it only allowed 1:1 connection meaning the wan ip would be something on the lan ip. i got it to work as i misconfigured my wan routing on its router. https://prnt.sc/_Cq_NnsFvsew -

sadly. as I said in my OP, i strictly do not want vlans. -
How do I prevent pfsense dhcp to go upstream?

these appliances or macro processing virtual computers are built with a custom OS that will cause an extremely over hype of the nics and really get routing to work since they are going to share the same SaaS to pxeboot, its just better to have a whole new network dedicated to it..... i want to ssh into them from my Lan which is pfsense WAN and a route is physically attached to the lan of pfsense so the wan can see it. -
So at the moment. I have my virtual machines partitioned in a way that they can't interact with each other and grouped via a new network instead of a vlan. I do not want to vlan my network. I do not want to put pfsense in front of my network. and if anything opnsense is my vm right now. Networking pfsense is weird. wan which is my physical lan is 10.0.0.0/24 which is opnsense wan 10.0.0.123, opnsense lan 192.168.1.0/24. What works. Setting a static route in 10.0.0.0/24 router pointing to 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 , then adding a physical nic to opnsense lan switch so 10.0.0.0 can see 192.168.0.0 network. Issues: WLAN devices answer faster to opnsense dhcp request , making them on another network which can't see physical devices, this is an issue for IoT devices. What doesn't work. Setting up firewall rules, 1:1 , no natting , block blogon and private network unchecked. nothing works unless i add a physical nic to the switch of pfsense lan please. help :( https://prnt.sc/CoiUvgxjsBNa https://prnt.sc/pcVZWOyaUcdk https://prnt.sc/jUhXb2y0hVRm

Choice of an Apple IMac
AstrophysicalComputing replied to AstrophysicalComputing's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Makes sense but for what im trying to do, is the choice of the 27" worth it ? or is the maxed out (cpu and graphics) on the imac 21 worth it? -
I know I'm gonna have some people say just get a pc, but im not going to use it for gaming because i buy into dedicated consoles. It's just so I can do my main stuff and code and do some learning as in white hacking. I'm going to use virtualization so i know the specs i kinda want to get on it, but just not what I should get overall. Reason why not to wait on apple silicon is because I know arm is gonna be better but its not gonna be suitable for what I want to do and since everything is x86 except for some arm items, i want to go where the industry is going. buying an all in one to me is my best choice because i wouldn't like to have to deal with all the parts. dont get me wrong, its amazing to build a pc and it looking nice and everything but I just have an eco base around apple ( apple watch , apple phone, apple macbook pro 2019 base) so yeah. I have two choices. current iMac 21.5 upgraded cpu and upgraded graphics (ram and storage not gonna be an issue since everything is going to be on external drives and ram can be upgraded by me) current iMac 27 with base specs (ram and storage is the same as imac21.5) I have an old rig that serves the purpose but its really old. Especially the i7-3960x. So i think it's time i go up. I know screen size is a factor , but if someone can tell me what i will gain and lose from each other that will be awesome.
