  1. Ok, that's what I was thinking the chart was saying. I have the 3080 running at PCIe 4.0 and I don't think it is even coming close to using 16 lanes, so 8 lanes shouldn't cause any issues from what I read. Would it be possible to use 3 PCIe 3.0 drives or no?
  2. You really don't need to do anything except repaste the console if it is blowing like a jet engine. I did that to my Xbox One X and PS4 Pro with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and they never made a sound again!
  3. Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out if I have enough PCIe lanes left to support the use of the Asus Hyper M.2 PCIe 4.0 expansion card (or the Inatek expansion card with same specs). I currently have both M.2 slots occupied on my Mobo with PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives, my RTX 3080 in the x16 slot, as well as an EVGA Nu Audio sound card in the x1 slot. I attached the screenshot of the compatibility table that Asus released here, but I am having trouble understanding it. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!
  4. Thank you. I figured there wasn't much more I needed to do, but I just wanted to make sure. Appreciate the brevity as well haha.
  5. The Threadripper 1950x seems appealing simply bc of its core count and platform it is on, but 1st gen TR (Zen 1) is so far behind Zen 3 in terms of performance you would be much better off getting the 5600X. It will be much faster in simple everyday tasks, as well as with gaming and video editing. Both have 32MB of L3 cache, but the 1950X has it split into 8MB per CCX, while the 5600X has all 32MB available to its single CCX making it much faster to access. The memory support also jumps from DDR4-2667 to DDR4-3200, along with a drop in TDP from 180W to 65W, meaning less heat output (and way more compatible coolers). You also have better and cheaper upgrade options with AM4 compared to TR4, as TR4 was replaced by TRX40. TL;DR: The 5600X is a much better choice due to its specs and upgrade options.
  6. Hello everyone! I am getting ready to upgrade my Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 7 5800X on my Asus X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi motherboard. I had the firmware TPM 2.0 enabled on the 3700X, but I already turned it off to prepare for the swap. I also disabled bitlocker on my C: drive just to make sure there wasn't any issues on that end (using Win10 atm). I want to know if it is necessary (or just easier) to disable Secure Boot as well before upgrading? The only changes I am making is to put the new 5800X in and install a waterblock on my RTX 3080 to complete my loop. I looked at a couple older threads with similar questions, but couldn't find a clear answer. Thanks in advance for the help!
  7. So I have a custom loop in my system that consists of an EK Velocity CPU block, an EK GPU block, 2 x 240mm radiators, and an EK X-RES 140 pump/res combo. This is all in a Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow case. When I put the loop together, I bled it for 24 hours and the air was gone. For some reason though, as more time goes by, air seems to keep getting into my radiators. When I start up the system and the pump spins up, a large amount of air bubbles get pushed into the reservoir from the front rad and float to the top. There are no leaks from any of the fittings, and I have the anti-vortex EK insert in the reservoir. Can anyone help me figure out why air keeps getting pushed into my radiators? Thank you
  8. I have just encountered a strange issue with SOTR. If I try to use MSI Afterburner with RivaTuner Statistics Server, the game will only run at 5 fps, making it impossible to even navigate the main menu. When I run the game with EVGA Precision X1 (same overclock), the game runs just fine. Does anyone know why this is?
  9. EVGA 1080 Ti FTW 3, and its being liquid cooled. Updated to latest NVidia drivers from their website
  10. I have been having this problem since I updated my PC to a Ryzen 7 3700X. Randomly when I boot up my PC and try to play a game, I cannot get more than 5 fps in any game I try. Things at the desktop are working just fine, and I am seeing my monitors 165Hz refresh rate. YouTube will work just fine with GPU decoding, and so will every other webpage. I have tried updating my drivers after using DDU and reseating my GPU and RAM. Temps are not an issue, as HWMonitor shows them at around 40C on both CPU and GPU when I start the game. The weirdest thing is that it is happening completely randomly. Just earlier today I was gaming just fine, but I rebooted,, and then 5 fps in everything (literally every game shows EXACTLY 5 fps). Does anyone have a solution?
  11. I am unable to update to BIOS version 0702 using flashback or EZ Update 3. I am using a USB 2.0 drive formatted to FAT32, and I use the BIOS renamer tool as instructed. When I insert the drive into the BIOS port, and hold the flashback button, it blinks a few times then stays on. When I try using EZ update 3, it tells me the C8H.CAP file is not a proper BIOS. I even tried using the file before renaming it. I have nothing on my drive except the file when trying the flashback. I called Asus, and they said I would need to have a replacement board sent to me, but I would like to avoid that if at all possible. Has anyone had any luck trying something different? AI Suite tells me my current version 0506 is the latest, which it is not.
  12. I noticed that when I am downloading a new game on Steam, my CPU usage will be between 50-80% usage. For reference, I have an i7-5820k @ 4.4Ghz, and an internet speed of 400 Mbps (megabits, not bytes). Why does a simple task such as downloading/installing a game push my CPU so hard?
  13. Thanks so much for that link. Even with the IC diamond, its cheaper than Newegg. Do you know anything about how loud it is?
  14. So I found the Prostar Clevo N850HP6 on Newegg and it seemed like an amazing deal, coming in at $1199 with a GTX 1060 6GB and a 120GB M.2 SSD boot drive with 1TB HDD. The only problem is that I can't find any reviews online whatsoever. Has anyone heard anything good about it, or has anyone here decided to be the brave soul and purchase it? Thanks
  15. I am in the same position you're in. I currently have the 1080, and it runs most games at 4k 60fps no problem. You won't be able to max out the demanding AAA titles though, and I highly recommend not using AA in most titles. With AA off, most games can be nearly maxed out, and still maintain 60 fps. I can currently run BF1 at these setting types at 60 fps. My settings for that game are below, should you choose to copy them.
  16. Ok, bro. Continue on with your delusions.
  17. No, it's not a bottleneck. It's a current-gen quad core with hyperthreading, it can definitely keep up. And yes, there are CPU's that can keep up, otherwise no one would buy more than one, yet people do. It has everything to do with PCI-e lanes, because that's how a GPU communicates with the CPU. They are like railroads to a train station. If there isn't enough track, only limited amounts of info can reach its destination.
  18. Not necessarily. It has 16 PCI-e lanes, and going from x16 to x8 on a gen 3 slot won't really cause an issue.
  19. I ran a dual 1080 build for a while, and GTA ran fine on it for me
  20. I suggest that you get the 6gb version, as the price difference between them is not great enough to warrant cutting the VRAM in half. I personally don't understand why they released the 3gb model at all.
  21. It won't allow me to do that, due to the system partition existing on the SSD.
  22. unfortunately I have too much on my computer that I need to keep intact. So unless someone can help me figure out how to fix this, I guess I will stick with what I have. My computer boots to Windows in about 25 seconds anyway. Just thought I might try to speed it up even more
  23. Many famous Youtubers, Linus included, have used the Deluxe II in their builds. Asus is a quality brand motherboard, but the choice always comes down to you on which mobo you want. I like MSI's boards, but you may prefer another. Just do your research on the one you want and make sure it fits your needs and budget
