  1. Update, this build is for SALE! Long story short, I am going to college next year and need money for a laptop. If this interests you, check out my post here.
  2. Here's what this build currently looks like, in case anyone was wondering. http://imgur.com/a/xQFXP
  3. Just enlisted today, woot! I backed the game back in April 2013, but I haven't been following the game much at all since then. Now it seems like every time I try to figure out what the heck is going on, there's just so much info out there I get overwhelmed pretty quick. So the plan now is to go in day 1 and just start blowing stuff up, oorah!
  4. I have SP2500's for speakers and AD700X's for headphones, I only use the headphones for gaming or if I'm trying to be quiet, my speakers sound great and even though my AD700's are comfortable, nothing is more comfortable than, well, nothing.
  5. Nope, I put some CLU between the IHS and the die, then mounted the block normally. The performance is still great, but I bet it could be better with a direct mount. I'm just not sure how you would do that since the motherboard holds the CPU down by the IHS.
  6. carbonfiberfilm.com but you can get it from a ton of different places.
  7. HOLY HELL! How is it Christmas Eve and I just realized that I was build of the week a few weeks ago? I totally missed it. Hearing Linus say "Midnight Smurf" out loud on the stream was probably the funniest thing I've ever heard. Thanks Linus and Slick for picking me!
  8. Go to http://pcpartpicker.com and look at the price graph for the parts you want to buy, they will tell you whether it's a good time to buy or not. For example, look at this upcoming build I will be doing: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/29NJg As you can see by the graph, prices were at an all time low last week during Black Friday, which is when I bought most of the parts on that list. When the graph is at a low point, you know it's a good time to buy.
  9. You're not going to want to get a Black^2 if you're going for budget, they're overpriced for what they are and IMO really targeted at the laptop market. Just get a 500GB WD Blue and a 120 GB SSD and save $150 bucks (black friday deals).
  10. What are the headphones for? I got a pair of ATH-AD700X's for gaming and they're awesome, but also work great for music.
  11. I picked up the name back in 5th grade on the wrestling team... Coach called me Smurf cuz I was smaller than average and it just kind of stuck. Now that I'm captain of the team 7 years later some of the guys still call me "Cap'n Smurf"
  12. It might be worth saying that the build doesn't look like this anymore, as college approaches I feel like I'll find myself using a desktop machine less and less. One of the 670's has been sold while it still held some value, and the plan was to sell the other and pick up a 290 but again, that move didn't really make much sense with my college plans. In the future I'm hoping to migrate over to an ITX build for college, although even that might be a struggle. I know for a fact though that I'll be building a Kaveri build for my mom once those launch, so stay tuned for "The Kaveri Mom Build!" Edit: Oh yeah, and it might be worth mentioning that I got rid of the bay res and set up a separate res and pump kind of thing. I'm expecting a couple more parts to throw in for Christmas, I'll probably put up an update then.
  13. That's a pretty solid overclock, but if you have the gonads to delid I'd definitely recommend it. Thanks for the compliments! Did it all myself, bought everything from MDPC. Definitely not as difficult as I thought it would be, but time consuming as all get out. Thanks! Ok, sure! For peripherals I have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate (the older model) that is awesome, a Razer Deathadder that I'm soon replacing for the 2013 edition, and a Razer Goliathus mouse pad. For audio I've got Corsair SP2500's for when I want to go loud and shake the house while I jam to my music, and I just picked up some Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X headphones for gaming and personal music listening. Monitor is a Qnix QX2710 as I said, absolutely love it. I have an old Logitech webcam hooked up to use as solely a mic until I can pick up a Modmic, and the chair is just a black leather one a friend gave to me as a going-away present when his family was clearing out his house. I use an Xbox 360 controller wirelessly with a dongle for games I prefer a controller with, and the rest of my desk is just full of random junk. Hope that covers everything!
  14. I'm going to have to say no, whenever I'm interested in a product I always go to one of your unboxings to see it up close and get your personal opinion on the product, even if it is without using it yet. Reviews are great, but I can get those anywhere else and I like the personal flair you bring to the unboxings. You do you though, man. Edit: This has gotten me thinking though... What if, instead of abandoning unboxings, you release only "First Impressions" videos, which fit somewhere in the middle of a quick unboxing and a full review. In the unboxings you kind of quickly go through the product without a true personal opinion, which I really like. The "First Impressions" would still be easy to make, have a different name, and tell me what I want to hear about a product quickly and easily. Food for thought, I hope you read this. Oh yeah, and one more thing. I assume you've thought about this but the people on this forum like what you do and are willing to support you no matter what. The bulk of your subscriber base will not be commenting in this thread, so you have to think of what your average Joe LTT subscriber will think when there's not a video popping up from you every day.
  15. Yup, overclocked to 96 Hz too, really nice monitor! Thanks! Do you mean my desk or what? This smurftastic build is not for sale!
