Check the redeemable countries before purchase. I did not

Hecknologist got a reaction from lieder1987 in Skyrim SE mods to make use of my 1080ti
There's a couple of mods that overhaul the shaders to 'pretty' up the game. Very subjective whether they're better or not, but a look at nexusmods top files doesn't hurt for good options.

Also if you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend trying out The Witcher 3. Game is gorgeous and had me hooked for 400 hours, and it has similar mod support to bethesda titles.

android studio is just an IDE what you'll actually be learning is java.

The only major difference I found with android's java and C sharp is lambda expressions. When I first encountered them it was wtf is this. There is a bit of inter-breeding between old java and functional programming which will mess with your head coming from an object oriented background.

Just learn to navigate the API. Should not be too strange from C sharp. All hard stuff is abstracted away. Feel free to hit me up for specific questions. I guess the hardest part for a new comer is understanding the changes between versions, specifically with the play services and gps. They change the gps API every year.

Same situation here. Really happy with my purchase and it shines when gaming at 1440p while running a bunch of programs in the background, which is perfect for me.

Quick update:
BIOS rev F5C droppped yesterday and that has fixed the poor temp numbers. Idle now sits at 24-32°C, with cinebench peaking temps at 45°C
Note: stock clocks and voltage.

Very nice Too nice in fact... those sound suspiciously good... impossibly good...
Also very nice, to the same degree... if this can be widely confirmed though, looks like Ryzen is fixed, well ahead of (my predicted) schedule
Hopefully games can get retested and show the results people were hoping for originally

There's also this to consider though:
Seems the 1800X (and other "octa-cores") are actually more like two quad cores glued together on the same chip.

I was really hoping the day 1 reviews would have more info regarding temps/overclocking/behaviour, but oh well. Early adoption standard issues

my cooler is literally twist tied on right now lol anything is better than mine! So i turned on my chiller and im seeing about 13C at idle

Hecknologist reacted to Numbafieve in Unable to get CPU temperatures
Interesting...
when i can see it in the BIOS it is usually somewhere around 30-50 but also i haven actually properly cooled it yet. It is hooked up to my water chiller but i don't have it on right now and thus my system is being passively cooled by my reservoir. If you want i can turn on my cooler and go grab a thermal probe to find out.

Update: I have solved the issue. I picked up a GT 520 on the cheap and it seems to be playing nice with the monitors.
Thanks to @Lays and @thebrownieguy for the help, appreciate it.

Have you tried HDMI to DVI? I use one for my PB278Q secondary 1440p monitor.

That, or try to enable a function that the second monitor is powered by the gpu but through the motherboard ports. I did that and it works fine on my 2 monitors (1024*1280)

Hecknologist got a reaction from D3L3T3D in i5-3570K High Temps With 240mm Radiator
I just re-read through my old thread about how I did it. I used an old celeron off ebay as practice so I knew what I was doing before the real deal. I'd recommend doing that first.
More info about the details of it can be found here:

Or just look at this list:
Here is a list of CPU's that should be able to be delidded and some are very cheap so great for saving your chips.

Hecknologist got a reaction from D3L3T3D in i5-3570K High Temps With 240mm Radiator
Here is a link to the results I got from it:
Yes, it can sound quite scary and I would definitely recommend doing your research. If you do go ahead with it you just have to take your time and not do something stupid, like use a chisel. If you don't feel confident with tools like a bench vice maybe get some help or look at alternatives.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend against the razor method, as one little scratch can/will kill your CPU. The vice method has no sharp objects involved and requires just a little pressure on the sides and the heat spreader will pop right off. It also means you can use masking tape to give some padding while you hold it.

Hecknologist got a reaction from D3L3T3D in i5-3570K High Temps With 240mm Radiator
The problem with the 3570k is the Thermal Interface Material under the heatspreader is not great, and has degraded over time. I have the same CPU and had the same issue.
The only way to fix the temps is to replace that TIM, which means delidding your CPU.
There are some great guides online, just google it, but be warned: it is somewhat risky if you go with the razor method and you are voiding your warranty.
I used the vice method and would highly recommend that option.
