Skur3byk reacted to HelplmChoking in Egpu - AMD vs NVIDIA
Yeah that looks good, EVGA is pretty decent and at least their RMA process is really good. Plus it's a good price.
Just go for the 4GB, you'll be unlikely to go over that even at 1440p. My 470 is 8GB, and only fills up when I'm modelling/rendering. Otherwise it just doesn't happen, you're more likely to run out of GPU power than memory.

It has 3x 6+2 pin connectors, and XFX makes good power supplies.
It's a Tier 3 power supply rather than the Tier 5/6 that were considered earlier.

That sucks. Either way, the VS450 and the 450B don't have enough connectors.

Molex is a bad idea for powering a GPU because it stresses the rails that were meant for low demand things like fans.

No, its not a great idea. the EVGA 450b only has x1 6+2 connector, you need 2 in total for an RX480 and the adapter.

The 480 would be your best bet here. I'm not sure 100% how well the EXP GDC works but it would outperform anything else on the list.
You should not bottleneck because you have 4 cores.

At that pricepoint I'd say a 1060 is probably better, with the 480 as a close second. Depends on what sort of features you're looking for (NVIDIA has a lot of stuff like GameStream and ShadowPlay).
