  1. What's the plan here? Spend 300 pounds to go from GPU bottleneck right back to GPU bottleneck? The i5 is more than capable to run everything that 980Ti can run.
  2. Yes it does, but needs BIOS version 1620 or later. Though your inb4 is extremely accurate. The weakest 13th gen CPU is the 13600K with 125W TDP and boosts to 200W, your motherboard VRM doesn't even have cooling. Truly a terrible idea.
  3. Well that one is shit. https://www.techspot.com/review/2424-asrock-motherboard-fail/
  4. Base clock speed is kind of irrelevant. With a proper motherboard and cooler 12400F will boost forever.

  6. Rtings review shows they have 200ms latency in Windows. That's pretty tragic.
  7. Yes. DRAM is pretty much only useful in synthetic benchmarks these days. In real world usage it's not noticeable. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/wd-blue-sn570-1-tb/16.html Techpowerup rates based on real world performance and DRAMless SSDs easily make it among the top models.
  8. Real life version of a Runescape scam.
  9. TMPIN is the VRM temperature, they could definitely be the reason why the PC shuts down. Also 100C is pretty normal for a budget board with no VRM cooling, 120C is on the high side though.
  10. He swapped the PSU already Reseat the CPU, reseat the RAM. Could also be a motherboard VRM issue, those OEM mobos aren't particularly known for overbuilding their power delivery. Try pointing a fan, if you have one, directly at the VRM area and see if that helps stability.
  11. 8 bit with dithering is an option, no? My laptop + LG CX can do that.
  12. Try a different cable, preferably shorter. Maybe the GT 1030 doesn't output a strong enough signal so it defaults to HDMI 1.4 spec.
  13. It's probably coming out late spring early summer. So the worth depends on you. I'd say you could get a used 3070 right now and it would be comparable and you won't have to wait.
  14. 1440x1080 is 4:3 in 1080p. If it's capped at a bandwidth limit then 1600x1200 should also fit since it's fewer pixels than 1920x1080.
  15. Proper power supplies can handle spikes up to 120-130% power so 850W will easily support over a 1000W. People are just super paranoid again because some manufacturers shipped garbage PSUs (SEASONIC) and then everyone starts panicking power spikes. There is no need to calculate anything 3090Ti with a 850W unit will work for sure.
  16. Well first of all never use cables from different power supplies unless you are comfortable enough to check which wire goes where with a multimeter. Or at least have a pinout. Second all holes do not need to be populated on the power supply side. 8 pin can 100% function with just 6 pins being used on the power supply side, because two of the pins are just for sensing ground. And third you can use daisy chained cables if they are proper 16AWG daisy chained cables, if you have something like an old Seasonic unit that shipped with 18AWG daisy chained 8 pins then don't use it.
  17. Stutter is choppy. If the frames come at uneven times that's stutter. You can enable performance overlays you know that right?
  18. Unfortunately we can't predict the future or what your budget is going to be like in 4-5 years. 5600X+6650 is a very healthy combination now. So I would say you buy that now, put 200 dollars into a sock and buy a new CPU in 4-5 years if GPUs move too far forward. For example the 4090 is already fast enough to not be fully utilized by current CPUs in lower resolutions. EDIT: Agreed on the USB bios flash thing. For some reason some motherboard manufacturers still don't ship BIOS that's compatible with Zen3 out of the box.
  19. Yes, you have 8 total, 2 for CPU and 6 free for the cable. That's because 2 ports are enough, CableMod is just trying to be EXTRA safe.
  20. If the game stutters when you have everything off then something is wrong with your PC itself, monitor has nothing to do with it.
  21. Could you pick a game that doesn't suck in terms of optimization and then test that? Dark Souls stutters like the fate of the universe depends on it. VRR should work well on both Nvidia and AMD GPUs.
  22. Try deleting app data from YouTube, maybe something screwed up.
  23. In the winter it matters even less, you won't need to heat your house as much.
  24. If you manage to drop consumption by a 100W that's almost 10 hours to reach 1kwh (a bit less, because of efficiency, but you will see how it barely matters later). Vancouver electricity seems to cost 10 cents per kwh. So 4 weekends means 20 cents for you. And 20 weekdays another 20 cents.
