I feel like now LTT needs to do a troll video of Riley 'reviewing' a graphics card and getting everything wrong; Things like looking through the warehouse for a dedicated PhysX card to pair with it, wondering why the system won't boot when he's forgot to plug in the 8pin connectors, using the 3rd or 4th PCIe slot that only runs at 4x speed, using a G4560 with 2GB single channel RAM as the test platform, comparing the benchmark results of a X080ti against a GT 710, and finally finish off by dropping it.

(You can pass it off saying that because the new graphics cards are coming out soon, you need to collect some benchmarks on the old cards so you will have something to compare the new cards with, and that your original benchmarks from when the 10 series cards first released are no longer accurate due to driver updates and newer games being used as benchmarks; so you need to run the tests again to update your results)

    You got the truth.

You didn't like it so you chose not to believe it.

Nothing more can really be done.

Just gonna lock this since clearly there's nothing more I or my team can achieve by responding to this.

Without getting too deep into it, I think what most people who are upset about the joke are doing is applying their own emotions to someone else who doesn't share them. It's fine if you don't find the joke funny, or if you thought it was in bad taste even if it was more of a jab between friends, but the defensiveness I think comes from the fact that a lot of people straight up accused Linus of being a terrible boss and saying he'd done something wrong when he clearly hasn't.

Choosing a side in this kind of situation is kind of a catch-22, because really, you're wrong either way: One side jumped to conclusions, and the other overreacted. The reality of it is that Riley didn't take offense to it, so the whole thing is by definition a non-issue.

Every one of us has our own niche that works to enrich the content as a whole. I'm the tech guy who's got as big a nerd-on for retro hardware as current, James is a wizard at making input devices and consumer tech interesting and IMO has some of the best humour of all of us, Alex is a mad scientist car nut who knows how to test a laptop with such efficiency he can just churn out reviews, Ivan is a crazy Russian who's not afraid to get his hands dirty with almost any project for twenty bucks, Jake is a millennial water cooling guru who's got a range of talents involving esoteric configurations and especially streaming setup, and Linus is the all-rounder who ties it all together.

Of the other writers, Riley is potentially doing LTT videos soon, and he's a great on-screen personality with tons of experience writing exactly the type of show TechLinked is, Jon sometimes does LTT, but mostly his jam is TechQuickie, which involves deep research and fact-checking, and Luke, while rare, handles a lot of straight-up gaming content because he's on new game consoles and stuff faster than Nintendo dropped the Virtual Boy.

And then the non-writers with writer credit, like Brandon, Taran, Edzel, and Tyler, all contribute their own expertise when they're tasked to write or co-write a video that none of us regular writers possess, and everyone in the whole organization often provides valuable input regardless of their role, and I mean that in a tangible sense - If I'm stuck on something in a script, or even if I just need opinions on something, getting someone with fresh eyes and a different understanding of the topic at hand allows me to look at things from a different perspective that I otherwise wouldn't have, and everyone is willing to help in whatever capacity they can.

TL;DR we're a team with our own strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes we'll take on projects outside of our individual comfort zones in order to learn from each other.

TL;DR, Riley's acting and timing on that joke were so good thanks to that chemistry that it fooled everybody.

Riley and I have known each other for almost 8 years and we've worked together in some capacity for over half of that time.

He asked to review a graphics card as a total joke. That's not his forte and he's perfectly comfortable with that. Even back at NCIX Tech Tips (as he mentioned on the WAN Show today) he got Ivan's help with a lot of the benchmarking stuff. Big deal.

You also need to understand that he's not some intern who isn't sure about his job security or his skills. Evaluating gaming cards may not be one of them but who cares? That's not what he was hired to do.

Riley was brought in as a specialist for TechLinked.

Something you guys might also not realize is that Riley is perfectly comfortable dishing out his share of trolling off-camera - even if he's not sure where the limits are yet with the live audience.

If LMG was a horrible place to work and anyone actually took me seriously about this stuff, we'd probably have a little more turnover, don't you think? These are very talented people who could get a job tomorrow if they felt like it.

We tease each other, but it's part of having some fun at work instead of being all corporate.

I messaged Riley to tell him people were upset at the way he was treated on the WAN Show and to make sure he was okay and he had to go find the timestamps people were posting to see why he was supposed to be upset.

So it's probably worthwhile to try re-watching with all of that in mind..

norgeek got a reaction from Denned in Who is getting a Noctua LTT Edition?
My old X58 from 2008 with 24GB DDR3, a 980X cooled by a Nepton 140XL, and an EVGA 980Ti Hybrid, all stuffed into a Level10, is nearing its end as my primary gaming rig. I'm slowly saving up parts for a SkylakeE build based in a 900D. While I'm really happy with Noctuas in all my current non-windowed systems, this time I want to build a proper showcase system again like I used to 10+ years ago. Dual loop water cooling and all. Beige and brown didn't really work for me and I had settled for Corsair SP's. When these came up during the WAN show I couldn't order them fast enough, they are exactly what I've been wanting! Really happy about the included monochrome fan cover as well. If there is a second run I might have to get another 8 for push/pull on the two 480 radiators I want.
Ordered from NCIX as total cost was about the same to Norway from any of the resellers, and it seemed like the most fitting place to get something Linusrelated :3

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/acer_predator_x34.htm#refresh - no. To get 100Hz, whether you're on Nvidia or AMD, you'll have to overclock it. Once you've done that, you can just set it to 100Hz in Windows (assuming that your monitor actually gets to 100Hz, not all of them do). The G-Sync VRR will only work within the enabled frequency span, so that's 30Hz to 60Hz stock.

I'm keeping my preorder with the hopes of an incoming fix, mostly because the store is 4 minutes away by foot, so returning it won't cost me anything but a Subway once I'm there.
