  1. So I'm thinking of switching to Linux from Windows due to my being fed up Microsoft and their dumbness and hearing from the keyboard warriors that in some ways Linux is better than Windows. But I'm totally new to Linux and I have a few questions. First of all, Linux doesn't have all the programs I need (a lot of my games and Visual Studios being two big things) so I'm thinking I could run my copy of Windows 10 in a VM for when I need use Windows. Will that work well? What's the best method for doing that? Secondly what is the best beginner distro? I've heard Ubuntu GNOME is a good platform because of driver support and stuff but I'd like to hear if anyone has other opinions on this. Thirdly would it be possible to make a backup of my current install of Windows and then import the backup into a VM? Because I'm dreading having to wipe my hard drive and set everything up again, even though I'll have to do that with my main install of Linux anyway. Lastly let me know if you have any other suggestions or tips or warnings! Thanks!
  2. But but.... 2GB of RAM in 2016???? 1500mAh battery???? nowai android4lyfe /S
  3. Honestly the real MVP of this rumor is the iPhone 5S being discounted to $225. I doubt it will happen, but if it did it would be huge, the 5S is still quite a decent phone. And would be undercutting the Oneplus X
  4. I just want to throw this out there... I keep seeing people say that if you're a terrorist who has killed people and committed crimes you don't have any constitutional rights. But that couldn't be farther from the truth. All US citizens have certain rights such the right to an attorney and the right to a speedy trial. That isn't really applicable here, but it's still important. So even aside from the iPhone, these people still have rights
  5. That is true. However since Twitter can choose what it wants the user experience to be like, it is in their best interest to reduce content that would cause people to leave.
  6. First of all, I don't understand your line of reasoning? What sites in particular follow Twitter's lead? Secondly, free in what way? Many people would say that being constantly exposed to hate speech about a group you belong to because some guy wants "a free internet" is not very free. And I would agree with them.
  7. People clearly don't understand what free speech is.... Twitter, a private platform has every time ght to restrict what you are allowed to say ON THEIR platform. So I don't see an issue with this. Once the government does this then there is an issue
  8. Dude... Your life is not over.... Keep working and you'll be fine, even if college is your goal this won't ruin your chances in the slightest, and even if that path doesn't work out there are many other things to do in life, the key is to always keep trying and eventually you'll succeed
  9. Wow, the people in this thread are really belligerent and uneducated on this topic...
  10. So I want to move my computer under my desk, but it's ever so slightly too tall but if I remove the feet it would fit. It's a Define R4. I'm thinking this could cause problems for the power supply and dust intake, it's on a wood floor. Any ideas/suggestions?
  11. The Dark Side can give you abilities some would consider... Unnatural... Basically sums it up
  12. This may have been answered already, but when you bind say a proton and a neutron together the collective mass is slightly smaller than the two separate particles and thanks to e=mc^2 that small mass difference means a huge energy release, it's what the sun does.
  13. HP Stream for my mom who is still using an OG Surface rt Thanks for the awesome giveaway! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015CQ8PNA/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_MEaywb97TPA2J
  14. So I'm making a list for holiday gifts. Any ideas for cool (tech) items under $30?
  15. Yeah sure, but when has an Apple product ever been about cost effective simplicity. It's fine if you don't like this, but this isn't a new kind of move from Apple.
  16. Really this is a push for bluetooth headphones IMO. They are awesome and I'm guessing Apple will launch wireless earpods.
  17. Ok, I concede your point, but that is much harder to explain to to people, so I find it understandable (but still wrong) that t-mobile does it in the way they do.
  18. Fair enough, but should users be able to use 1pb of data in a month? If it's unlimited then yes, but if you're the guy next-door then you will be totally crushed under that. Nothing can truly be unlimited
  19. T-mobile 's network has doubled in the last year and as a customer I can say it's improved vastly. So they actually are. And while it's true there are ways around the crowding issue being developed I don't think anything is as simple or cheap as fiber would be for Comcast to install.
  20. Unfair, since t-mobile is by far the fastest expanding network and unlike copper internet the wireless spectrum in an area actually has a hard limit where the airwaves get too crowded.
