  1. With this CPU cooler you might have some problems with high profile RAM. the stick might get in the way of the cooler or fans, so be sure to check dimensions for that. Apart from that the motherboard and cpu coolers are great choices, but a bit expensive for what they are. if you are willing to pay for the "premium" stay with this, if not just know there are cheaper alternatives. 16 GB of RAM is plenty enough (8 is enough for most games anyways). dual channel vs quad is not very important, just pick the best configuration and don't worry about that. ideal RAM speed is anything below what your board can handle. the RAM speed is also not very important. i reccomend you go see the this video:
  2. did you try reseating the CPU ? if not, try it. if you tried and still nothing, well your mobo is fucked. don't forget to include the socket cover in the RMA !
  3. why are these things so beautifull! now i have to buy one, but DAMN these are not cheap!
  4. oh, yhea, i didn't check the prices in australia... Maybe i should have checked the price difference between those gpu's there...
  5. ok, few things: 1. you don't need a fully modular PSU! 2. R9 380 is cheaper and will perform better than a gtx 960 so for better value, i would get an r9 380, and a semi-modular psu, and it will be a bit cheaper (maybe you can save around 30-50 bucks) have a good one!
  6. it is highly unlikely that you get a 00 error because of a broken fan wire... this mouse or whatever thing you think broke this wire evidently broke something else... probably damaged something on the mobo you know... it might only be that your CPU needs to be reseated. try doing that 1 or 2 times. if not, well your mobo or CPU is damaged, and you'll have to change...
  7. A mat is quite useless... if you have a wooden table it's just fine. Just make sure your'e not on a carpet if you live in a dry climate. If you really want to be assured, just order any simple wrist wrap for almost nothing (about 5$) and you'll be good
  8. if he has the psu to back it...
  9. you should be able to sold a new wire of about the same gauge and cover it up with electrical tape...
  10. I installed a secondary hard drive (HDD) on a pc some time ago, and it has a lot of data i need on it. Now the problem is: i am moving this summer to another country, and i won't take this pc with me (it's too heavy and it's too old anyways to pay for moving it (q6600, gt 630, 4 gb ddr2 ram etc.) plus i have another rig i use for gaming, which will be moving) So i wonder: can i take out the secondary hard drive from my old work pc and just plug it in my new gaming rig? I know it's a stupid question, but i just never had to do this before, and i never wondered about it!
  11. First: welcome to the forums! Ok, so first: do you want to get another GPU in the future, and use an sli config? if not, then the 850 W PSU is an overkill. 600 W is enough for a system like this, and by getting a lower power PSU you can save some money. If you can squeeze a 980 in there you are getting yourself an extra year or so of smooth gaming before having to buy another card, so i recommend it if you can afford one. Lastly: if you plan to use your pc for gaming and/or streaming, the i5 is enough. If you are serious about capturing gameplay and edit the videos, and want to encode them and upload them let's say to youtube, then maybe the i7 is a good choice. It is a lot more expensive though, and an i5 can do the job, only a little bit slower, so if you decide to buy the i7, make sure you are serious about making media content, because if not, you waste 150$. Anyways, the build looks good, i see no serious problems with it. Have a good one!
  12. there are some mini-itx mobo's out there that support FCPGA946 (which is the socket your cpu uses) which are made for imbedded pc's for industrial applications. i would not reccomend it though. these motherboards are not made for gaming, have a single ram slot and a single pci-e slot. you are better off either buying a specialised laptop motherboard (which can be really complicated to get into a decent case) or buying another cpu...
  13. If it exists, the effect on the performance is minimal. I really don't think you should switch for another cpu for that
  14. HAHAHA ready for VR... i'm not even ready for current-gen gaming right now (had to sell main rig )
  15. first: welcome to the forums i just have a question: did you try using other benchmarks? maybe its a problem with aida 64?
  16. basically, if you've never heard the name of a gpu company, do some research before buying. that's my rule. Almost every big card manufacturer (like MSI, EVGA, gigabit etc. ) has an ok to very good rep. so you should be good if you stick with big manufacturers
  17. haha, a 50$ sound card... Most poeple can't distinguish onboard audio and audio from a sound card anyways (apart if your onboard is really old or really shit). so if your onboard is decent and isn't broken, don't bother.
  18. i think in 2016 the arrival of polaris and pascal cards will change the dynamics of pricing of GPUs a lot. just wait a few months and see
  19. i'm using the american version. do you have any more info on how to force 60 Hz ? i mean i could also underclock my monitor at 60 hz...
  20. so, i started zelda wind waker on the dolphin emulator on PC. When playing on my 1680*1050 monitor (75 hz) it runs at, lke 80 % speed (for the poeple who don't know, emulation of some older consoles doesn't work like classic games with frames per second, but by a percentage of the actual game speed). Then, when i open the game on the same computer with the same graphical presets on my 1920*1080 (i don't know what hz) Tv, it works at 100 %! i don't get it! Does someone have an explanation, or a way i can make this run better on my monitor? (pc specs below) pc specs, if it helps: (not main rig, i just threw that together from old parts i had and some i could get for almost nothing here) -core 2 quad q6600 at 2.4 ghz -4gbs of ddr2 ECC ram at 800 mhz -gt 630 2 gbs VRAM -475 W PSU (i don't know what brand, it came with workstation case and mobo) -old workstation mobo (still works well though)
