intelCore reacted to DirectingGnu2 in Dream build in a Cooler Master HAF XB Evo
CPU: 3950x, about to upgrade to 5950x
with Noctua U12A, D15S wouldn't fit with a 200mm fan on top and the CPU socket is too close to the top PCIe slot, so not enough clearance for GPU.

Mobo: MSI X570 Godlike, only AM4 mobo with both SLI support and the correct PCIe spacing for the 3090s

Memory: Recently changed to G.skill FlareX 3200mhz 2x16 CL14 (will post updated pics later), oced to 3800mhz 16-16-17-16-32 with ryzen dram calculator. FCLK is at 1900mhz

Storage: WD SN750 500gb, Crucial MX500 2tb sata,  WD4005FZBX 4tb HDD (featured in recent LTT video) in the hot swap bay

GPU: 2x Asus TUF 3090 non-OC, same price as founders edition. Waited overnight with a friend at Canada Computers, he sold his to me at MSRP.

Case: Cooler Master HAF XB Evo, also featured in the same recent LTT video

PSU: Corsair AX1200i Platinum, it was the most powerful psu in stock at my local CC

2 Noctua 140mm A14 PWM fans in the front, 120mm S12A PWM at the back, 200mm A20 PWM on top. Had to use zip ties, fan wouldn't fit with the standard mount.

Optical drive is salvaged from some acer prebuilt from 2008, didn't plug it in yet but looks nice.

    Using a Samsung RG90 ultrawide, 5120x1440p 120hz

Thanks for clarifying what the topic is about.
My take on this is basically that if you don't want to get spied on don't use electronics with an internet connection so I am not any more concerned about China spying than any other company/country/entity.

They have more than phones, they have laptops and networking infrastructure. The topic here itself is about one of their laptops.
The main concern for the US government was "China spying on us using Huawei's networking gear". I have no opinion on the matter myself.

With the bands been thrown around I don't think it's safe to buy a huawei product right now. With $560 you can get better laptops. There are many AMD ryzen 5 3000 cpu laptops out there and still rolling out for around this price so you should check them out. You should check out the lenovo felx lineup.

You may want to look into 16GB of RAM for video editing, but you can always see how 8GB goes, then add more if you need to.

Well, the CPU comes with a cooler, so an aftermarket one isn't essential, it's something that could be bought later.

The name for the old one was Titan X, but there was already a card called Titan X that was based on the older Maxwell architecture. To tell the difference between those two, many tech sites went with a unofficial name of Titan XP, where P stands for Pascal. Nvidia's official name for the pascal version of Titan X is called Titan X (Pascal). This new one from Nvidia is Titan Xp.
    Titan X = Maxwell
Titan X (Pascal), unofficial name = Titan XP
    Titan Xp, new current gpu.

Unless you're blasting them with F5 category tornado winds, compressed air (either from a can or an air pump) is fine.

Meh, its what they teach us in cisco when it comes to hardware maintenance, I would not recommended it. Oh course cisco would also tell you to have an antistaic wist strap, for just blowing air into a case. Its also about covering your ass as an IT worker so you don't get blamed when something breaks.

Right now I'm in CCNA2, we learn CCNA1 in 3 weeks and CCNA2 in 3 weeks and my head was spinning at first from ALCs but now I see how simple it is.

just get some canned air and a few q-tips and some isopropyl alcohol, blast averythign to get rid of the dust and maybe use the q-tips with some alcohol for those hard to reach places.
About those ppl saying you cant spin a fan or else it will get destroyed: that is total BS as @intelCore already said and sourced, it is good practise to hold the blades in place though. Holding them in place also makes cleaning them easier.
If you are using an aircompressor i highly recommend that you wait about an hour or so to let the parts you have just cleaned dry off. Air out of an aircompressor often contains water because the water that makes up the humidity of the air gets removed from the air while the pressurisation and depressurisation of the air. The amount of water is not enough to cause corrosion but if you are unlucky and turn on the system right away you might short something important.
Also while you are at it, depending on the age of your computer, you may want to use this oppertunity to renew the thermal compound on your cpu and gpu.

intelCore reacted to Mira Yurizaki in Do I need am M.2
M.2 refers to a form factor. Find out if your M.2 supports NVMe, otherwise it's just like SATA (most of the time anyway).

If you're looking at NVMe SSDs, for the most part, no, you don't need it. Very few people need an NVMe drive because for most use cases people do, an NVMe drive does not offer appreciably better performance.

Don't wanna get off topic in here but just how I was explaining reasons why I favour Founders Edition over aftermarket to @intelCore I believe an important matter in aesthetics is simplicity and the Acer Aspire V Nitro looks pretty much a normal professional working laptop, without any eye jump from the "alien"  stuff I made fun about and it features powerful enough hardware to at least already run over iMacs.
