  1. The only thing that isn' new is the GPU... I mean I have a new CPU, new mobo and new DDR4 ram. The only thing I didn't buy is the power supply and GPU.
  2. Hey anyone reading this So I had this problem where I bought a CPU that fried my MOBO. But that isn' the problem I have now. The problem I'm having now is after I rebuilt my computer. I turned the tower on and all my fans turned on (including the GPU fans) and the mobo lights came on but my monitor never received any signal.... I know it could be as simply as my missing a plug in (because this is my first build but second time rebuilding) but I double and triple checked all my connections. I guess I'm asking if the GPU fans kick on does that mean the GPU is okay or could this be my no signal problem.
  3. So should I try selling it on ebay/amazon or try to find a local shop that might want to buy it? How do I know if I'm going to bottlenecking my GPU or CPU?
  4. So I have been messing around on the pcpartpicker and if I'm choosing the CPU correctly and the mobo correctly does that mean my DDR3 RAM is useles? The CPU I selected is Ryzen 5 1500X and mobo is Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard.
  5. So the Ryzen 1600 is on the same level as the i5 8400 or 8600k or i3 8100? I am still new to this but I'm trying to learn. I am going to game on this but I will probably use it more Twitch and then for editing video and uploading them.
  6. Yeah after I heard the pop I did the research I should have done before I started my build ? And no I didn' just buy the GPU now. I actually bought all my components a while ago and couldn' get them working. I got frustrated and quit working on it until just resently. How can you tell if the mobo can support or is compatible with a CPU? If I tried my mobo which I kinda thought I did and everyone seems to think so too, I'm not against getting Intel... But I don' know where to start on getting the combo (mobo + CPU).
  7. I am sorry I forgot to list my parts. My CPU is an AMD FX 9370 Mobo is MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition GPU is GeForce GTX970 CPU Cooler is cooler master GeminII S524 With a 650 watt EVGA Supernova power supply My combined budget I think could be around $350 usd and my case is a Cooler Master master box 5
  8. Hello, my name is John and I just started into the world of building my own computer. And I made a mistake, I used a website to compatible parts because I didn't know how to do so. But the website was not as legit as I thought. They suggested an AMD card that AMD website basically states needs water cooling. But the website I used didn't mention this. When it came time for me to finally build and install Windows to my computer, as soon as the windows install was complete it froze. And shortly after I heard a pop and smelled a horrible smell. I can only imagine it was either the CPU frying and/or the motherboard. I don' know how to test them to tell if they are alive. And now I'm hesitant to ask for online help again. But I always watch Linus on YouTube so I trust this place. I just want to get a different mobo and CPU but I don't know how to tell what I'll be needing. I am a gamer and I am just starting to record my game play for twitch/YouTube. I don' have a huge budget because I just bought the wrong CPU. Can someone help me? I have just under $200 usd for a CPU. I don't know whether I should go with AMD or Intel.
  9. So if I already have the mobo but I don't plan on OCing anytime in the near future, should I just get a different AMD processor that isn't an FX?
  10. I am trying to get my very first gaming computer build together. I did some research and compiled a list of compatible components. Even went as far as setting a time line on when to buy each component. But I have ran across a couple bigger paychecks then I planned. And would like to how what CPU I could upgrade to but not go over my $250 mark. The CPU I originally planned on getting was an AMD FD8320FRHKBOX FX-8320 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition, I found it for $140. I am looking for a little help or advice.
