Hello, my name is John and I just started into the world of building my own computer. And I made a mistake, I used a website to compatible parts because I didn't know how to do so. But the website was not as legit as I thought. They suggested an AMD card that AMD website basically states needs water cooling. But the website I used didn't mention this. When it came time for me to finally build and install Windows to my computer, as soon as the windows install was complete it froze. And shortly after I heard a pop and smelled a horrible smell. I can only imagine it was either the CPU frying and/or the motherboard. I don' know how to test them to tell if they are alive. And now I'm hesitant to ask for online help again. But I always watch Linus on YouTube so I trust this place. I just want to get a different mobo and CPU but I don't know how to tell what I'll be needing. I am a gamer and I am just starting to record my game play for twitch/YouTube. I don' have a huge budget because I just bought the wrong CPU. Can someone help me? I have just under $200 usd for a CPU. I don't know whether I should go with AMD or Intel.
