Hi, I was thinking about adding a 4k tv to my set up (for watching movies only no gaming), but I ran into the problem of my gpu not being able to support a 5th display. Currently, I have a Ryzen 7 3700x, a GTX 1080ti, a 970 Evo Plus, and my motherboard is the X570 Gigabyte Aorus Master. I have an extra GTX 1060 6G that isn't doing anything. If I add that card to my system solely for the purpose of connecting a 4k tv, will I have enough PCIe lanes to have everything run at full speed? Or is there a better way for me to go about adding a 5th screen to my system? Thanks.

Just a quick question about a cpu and it's compatabilities. So I already have a Supermicro X10Dai, and there's a deal on a pair of Intel Xeon E5-2658A v3's, and I was wondering if they work together. I know the motherboard supports E5-26XX v3 and v4, but does the A at the end of the cpu change anything? Thanks

Advice: Razor Blade 15 (gtx 1060 or rtx 2060)

If you're looking for VR ready, and you're willing to spend the money, I'd go with the RTX model. It's more future proof anyways. -
There is a certain tv show that is going to air on April 14, and if you start watching the show on February 5th, and watch one episode every day you will be caught up by the time the new episodes air. I'm looking for a way to "hide" or move the episodes on to my directory that Plex can read day by day. So, on February 5th I want season 1 episode 1 to reappear in the recently added section of Plex, and have that be the only episode available. Then on February 6th episode 2 gets released, so on and so forth. Is there a better way to do this other than a script such as mv /Temp/tv_show/s01e01.mp4 Media/TV Shows/tv_show pause 1d mv /Temp/tv_show/s01e02.mp4 Media/TV Shows/tv_show pause 1d etc. where Temp is a directory Plex can't see, and Media is the directory Plex can see? That seems really inefficient as I'd have to type out each episode file name (plus I don't really know much about linux so I don't even know if that would work), is there a better way to accomplish this? Edit: Reddit has provided me with a working script. find /Temp/tv_show -name *.mp4 | sort -n | head -1 | xargs -I {} mv {} /Media/TV\ Shows/tv_show/

I just started learning python, and I've looked up a couple of web scraping tutorials, but I don't know how I'd go about doing this. The Denver Business Journal posted this the other day, and I'd like to scrap the info found into a csv file. Any ideas? Thanks. Nevermind I found someone on reddit that can help.

So to be completely upfront and honest - This isn't my script, in fact, I don't know anything about javascript. But I found this script on a forum that splits pages in half of an entire adobe pdf in acrobat. Now the script works amazing, but there's one problem - it splits the pages in half vertically, and I need them split horizontally. I was hoping someone here knows enough about Javascript to be able to modify this script to cut the pages in half horizontally. Thanks. Script is attached. splitpages.js Edit: I tried moving around the + halfWidth and -halfWidth to adjust the size of the crop box, but it seems to just double every page (I'm assuming the box is selecting the entire page when I adjust it) I think the array needs to be adjusted. Edit2: Found a way to crop every page... Just selected a crop box, double clicked the crop area, then chose even/odd pages.

Looking to purchase a new high end router but don't know what I'm doing.

I think I might just build a pfsense box for a couple hundred bucks and see how that turns out. -

I don't see a traffic meter anywhere in DD-WRT. I'm pretty sure that's only on the stock firmware. -

Wired through my nighthawk, I max at 400 - 450 Mbps. Wirelessly, I get 200 on a good day. -
So first off, as the title says, I'm a complete networking noob. I got gigabit from comcast a little while ago and they use DOCSIS 3.1, so I picked up the Netgear CM1000, which gives me the full gigabit speeds I pay for when I connect my pc directly to the modem. But my current router, just can't deliver. I heard from some friends that Ubiquiti is the way to go. I don't know if this is the case or not but I'd be willing to give them a try. Specifically, I was looking at the EdgeRouter 4, or a Unify set up with a cloud key and USG. I already own an Access Point. My question to you lovely people: What is the best, most cost efficient router I can purchase that will deliver my gigabit speeds? It has to be more powerful than my curent router, so I know it's going to cost a pretty penny, but I would appreciate any input. As a side note, I have DD-WRT on my current router, and I love it. Edit: It doesn't have to be by Ubiquiti, I just heard they were a good networking company.

Paying for gigabit internet, not getting anything close
hotdog218 replied to hotdog218's topic in Networking
Thanks for all the replies... When I plugged it into my modem directly I got the gigabit speeds I was hoping for, which unfortunately means getting a new router. Some friends were reccommending Ubiquiti products like a Unify Security Gateway and a Unify Access Point. Maybe I'll try using some higher end stuff from them. Thanks for the help. -

Nope. Connected via Cat6. -
So, as the title states, I am paying for gigabit internet from comcast. It isn't fiber, so it's 1000Mbps down, and 35Mbps up. My modem is a Netgear CM1000 and my router is the Netgear Nighthawk X4 AC2350. Here was my latest speedtest. Thats actually quite high compared to what I normally get. I rarely see it go above 500Mbps, It's usually around 400. Does anyone know if this is a modem problem, router problem, or a Comcast problem? I've had this new internet for about 2 months now.

Right now I have a media server that I use nzb's with, but every now and then when I can't find something I go to torrents. For whatever reason, whenever I torrent on my server it results in a crash. Since I'm often not around my server, I'd like to avoid crashes. Now i have a raspberry pi 3 available to use, and a dell optiplex tower. I'm looking for a way to torrent files and have them be automatically sent over the network to my server. I already have raspbian on the pi, and deluge set up that I can access remotely. Now I need to know a way to have the files I torrent to automatically be sent to the server. Any ideas are appreciated.

Missing 8 pin cpu power, looking for suitable adapters
hotdog218 replied to hotdog218's topic in Power Supplies
Thanks I didn't even know I could turn the system on without both plugged in. Everything's running great and I don't need to worry about things melting now
