  1. as said above - most concerts will not allow DSLR style cameras into their events. So you are limited to point and shoot only. Thankfully now a days there are some incredible point and shoots cameras like the sony rx100 (II or III used or new will fall into a 600 budget though III will be tough to find in budget new - but you can). They have great low light performance which is mandated for concerts. I typically bring a small canon digital elph into venues and they have not had any major issues. When you know how to use them properly, you can make them work fantastic. I'll see if I can post an example later when I get access to my old files. IF you have to have a dslr look into a used Canon 1D MK III it is decent in ISO up to 1600, weatherproofed for action outdoors, and built to last. Has insane focus abilities. And has a BEAST battery. It use to cost 6700 when it first released. But on the used market, a beater can go for around 550, add a nifty 50 to get you started for 100 and you're within range of your budget.
  2. overclocked my Asus 144hz to 145hz why? just because I suppose :-P and no, you can not see the 1fps difference in real life, though going from 60 to 145 is like night and day in SOME games.
  3. I would intake from the front and back, and exhaust from the top. Intake from the bottom IF it has a filter and is on a solid surface that can be kept clean. Otherwise, I'd use it as an exhaust as well. Going for slightly positive pressure is OK
  4. it all depends on the programs use of vram. OC memory I see a drastic increase in performance on things like Valley benchmarking, in real world gaming though, the difference between 7500 and 8200 doesn't seem noticeable on my frame rate.
  5. 1) Has it always been at these temps? 2) Check the temperature feeling of your water lines, one should feel hot, one should feel not so hot, this ensures your pump is moving the liquid properly 3) While the computer is running, push down on your CPU water block, and see if the temperatures see a drop. If so, you need to reseat your block. 4) What kind of thermal paste are you using? This matters at least a little bit. 5) When you mounted your block, how did you attach it? Did you use a star pattern when tightening your screws in order to flatten the thermal paste evenly? Your temps are far too high. I'm running an overclock and using a standard AOI water cooler and it doesn't reach 92 unless I'm at 4.9+ ghz and doing encoding.
  6. I have an h60 with an extra SP120 using push pull config. Idle temps are 29 at the hottest core, and gaming runs 55, when I do any encoding work the temps get closer to 69 this is at my stock daily OC 4.6ghz @ 1.2v I can push 1.3v @ 4.9ghz and still manage gaming at 65. But Encoding will push 92-94 making it uncomfortable. Mine will be replaced with a 240mm EK Predator in the near future to get a little more thermal room for encoding. But for gaming, it works absolutely fine.
  7. or go ahead and spend a little extra, wait less than a week and grab an EK Predator AIO that is expandable, and uses actual custom loop parts.
  8. You can also utilize the CPU Strap setting inside your bios. This will lock Base Clock Adjustments to the CPU only and not effect the other components. Keep in mind that when you change the base clock you are also changing the multipliers for your ram speed, as well as your PCI Express slots. I tend to run both together (49x, BCK around 102.2 = 5.04 ghz roughly) but it has to be done in very fine increments as spoken before. If you jump too high off the start, it will crash every time. MOST people will advise leaving the BCK alone at 100. This is pretty sound advice. Leave it alone and OC on the core multiplier only.
  9. Teach your kids to build computers, and they will never have enough money for drugs.
  10. My ASUS strix pushes 1565mhz on the core and 8200 on the memory just fine. Cooling hasn't been a huge issue, but I did wish I would have just held out and purchased a second reference card instead. The reference card is and has been my favorite style. It stays cold, runs hard, and doesn't quit.
  11. I have a 980M laptop that has an external GPU adapter - when I want to run it as a desktop, I can. But I want it to be a laptop. I want it to push games, and look awesome, but it needs to be price per performance for it to make sense. These 980 cards are what I'm assuming the buzz was about a possible 990m based on the cuda cores its pushing. The SLI version of this would be incredible if it didn't cost 4k easy based on what their mechanical keyboard models already run. After going back to building desktops, I wont even think about buying another laptop for gaming after this one goes out in a few years. You're paying a premium for typically a NON upgradable piece of functionality. However, this does go to show just how good the architecture for Maxwell is, and how much we can push it in the near future. Pascal is going to be exciting.
  12. compared to 60 USD per retail. . . However, current market prices from China ~ 23USD for two. Just bought two more when I went to check :-) http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-LP-E6-Battery-for-Canon-EOS-5D-6D-7D-60D-60Da-Mark-II-III-Grip-camera-1800mAh-/271961584575?hash=item3f522c73bf
  13. order knock off canon batteries from China - I bought two back up batteries for around 40 usd for my 7D Mk II / 6D / wifes 7D and they have recharged / held up exceptionally well. Should be able to have them shipped into the UK no issues from ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-LP-E6-Battery-LC-E6E-Charger-Canon-EOS-5D-6D-7D-60D-60Da-Mark-II-III-Camera-/251950432353?hash=item3aa96a8061
  14. Creative cloud photographer package. 9.99 a month and you get Lightroom and photoshop. Full versions. Get the 10-18mm lens for the 7D Mk II it's a beast wide angle and extremely sharp at 17mm equivalent
  15. What is the best camera? Depends. Which sensor is best, 6D hands down Which build quality is the best 7D / 5D (same build) Which burst rate is highest, 7D with 8FPS These cameras are made for very different people. The 6D is an entry level full frame, but canon packed it with the best sensor on the market, being beaten in ISO competition ONLY by the 1Dx - the image quality is rated higher than the 5D MK III - however, the feature set of the 6D is limited (1/160s flash sync comes to mind as one of the largest downers). 5D II ONLY if you are going to need a higher flash sync speed than 1/160s and if you need a touch better build quality (the 6D Is no slouch) Don't get a 7D . . . the 7D II can be had for 1200 on ebay in the States, and you can get one used for a little better from time to time. Only save up for the 7D II if you need the benefit of crop sensors, because if you don't need the benefits, the downfalls will eat you alive. Crop sensors - Good - Crop value gives lenses extra reach: Wildlife photography - Fast frames per second due to smaller image files: Wildlife photography - FAST autofocus system: Action / sports / Wildlife Photography - Cons - Noise at ISO above 400 on 7D Mark I - No real detail in the pixels just feels blah at 100% - NO cropping value - you will lose image quality if you crop Full Frame - Good - Extreme low light cameras (won a contest with an image shot at 12,800 ISO with the 6D) - Juicy pixels - very pleasing - Room to crop - Looks almost as good as a crop sensor when cropped to the same detail level IF needed - Cons - Poor focus systems (5D II and 6D) - Slow frames per second shooting - Requires EF lenses *(expensive glass)* If you are doing videos, family photos, and just messing around - get the 6D. If you are using this in a studio setting, get the 5D II, if you are going to get a 500-600mm Lens and attempt wildlife get the 7D MK II (NOT the mk I - ISO is a nightmare on this camera) I have used all three professionally for years, I ended up selling my 7D and 5D II and still have my 6D because it is a low light workhorse. However, I still use my 7D II for all wildlife. Your needs though may very. See some examples here www.pbase.com/codyconway
  16. Depth of field can be thought of very simply. Larger Aperture (Smaller number) is a shallower DOF (e.g. 1.4 < 2.8) Closer subjects have a shallow DOF (3ft away < 6ft away) Tighter zooms have a shallow DOF (500mm < 24mm) The contrast to all these is of course true Small Aperture is a Large DOF (e.g. macro subjects at f16) Far Subjects have a Large DOF (Landscapes shot at f8) Wide Angle subjects have a Large DOF (Wide Angle cats at 24mm f4)
  17. Canon SL1 - same sensor as the Canon 7D MK 1. BASIC as far as features go, but for video you wont need much. Kits can be had for under 500 with multiple lenses. Avoid these though, buy a Body only refurbished from canon, then grab a used GOOD lens that has IS and is STM for silent focusing during videoing.
  18. 6.5/10 Look at using a better light diffusing system to spread the light evenly across your product. With the texture of the bottle, you are getting some harsh feedback from the lighting source on the bottom half of the product which becomes distracting. As does all the light reflecting onto your background and foreground. Use multiple sources of light if you are not, and this will help remove the extra glaring that you do not want. For this style of shooting I'd personally use two flashes on the product attacking from 45 degree angles. One stage left, one stage right. I would have the flashes mounted directly level with the product, and shoot with softboxes attached to the strobes. A smaller light burst would fill the background and foreground from either above or bellow the product. Buff-tailed Coronet, Sachatamia Lodge, Ecuador Canon 5D Mk II 1/200s f/20.0 at 300.0mm iso400 - Shot with 6 strobes set at 1/64th power on manual. This allowed for extremely fast shutter speeds controlled by the light duration.
  19. http://www.fotokonijnenberg.nl/ (Holland) https://www.ac-foto.com/onlineshop/ac-foto/index.php (Germany) I can not remember the store I used in Berlin, at the moment. But there was a pretty good used shop online. I was actually able to grab a piece of Sigma equipment cheaper there than here in the states at the time.
  20. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/akracing_premium_gaming_chair/ ^ bought this chair worrying Dxracer would be too slim for myself, price was it was competitive with the rest. Only downside is not having 4D Arm Rest, and it does not have a height adjustment out of the box. Other than that, this chair is extremely comfortable, and I get zero fatigue using it. The lay flat recline is also nice even though I rarely use it, I DO and HAVE used this feature. I researched a lot of chairs for a while. I'm 6'3 and weight 185. So I needed a larger backed chair FWIW
  21. Not sure how the trade in value is in Canada right now, but check with best buy and see if they are offering the 30% bonus trade in promo with GTAV still. I traded my copy of GTAV in for the PS4 and received 41 back a week ago at best buy, you could then turn and buy the physical copy for 20 bucks roughly, cheaper if you wait for a sale from BB for maybe 50, cutting your out of pocket expenses down. As said by others, the jump is worth it. I was in love with the ps4 version, but when I installed it on PC it was such a different experience - of course I'm running it on a higher end system, so results may vary. If MODS are what you want. Then its worth it, to you at least.
  22. 4790k unless you're willing to upgrade your mobo to z170 AND upgrade your room to DDr4 assuming your not running DDr3L currently. If you have this build already in hand that is. . . If you are starting from scratch . . . 4790k anyways since you can grab a chip from Micro Center for around 270 USD. Mine from there is stable at 4.6ghz at 1.2v and 4.9ghz at 1.3v. Since you were asking for price versus performance - this is your clear winner.
  23. 750w is fine. I use a 750Watt supply with my system and it runs an SlI 970 configuration. I saw a massive increase in performance across all major AAA titles on the market right now when I added the second 970 to the mix. Heck, whole reason I built my PC was to run SLI 970 and have an overclocked CPU for graphics rendering. I was enjoying performance on a single 970 on my laptop via external graphics amplifier before. sidebar: With dx12 - we need to remember that vram stacking is confirmed. sli970 will render 7gb of vram that is Good and 8gb of vram total (will ONLY be a problem if it needs to "cap" one cards vram before pulling from the other). SLI970 > 980ti IF the game supports sli Benchmarks confirm
