  1. Any idea as to why the drive is not showing up ? or evening allowing me to boot from it ?
  2. No dice alex . It shows this when i set it to legacy mode with the 128gb removed and only the 1tb samsung evo with windows 10 installed. When i go to legacy boot options ( 2nd screen shot ) it just says no laptop hdd found. Drive boots up windows 10 just fine on the other laptop. I even ran a hardware diagnostic on the hp omen and it checked the drive just fine.
  3. Trying this now. Thank you so much for helping me alex!
  4. Hello, I have a hp pavilion 15 touch screen laptop (15-cs0051wm) , that came with a regular 1tb drive , I upgraded the drive using a samsung 1tb SSD. I installed windows from the copy you can download from microsoft directly on thumb drive and registered it. I loved it but needed some more graphical power. So i purchased a HP omen 2017 laptop with the gtx 1050 ( 15-dc0096nr ) . The Hp omen laptop has a 128gb M.2 drive with another copy of windows 10 installed on it and a 1tb regular drive. Now .. my idea was to simply carry over the samsung 1tb SSD from the pavilion 15 and use it in place of the regular 1tb drive on the hp omen. I wanted to do this so i wouldn't have to reinstall all my programs again. But.. The drive will not even show in windows. It only shows the m.2 drive when I have the 1tb SSD with the other copy of windows 10 on it. I tried removing the M.2 drive and now it says Boot disk not found - install an operating system. I put the drives back into their original systems and everything works fine. What am i missing here ? How can i use the 1tb ssd with the 128gb m.2 drive on the omen laptop ?
  5. I am so hoping this is not too old a topic to resurrect. I am in the same boat as the thread starter. I have a Rog swift and a steam box. The Rog swift is my only monitor and i use it 98% of the time for PC gaming. Naturally i ran into the same problem as the original poster when i realized I may want to add a ps4 to my setup in the future. Since The Rog swift only has one Display-port 1.2 connector I thought i would use a cheap adapter like the StarTech DP2HDMI2 to take care of the problem. Only with research did i discover these types of simple adapters could not carry the video over to the display-port. I thought i had found a solution when i learned of StarTechs active HDMI to display-port adapter , model HDMI2DP. My joy was short lived however when is discovered my 2nd problem , One display port means i would have to constantly unplug the ps4 in order to use it. I then thought a display-port KVM switch in front of the active adapter would give me more ports to work with. I was crestfallen when i learned that none of the display-port KVM switches support above 60hz ( one of the main reason i got the Rog besides G-sync was the 144hz refresh rate). So that was a dead end and at this point i was ready to give up and shelf the idea of the ps4 since I have no room for a 2nd monitor. This brings me to the reason I posted to this old thread. What about using game capture USB 3.0 cards like the AVerMedia CV710 or the AVerMedia GC550 Live Gamer Extreme . My idea was to use the preview stream window on the PC as a picture in picture in order to to play the console. You wouldn't have to worry about space as you wouldn't be recording. Both of those units boast 60fps at 1080p playback. Pretty much doing what this fellow is doing link. Now my main concern is Lag and how much of it would be present after watching Linus's video review of the CV710 @ 2.30. He mentioned he fixed it with a HDMI splitter but i am not sure how that would work since I only have a display-port. So my question is , would this work ? Is there a capture card with almost 0 lag that can be used to play a ps4 or Xbox one on the PC preview screen ? Or has there been a solution that was discovered since this topic was posted that fixed this whole thing ( other than buying a 2nd monitor)
  6. thank you so much for what help you did given me btw. looks like everything is clear now.
  7. found the files , took forever and some guessing since their are about 10 years of photos on here. Their file names where so long i couldn't even delete them with them looking me in the face. windows kept saying the name was to long . So i had to open winrar and selected delete files after archiving again. funny thing , i was able to shorten the file in the archive and decompress them again. And viola! they work! Photos of my grand father. Do know why it wouldn't even let me shorten the file name in windows 8.1 but this is getting annoying.
  8. heh i guess i got too happy. 99.9% of the files copied just fine then I got the error about file names being to long for two of the files. But i cannot for the life of me locate them. they don't show up in windows search.
  9. alright , making some headway. I right clicked folder and unchecked " read only " for the folder proprieties . I noticed as it taking read only off all the files it stopped on one. That one file gave the error that it was no longer there. So i stopped the operation and located the file. It was there but it showed "0" bytes file size. I tried to delete it and it gave me the same error about it no longer existing. And wouldn't let me delete it. So i got the idea to just archive it with the option to delete the files after the archiving was done. Sure enough the file was deleted and i was given a rar file of about 20mb's full family photos. No i can copy the whole folder . But this has me worried. I ran the error checking tool with sfc /scannow from admin command prompt and it gave no errors. I then ran the disk error checking took from right clicking on the same drive. It also gave no errors . Whats going on ? 0_O
  10. Okay ran sfc /scannow in admin. I didn't get any errors. I disabled windows defender and uninstalled malwarebtes. But still no dice I read the artical you posted and i don't use norton . so that wouldn't work Also i don't have any other antivirus installed. Please help me.
  11. i got rid of malewarebyes , is windows defender also a anti virus ? I will disable that too. How do i scan the files in windows 8.1 to see if their currpted ? Thank you for the help!
  12. hello, I have searched this form from this problem and i only get solutions for people trying to extract archive files. Which all say .. don't work. I am using windows 8.1 and i need to copy 3.5 tb of files ( Rar archives , iso's and images ) from a sata installed 6tb drive to a usb 3.0 6 tb drive ( cannot copy the files to internal non usb 3.0 drives either ) . Some files and folders copy just fine. While others give the 0x80004005 error. With no solution and only the suggestion to look it up online. Things i have tried already. Search the forum via google ( every post i see talks about archive files and older version of windows ) tried seagate cloning software to try and clone the drive take ownership of the folders and files and giving myself ( no idea why i didn't have this ) full admin rights.I uninstalled my anti virus ( malewarebtyes) and disabled the firewall windows 8.1 enterprise 64 bit 256 SSD os drive 6 tb mass stoage drive 2 x 6tb usb 3.0 drives Please help me , no one seems to have the answer to this problem
