Hi sorry for the late feedback.
    Anyways, nevermind.
We decided to just upgrade her 7y/o laptop rn with an SSD.
If it breaks during the surgery (it is old after all), we'll buy used haha

    Thanks for the help anyways

So we have this secret santa crap where we have to think of a lookalike for the one we're going to give the gift to.

Dude kinda looks like Ferb from Phineas and Ferb.

Problem is, cartoons/anime are not applicable.

    Help?

EDIT: Can be a celebrity or a character from a movie/TV show.

    ASRock B350M Pro 4 - 60$
    2x8GB TridentZ DDR4-3200 - 170$
    Crucial MX300 275GB SSD - 87$
    Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD - 75$

That's around 500$. You have 500$ for a case you like, a good PSU, and some peripherals, and maybe some savings for your GPU budget

Do note that if you plan on getting a high-end videocard (like a something along the lines of a 1070 to 1080), the 2200G will not scale as good and may be a bottleneck to the system.

Assuming you're going without discrete graphics, definitely the 2200G

Even if it were with discrete graphics I'd still go with the the 2200G just for upgradability and future value.
the 2600K is already 5 years old. Besides if you already have discrete graphics in your plan I'm pretty sure you can get a similarly-priced GPU-less Ryzen counterpart.

Noyu reacted to genexis_x in Ryzen Laptops with discrete graphics?
There's only one Ryzen mobile CPU for now which is the low power APU (15-25W TDP). Ryzen high performance mobile CPU haven't released.

Most Ryzen mobile APU (2200U, 2500U, 2700U) laptops don't have dGPU. The only one with dGPU is Acer Nitro 5 with RX 560 which is believe, it isn't available yet. There's GL702ZC with desktop Ryzen CPU, but it has many weaknesses and needs repaste, probably out of your budget too.

FYI, Ryzen U APU generally performs between 7300HQ and 7700HQ. However the platform hasn't mature and there are issues like poor battery life, inconsistent CPU performance and buggy firmware/software.

I'll suggest N950TP6 if you need a laptop with high CPU performance. Desktop Coffee Lake CPU 8400/8700+1060.

The most important question: Do you need portability?

Hi. I explained in one of posts above but basically I had an i5-7500 and was not satisfied with it's iGPU performance. This RX580 was still on RMA  and the distributor did not give an ETA. Local community was scaring us noobs that GPU RMA's were taking as long as 6 months due to the supply problem.
Decided to get into the Raven Ridge bandwagon to get better frames in games.
Just around a week after I got this 2400G (after selling my Kaby stuff), my RX580 replacement arrived haha.

well it's fine. aside from the you'll-wear-out-your-fans-more.

I'd really just recommend creating a custom fan curve. setting it to max EVERYTIME you play a game is a hassle to do ahaha.
besides, 72-78°C is fine. hell you can even run it to 85°C and still be "okay".

Meh, the more n00bz enter the market the easier it'll be to turn in profits for basically no effort

On a more serious note, I am truly excited for a society in the future where everyone has the chance to do some trading. It's got good life lessons in it, just like poker or other probabilistic "sports". A succesful trader is someone who's level headed, and willing to learn. Your typical guy who comes in defending a biased point of view to the death, like we sometimes get here in the forums, quickly find themselves down money.

One thing I didn't consider before was that neither AMD or Nvidia have officially adjusted MSRP which might lead me to believe they haven't increased their profits and this has all been money made hand over fists by the distributors and stores alone (Apart from the miners making money of course)

Memory side of things arent going to be that bad. I read a piece of Chinese tech news claiming some newer fabs in mainland China are starting pre-production runs of DDR4 while some that produced DDR3 in the past are moving towards GDDR5. Dont know how well those attempts go.
Phones arent a new thing, and we dont have shortage problems back when mining isnt a thing.

most of the time there's really no big performance difference in-between versions. just maybe around ±10% in real-world gaming performance.
that one is cheap as it probably has MSI's most basic cooling option. thermals and noise may not be as good (or as tolerable) than the other versions

I'm actually amazed that the miners haven't ran that version out of stock as they generally don't care much about thermals and noise ahaha

what's the maximum dimensional limit? coz like you can buy a big-ass case and still call it "portable" or "for-travel" if you have a car ahahaha

Checkout the Silverstone SG13 (box-type) and the ML08 (briefcase with handle). Both ITX and around 12L. They can house big GPUs.
An alternative to the ML08 woud be the Fractal Design Node 202 which I think is a bit cheaper but is more organized than the ML08
Obviously these options will not house a 240mm rad.
There may also be a ton of HDD/SSD limitations so do check them out (e.g. the ML08 only has 2.5" 9.5mm THK slots)

Next in size would be the 20L Cougar QBX. This is probably the most ideal as you'll be able to fit most (if not all) of your components in this case.
Do note of the clearances though ESPECIALLY if you're gonna be reusing your ATX PSU.
AFAIK you can fit a 240mm rad here SOMEWHERE haha

Sizing up another time and going to mATX, the 25L InWin 301. It's probably the smallest commercially available mATX case that can house big GPUs.
It does however cut corners on air flow as it isn't as airflow optimized as other bigger options.

Lastly, just for kicks, the 36L BitFenix Prodigy M. Just cause it's pretty and has handles. Do note that the handles are kinda soft and will probably break over time. I really wouldn't recommend this case if you travel alot. You can check out the Phenom M which is its no-handle sibling.
Also the softouch material degrades easily.

If you have any questions about the cases above, I'd be glad to answer them.
I've owned the SG13 the ML08 and the Phenom M. The others, just part of my research when I was still looking for cases.
