Cloud 2 has "more stuff". other choices for color, and a 7.1 USB Soundcard.. From what I understand from this thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/331886-71-headphones/, the 7.1 USB Soundcard isn't really worth it since you can do it with Razer Surround or some other software-based virtual surround. Someone back me up on this please? @ShearMe

my point (or the way I understood it) is, if you're gonna filter the intake, SP dat slot.

..continuation... so here I was. acting "cool, calm, and collected". I first checked if I could just transfer the fan on the other side, without having to remove the cooler. apparently that was easy, but I had to remove one of the RAMS first 'coz my hand was too big. closed the side panel, ta-da, #solved. next thing I know, I'm in the UEFI BIOS playing around (and crashing a lot), overclocking. Then suddenly, just at the side there, I see "DDR3 4096". I'm like what. Is my RAM broken sht. Turns out it was just loose from the reinstall I did earlier. LL: Not every first build story is a clusterfck of problems. If you don't get overexcited, you might just be lucky enough to pull it off the first try.

ditto here. but I was "cool, calm, and collected" that I decided to remove both my GPU and my WiFi adapter. ahahahaha I just built my first rig about 5 days ago. Was pretty happy when everything worked fine and booted from the first try. After a few hours, I was actually on windows 10 and stuff (trying out edge etc etc) when I was researching fans for the Hyper 212x. Then and there I realized that I installed the cooler the other way (instead of blowing to the exhaust, I t'was blowing to the PSU) .....to be continued....

I actually just built my first rig about 5 days ago. But I already have like a "plan" for it. I'll update my sig for the info on my rig later.. 1x Black/White HyperX Cloud 1x Cherry MX Brown / TK / White LED / Mechanical Keyboard 1x 4TB 3.5" WD Blue 7x 1850rpm Scythe Gentle Typhoons (2 top, 2 bottom, 1 rear, 2 push/pull aircooling) 1x Fan Hub 1x Mouse (probably the latest Deathadder) 1x White LED strips for chassis 1x i7-4790

kek I'm not benchmarking with MoBas. They're just the only games I have as of the moment. I don't own AAA games YET. (keyword on "own") If I wanted to benchmark, I'd probably go ahead with 3DMark. Is already overclocked to 4.1 GHz..

Good Day, So I just finished building my PC last weekend. And, just last night I tried playing LoL and HotS just to get an idea of how strong the R9 380 is (SAPPHIRE NITRO 4G). LoL was pretty easy, but I already knew that since my 3-yo laptop can easily maintain 60 fps with VSYNC on. Now here's the catch, HotS, I can't seem to reach 50 fps with VSYNC on, and with it off, just barely 61 fps. Is this supposed to happen? I'm not sure but I think I was not even on ULTRA. I think I was on HIGH. I have a feeling that my G3258 cannot handle the CPU-intensive stuff, but turning those off just gives me 5 fps more. ADD: 1080p

so far running at 40-50degC at idle. Ambient isn't air-conditioned. So yea, I gotta get that hot air out. Changing to (or investing on) a better cooler would still result to hot air just lingering within the case. EDIT: You have a point though. I might go with the 140mm exhaust first, check temps, and add the 120mm's later as needed. What I don't like about this is that the bottom half of the case might be on neg pressure. The GPU is basically absorbing and exhausting all the air from the top intakes.

I've read somewhere (i think it was in OCN) that putting filters (or any other obstruction really) on AF basically kills the CFM of the fan. like up to a third. But that guy may have been biased to SP fans.

Good Day, I just finished building my first PC on a Phenom M. So far, I'm just using the 2x120mm included fans as top intake. Bottom is heat-shielded (for now). And CPU cooler is a Hyper212x exhausting to the back. I'm currently looking for fans to add. Configuration would be: 2 x 120 Top Intake 2 x 120 Bottom Intake 1 x 140 Back Exhaust Currently, I'm planning to add 2 x 120mm GTs (1850rpm) at bottom intake, and 1x Cougar Vortex HDB 140mm at back exhaust. The cougar's color irks me a bit, but if I don't find an alternative, Ill just go with it. Thoughts?

#jealous but I'm starting to think a Z-board gives a better OC vs. the H-boards. It's just much better that the board is actually built for OCing.
-
It still is on the latest Win10 Build, and latest BIOS on my ASUS H97M-E. It had problems during the early release of win10, where they complete disabled OC capability. but they fixed it last month.

Hello, my case: I also just got my G3258 and I'm overclocking it on an ASUS H97M-E Motherboard, cooled by a CM Hyper 212x. So far. Highest stable for me is 4.2GHz @ 1.275V (crashes at 1.27) using AIDA64 for 30 minutes. Temps were somewhere near 75degC. I tried 4.3GHz @ from 1.28-1.3V, it crashes a few minutes after booting. Looks like I got an average chip. Will be running it at 4.1GHz (for now) at whatever lowest voltage it will be stable at. The good chips go up to 4.2 on stock voltage. then somewhere near 4.5 at 1.3V. #sad.

I knew this thread would implode with "Huh?! H board OC?!" Anyways. I got it now. So far running at 4.0GHz. 1.2V. May have lost the silicon lottery coz AIDA64 crashed @ 4.1 I'm on the latest BIOS. There seems to be a whole ton of confusion with regards to non-Z overclocking of the Penitum G3258. SOOOOOOOOOO FOR EVERYONE'S INFORMATION, History: 1.) Intel releases Pentium G3258, which is an unlocked chip 2.) Motherboard manufacturers released BIOS updates onto H-boards to be able to overclock the G3258 (CPU Multiplier style) This has been going on without fail just until Win10 3.) Win10 outs, releases a microcode to disable non-Z overclocking of the G3258. 4.) Comes Nov2015 update, they bring back OC capability. In the time between item 3 and 4, MoBos manufactures may have released BIOS updates to completely disable the OCing. But so far, on my ASUS H97M-E, OC capability is still good. Not sure about the limits though. There's a chance I might get higher OCs on Win7 or Win8. Not sure as this is my first time OCing too. -end-

I remember watching this video a long time ago. Wasn't the test bench a Z-board.

NEED HELP! I just build this brand new PC and I can't seem to overclock. (or I just don't know how). First-time build and first time overclocker.. So far BEFORE everything I tested with memtest86 and Aida64 just to check stock stability. So far so good. Now I don't know what to change in the UEFI BIOS.

The cheapest R9 390 here (which is SAPPHIRE) is about 335 USD. But that's actually cheaper than I expected.. Interesting. But naaah. I'll just consider the 390 for my crossfire build next year. Or maybe sell the 380 and upgrade to the 390. Already ordered the 380 for delivery tomorrow. ahahahahaha Thanks m8
-
SOLVED. apparently I misunderstood the shop dude. They specified that they don't have stocks (but didn't explicitly say this is only for the main branch). Upon checking they have this one last stock in a faraway branch. For delivery tomorrow. orayt Sorry. and Thanks everyone.

So I just bought parts for my build. Unfortunately, they did not have stocks of the SAPPHIRE R9 380 4G. So now, I'm contemplating 3 options: 1.) Wait for the stocks to arrive (note: I've already tried with other shops. It seems the demand is high on the 4G version) But so far, not a single shop confirmed when the stocks will arrive. I think they only have one supplier. 2.) YOLO and buy the 380x which is costs 12950PhP ~270USD (the 380 is just 10700PhP ~ 225USD) 3.) Go lower and buy a 4GB GTX 960 (most probably a ZOTAC AMP! which costs the same as the SAPPHIRE 380) Current parts are: Intel G3258 ~ placeholder cpu. will change to an i7 AS NEEDED. ASUS H97M-E (this was a mistake, I thought this also had mosfet heatsinks as with the PLUS) Kingston HyperX Fury 2x4GB 1866 MHz CL9 or 10 (I dunno I did not check, this was an impulse buy as they did not have corsair RAM) Seasonic M12II EVO 520W 80+ Bronze CM Hyper 212x BitFenix Prodigy M Now. What to do.
-
Updated for FINAL build i guess. Will post pics when I get them. Prolly gonna do an assembly vid. But amateur-style. Ill just setup my phone at 1 point and record from there (this is for me to know what/when I miss something).

For my case, I'm only limited to 2 GPUs. Soooo, AFAIK, I need a 16x lane and a 4x lane (but ofc, both on are 16x slots) (as a minimum). This will then run crossfire on x4/x4.. So I don't understand what you're saying here. Please explain again. Hmm. Since Crossfire now uses PCIe for communication between GPUs (no more Xfire bridge), isn't it important to get AT LEAST a x8 PCIe?

Overlord + DLC pureas-u if not, Rise of the Argonauts Thankyu
-
So I plan on buying an ASUS H97-M Plus MoBo. It is clearly specified that it has 2 x16 slots but the other one runs on is PCI-E 2.0 and runs x4 only. Hence, crossfire capability (no SLI). Does this affect crossfire performance? By how much? Im currently comparing a Zotac AMP! 960 with Sapphire R9 380 (both 4GB). And im trying compile pros and cons. So, if possible, a good pro for the R9 380 would be crossfire-ing instead of buying a new card.

not really. those dimension limits include the overall "case" of the monitor. i think it's somewhere from 20-22". or is this sarcasm.. hmmm
