  1. I found several apps for Mac that show you a cheatsheet for the keyboard shortcuts for the program you are using. I can't believe there's nothing for windows. Does anybody know of one? here are some examples for mac: https://www.mediaatelier.com/CheatSheet/?lang=en http://www.hotkey-eve.com/ I'd find it really useful to learn and to remember shortcuts, and doesn't seem very complicated to develop although it wouldn't make any sense to do it only for myself. The interesting thing would be to have a community based database
  2. Now it does turn on, and it doesnt reboot, but nothing appears on the screen. I think the fan doesnt works with the profile that it's supposed to. For what happened to the screen I'm guessing it's either the GPU or the screen itself, most likely the first one. And the BIOS won't go any further because it knows. But neither of those is worth replacing fixing IMO. Anyway, thank you for the insight
  3. Is it possible that the battery is flat?
  4. Hello, i have a laptop that doesn't post and keeps restarting. I was using it and then it beeped and thrown a screen with rgb vertical lines. I've taken out the ram, hdd, wifi card, everything I could without getting into more serious stuff and no luck so far try putting this components in and out. Any idea what this may be? Or should I be starting to dig a hole for its grave? Here's the model number: HP G62 - 140SS Thank you
  5. Wow, what an amazing product, not cheap, but less expensive than i expected. Really nice video team, congratulations to Brandon and the official post-production princess, Taran
  6. Coolmod.com and pccomponentes.com will have everything he needs. Search there
  7. Well, theoretically you have to put more voltage to get the same loudness. So the amplifier will have to "work more"... They won't explode, but like I said it's not rated for that that kind operation, not enought thermall dissipation I supose...
  8. The best way you can aproach that is by passing the audio digitally throught hdmi to a receiver. The problem is that unless the receiver has outputs for the preamps you'll be forced to use the amplifier itself for the speaker driving... PD: Looks the're aren't very good sorround external cards out there What a pitty, but it's still an option
  9. Hello, I've recently been given a pair of old speakers that were broken. I fixed them (more on that here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Replace-dry-rotted-speaker-surrounds-with-cloth-re/) and they sound great, a lot better than i had expected. I've been using them with an amplifier that a friend lent to me and they are astonishing. I'm looking for an amplifier, but they are 4 ohms, and it's not easy to find amplifiers that are rated for that. People say it's okay to drive 4ohm speakers with 6 or more ohm rated amplifiers (and that's what I've been doing) but since this is a new acquisition I want it to be what it is supposed to be. What would you be recomendation for an amplifier/receiver with a good sound? My limit budget is 500€ since I know this stuff is expensive... but my sweetspot would be around 250-300€ aprox. The Yamaha RN-500 seems a perfect match, but it has some extra features that to be honest i don't need... (Althought the toslink is very attracting)
  10. Yes, that's why I don't want to use the 4tb hdd for the scheduled tasks...
  11. Hello, currently I have a 4tb hdd on my synology 214play two bay nas. My problem is that I need to do some tasks periodically that require disk access and I also want the hdd to spinoff so it doesn't wear that fast and isn't making noise all the time. My plan is to buy an ssd and make those read/writes there, while the 4tb stays off. Will that be possible if I run them in separate volumes? I've read that dsm is installed in raid 1. If I understand that correctly that means that is copied to both volumes. I understand that it is for redundancy, but how will dsm decide where to get the system files from? I don't want the 4tb hdd to spinup, so it would be fine if dsm was only in the ssd. Is that possible? I'm okay with having to configure dsm again if the ssd failed... I only care for the 4tb data (which by the way is backed up offsite) Thanks
  12. It's a unmanaged switch, cheap, TP-LINK, haven't had a problem with it but it's not very fancy... Doesn't matter, my NAS has only one gigabit port
  13. Hello, i've managed to borrow a network cable tester so I will be able to know if all the pairs are working. However, if the result is that at least one pair is not working I don't if I should replace the cable right ahead, Maybe there's a problem in the crimps? I've found out I really need this gigabit connection... Opening and saving TIFF's in photoshop takes foreeeever. Maybe i'd run two gigabits at once... Does anybody know if LACP works automatically between switches?
  14. I've made an experiment with a laptop (with gigabit) and it's defenitly the cable... NAS - ROUTER - CAT 5E LONG CABLE - LAPTOP: 100mbps NAS - ROUTER - CAT 5 short cable - LAPTOP: gigabit
