T0MMEN reacted to RONOTHAN## in LGA 1700 no flex bracket
They do, their improvement just varies depending on the cooler you're using. If you're using a pretty flat water block, the improvement is quite substantial (~5-7C), while if you're on a relatively curved air cooler like the NH-U12S like is listed in your signature, the improvement is going to be relatively minimal (2-3C).

That's about the improvement you can expect.

T0MMEN got a reaction from vivek.ns in Router CPU keeps hitting 100%
I dont know, i ended up RMA-ing the router. And bought the ASUS RT-AX53U for 50 bucks, that has 4cores and no more latency issue.

T0MMEN got a reaction from Jtalk4456 in "System" (Ntoskrnl.Exe) using alot of CPU
I doubt its malware, i just did a fresh windows 10 install. Ive checked all drivers, ive run microsoft memory tester, ive done sfc scannow, chdkdisk, bios update, cmos reset. I dont know what more i can do... 😞 Safe mode, ddu, everything i can think of... Altough in safemode cpu usage is 0%. So its something to do with windows 10.... but sfc scannow nor dism healthrestore can find any issues.

T0MMEN got a reaction from Xalzor in Why doesnt quick charge work ?
Im sorry, but do you even know how asus quickcharge works ? The phone cant take more power from the wall than its givven. Quickcharge does the same thing, it gives the phone as much power as it needs and can handle. With regular usb 2 port it doesnt give as much power as the iphone needs, it gives less. Hence the slower charge time. It has nothing to do with apple supporting it or not.
Edit: Im not gonna argue with stuff that i already know and have tryed out for myself. Im just here asking why it doesnt work with z370 mobo.

Is the batterylife fine? Swap the battery if you want better battery life.
THose temps are normal, I wouldn't worry abou them, 100c is the max for those chips.

T0MMEN reacted to Kisai in Is there any way to overclock OEM systems?
You can usually OC OEM systems that are based on the same chipset as a third party (eg z-series chipsets for Intel), but beyond that usually you're very limited.
Keep in mind that any gains you get from an old system OC are typically not worth the effort unless you just want to see it let the magic smoke out.

T0MMEN got a reaction from zeusthemoose in Is there any way to overclock OEM systems?
True.... But no, there is no OC option in bios. Only intel boost and hyperthreading option.

T0MMEN reacted to The Flying Sloth in Need help to find the right audio codec
I'm fairly certain it's the ALC221, there are a multitude of posts about it not working with hackintosh and it's outright listed on the websites of some resellers.

T0MMEN reacted to The Flying Sloth in Need help to find the right audio codec
The audio chip on the Elite 8300 is an ALC221 as far as I can tell.

T0MMEN got a reaction from Slayerking92 in Hobby server - How to stop windows updates?
Im running a home-server - hosting my steamcache, pihole, teamspeak , minecraft and csgo server. (using ubuntu VMs with HyperVM)
My question is simple: How can I turn off windows updates? Ive already pressed "Stop for 7days" as far as it goes. But is there some other ticks to make them stop completely ?
i5-3470 + 16gb 1333 + Windows Pro 1909 - build 1863.720. Its an old HP Compaq 8300

I don't see why it shouldn't work, so I think you're good with that.

T0MMEN reacted to minibois in Maybe a dumb question, but....
You have 4 types of USB ports on the back of your motherboard.
USB 2.0 Type A (peasant speeds), black ports
USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A (also known as USB 3.0 / USB 5Gbit), blue ports
USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A (10Gbit), the red port.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C (10Gbit)
The point of those last two ports is modern fast peripherals which can use those higher speeds (like an external SSD). You get this speed in two different ports, the 'normal' Type A variety and the newer Type C variety.

T0MMEN reacted to TetraSky in Cant format my computer - microsoft error
Use your phone (android/ios device) to access the Windows 10 download page. Because you are using a mobile device, it will let you straight up download the ISO of Windows 10 instead of going through the terrible Media Creation Tool that frankly should die in a fire from all the issues people are having it with.
With the ISO in hand, transfer it to a PC. Use RUFUS (leaving every options on default after selecting the ISO should be fine on modern PCs, might need to change the Target/Partition for older ones) to create a bootable USB drive of Win10.

T0MMEN got a reaction from alenbasic in Steam Caching Tutorial
Found a way to get pi hole and steam cache working at the same time, first install and setup pihole.
The follow this guid for steamcache : https://lurkingforgames.com/lancache
Then in pihole settings: 192.168.x.x/admin uncheck google and all other dns, then set upstream dns as your steamcache server, set router ip as pihole adress 192.168.x.x
Therer u go, took me a while, but not it works!

T0MMEN reacted to Eigenvektor in Can I change the ports on this? Ubuntu
It's a webserver (lightweight http daemon), which is why it is using port 80 (HTTP).
If you aren't using it, you can certainly stop and disable it (systemctl stop lighttpd, systemctl disable lighttpd).
Before you do that, open a browser and go to http://localhost, that should maybe give you a hint why a webserver is running.
~edit: I see you are running pihole, so that is most likely its web interface.

I'm gonna have to set this up for myself. I'm not sure where to go from here unless I actually have my hands on it to troubleshoot.

T0MMEN reacted to mariushm in How to make a run.bat file start another run.bat file
you can use @echo off at the start of the batch file to disable display of commands
you can say echo the text you want on screen to show something on screen
you can say exit to close the command prompt
so your batch file could be something like this
@echo off
echo Step 1 of 2. Launching steam
<steam command>
echo Step 2 of 2. Launching start.bat ...
<command>
echo "Done. Closing in 5 seconds."
timeout /T 5
exit
and the window should close.
If you want that start.bat to start and just run in background and have the original command prompt close, just don't use /wait for that command.
You can also use /min in the command (see all the parameters for start in the link) to make start auto minimize the start.bat 's command prompt as it's launched

T0MMEN got a reaction from kelvinhall05 in HP 8200 boot "error"
Its not a "proper" server. Its just for me and my friends. So we can talk to eachother. I also use it for some other small stuff - network sharing files, csgo server hosting.

T0MMEN got a reaction from kelvinhall05 in HP 8200 boot "error"
I tried that, hence i "had" a fan
Because i use it as a server, for example if the power goes out, and the pc restart. Some has to go and press F1 for the pc to boot.

T0MMEN reacted to Bananasplit_00 in Where can I find out what this sensor is?
just some random bug.
PCH is the chipset temp, both temps are fine. VRM you dont want to reach 125C, anything bellow that is ok
