"Single network with a rider range" is pretty much just a mesh system. If that's worth the extra expense, then by all means. Consumer Mesh was really just hitting the market when I was working networking, but Netgear's Orbi and Linksys's Velop seemed to be good choices? They might also have been the only choices at the time. Was google doing a mesh? is that still around?

yea i was looking at this system velop system here as a option https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YT5G7M7?tag=theun-20&ie=UTF8&linkId=b1aa8e50d6288c91ac1ec4f179304f53&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&geniuslink=true&th=1 i wish it had a max distance you can  space the 2 stations and still get strong signal instead of sq ft rating

Are you able to run a wire? Mesh can work but I wouldn't expect speeds to be that much better. It think 120-150 is pretty good at that range anyway.

You should be able to kind of make / simulate a single network by using the same SSID and password for the repeater.

the garage is a separate building a little over 100 feet away from the modem unless i wanted to run a wire under my driveway its not a option atm

  3. Hello i just updated to a 1gig line at my house and i have a trashy walmart range extender in my garage that is about 120 feet away from the router im getting speeds of about 120-150 which is fine but id like to upgrade to something more powerful with a wider range and that would preferable have a single network so when i go from the house to the garage outside my phone will just swap from one to the other im not even sure what i should be looking at there is so many products i feel like im just watching youtube videos but i dont even know what im looking for can someone help me narrow down this search.

    thx

FULL specs, including any storage devices and what's installed on them would maybe help.

But usually if these icons are white it means windows cannot read the storage device corresponding to these icons, so either something got unplugged or a hard drive is failing is my guess for now.

interesting ill try to reseat all the connections this afternoon just to eliminate it as a possibility.

  5. Hey guys i have a weird issue iv been trying to solve for a few weeks now iv given up searching for answers because im not even sure what's really wrong i just have a list of symptoms. So start up PC windows 10 with in 10 sec your looking at your desktop all the icons on my desktop display as a white page and if you try and click any of them the screen just flashes white. unable to use the windows key or open the start menu as its in a weird half loaded state and the icons to the right of the windows start icon are not present. now i am able to Ctrl Alt Del into task manager and from there i can go to file and click run new task and just type chrome or what ever i need to get done and it will open chrome and i can just go on with my day and randomly it will all just load i haven't noticed a pattern of what im doing when the desktop seem to unlock and start working but normally i just notice hey my task bar finally has icons on it and then my computer is fine until next restart.

iv tried safemode boot which as you would expect works fine i uninstalled anything recent that might have caused a issues but the only thing left that's new is bluestacks which was installed like 10 months ago and never caused a issue before. iv tried multiple weird things iv found targeting the repair of windows explorer.exe. My start menu boot has 3 items on its windows security notifications, adobe GC and Adobe start up utility.

Not sure what else to even look for at this point and every time i try and google my issue i get unrelated stuff that doesn't describe my issue at all

ill attach a video for more context after i restart it next assuming i don't throw it across the room

  6. currently visualizing those Christmas villages with the hidden magnets that move around under the ice to make the figures move around but instead put them into the levels of the house to make the doctors move from window to window =p

  7. Hey guys so i already have 2 copys of windows 10 on flash drive and i was about to purchase a 3rd one when i thought hey if i buy it in cd version i can save almost 20$ but the PC im building doesn't have a CD drive so i was wondering as i haven't purchased the CD before is the ID key for the OS on the CD when you buy it? or is it on a card like when you purchase the flash drive and you need to type it in? if that's the case then i should be fine to buy the CD and use one of my flash drives with the windows id from the CD? does that makes sense has anyone tried this?

This build is a little bit over, but I can explain.

The Skylake i3-6300 is a new-gen CPU that is over 30% better than the Athlon that you have according to User Benchmark. Since it is a Skylake CPU, it can take advantage of DDR4 memory, which offers a performance gap over the old DDR3 RAM.

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/bhnk9W that would be what I would do

you both have very similar ideas and i see benefit in this build with the possible upgrade paths in the future i could step up to a better skylate cpu or what ever or more ram on concern with the i3- 6300 is its 2 cores do you think thats enough for what id be playing i mean i know rocket league is demanded but say i wanted to toss on the forest or something i know the standard nowadays seems to be at least 4 cores for best performance?

That pc's CPU will be way to weak to do any streaming above 480p, You would need a 4Core 8Thread from Intel.

AMD Cpu's like Quad Cores dont compare at all to Intel Quad Core Cpu's.

I bet my Pentium G3258 4.6Ghz could do a better job..... just saying

Just saying is great thats the type of insider info im looking for from people more experienced than myself id like to be able to stream to my tv at 1080 of course so if you think that processor is going to bottle neck that that's exactly the type of info i was looking for ill do some homework on it thank you =]

  10. Hey guys so i haven't built a computer in about a year so i haven't really been paying attention to whats best on the market right now for low budget gear iv come up with a list i just threw together of stuff that seemed like a good value and it should do what i need it to do its probably even alittle over kill but for the amount of money im willing to spend on this little project i was wondering if you guys  could come up with a better build or maybe help me edit myn a bit

Budget 500$ can go over if the performance boost is justifiable

Must have wifi and im kinda set on the case i have selected in the link below

basically going to be a steam machine simple games like rocket league nothing fancy or AAA

in addition to light gaming duty it will be used for social media netflix and chill you know the works simple stuff

so here is my list plz give me some opinions =]

  11. very cool were was this when halo 2 came out it would have made split screen lan partys so much better. well its a cool concept i dont know if its practical for that price you could buy like 2 really nice monitors or a decently large tv that would still be usable with out blacking out your windows. if i get it for free thought.. oh god!!! id be playing games on the sides of building in the middle of town!!! or make my own out door movie theater!

  12. Hey guys so i have 4 decent led lights that i rescued from being thrown away they were previously use as work lights on a truck but they are stupid bright and it seemed a waste to just throw them away.

so i know they are labeled 12v-36v max but thats about it... id like to hook all 4 of them up to function off 1 power supply i might give each one its own switch or maybe just 2 switches with sets of 2 lights per switch. so the trouble im having now is i dont know what i should buy for a wall power supply to power these and i dont really have any more information on them either... could i use just a single 120v in down to 36v plug in and then use like a buck converter to move the voltage from 36v down to 12v to dim them if needed or would i overload that power brick? any info or circuit ideas would be appreciated =]

i was thinking something light this

i already have a few of these i was thinking of using to control the brightness and voltage

  13. oh well i was going to say you did a great job if it was paint =p

id get it all cut in vinyl and slap it on the case that way you can always peal it off if you want to change it and it still looks professional.

  14. what do you plan to do on those 3 monitors if the answer is gaming id probably step the graphics card up to at least a 980 if you want decent frame rates. also if its for gaming your better off investing in 1 good monitor with a better refresh rate for around the same price as you were going to pay for 3 bad monitors.
