Soonercoop got a reaction from TechyBen in Cox gets massively shafted - Jury awards music industry 1 billion dollars from Cox over copyright infringers
It's a shame that the RIAA should be allowed to continue to shaft parties who aren't even actually responsible for the perpetuation of piracy to no end. If they really wanted to stop piracy, they would funnel all of that money they spend on an army of lawyers each year into lobbying to change the system. Instead they try to bury unknowing families of child offenders and now wage war on companies who couldn't possibly manage being responsible for policing the actions of all of their users. All the while the masses continue to commit piracy because nothing can stand in their way and they will never be held liable. Now we innocent users will get to pay for it all as it trickles into our bills and fees.
Edit: $100,000 per case??!!! Are you sh*tting me?

TL:DR Walmart is offering a grocery delivery service that will enter your house and put the food in your fridge.

Sounds perfect. No security issues could possibly arise from this...

The VRM wasn't throttling, the Asus Maximum XI Hero defaults to adhering to the Intel TDP spec so only allows short bursts above TDP then drops down to that. Gamers Nexus used the same motherboard and shows the same behavior in that video. All other motherboard sent out for review, the high end ones, default to removing the TDP limit which has actually been the standard for a very long time.

Basically all CPUs in the past have been reviewed with the Intel TDP limit removed, how the reviewers want to deal with that going forward is up to them. It's similar to the MCE situation, realistically everyone is going to have it on but how should a review handle that.

Soonercoop reacted to markwrc in Asus ROG Zenith Extreme doesn't think it needs to be compatible with RTX 2080Ti's BUYERS BEWARE
No such thing as the Zenith Apex, der8auer used a Rampage VI Apex which is X299 based (Intel) completely different platform. You won't really find TR or Ryzen being used to break benching records cause it has issues being validated for the scores to be uploaded onto HWBot, plus TR sucks to be put on cold, sadly.

Also Timespy Extreme has a core count limit of 24, so if you were using a 2990WX you'd be better off disabling 8 cores it also is AVX based so it favors Intel anyway

I'm sad that most cases nowadays exclude any external 5.25 bays. In my mind it helps justify the ATX form factor for actually using all that space for something.

The R6 had mostly the same features and build of this and they reviewed it highly so I wouldn't expect a big difference in their review. iirc, these cases have a big enough gap the vertical gpu performance is tolerable.

Microsoft has given up on UWP Offices apps mostly thanks to the death of Windows Phone and Windows 10 Tablets.

The Verge reports that Microsoft has ceased development of Touch optimized UWP Office apps for Windows. The company will allegedly be focussing on Android and IOS Office apps as well as Win32 Desktop apps for Office.

Honestly, if Office 2019 for Desktop is actually an Electron App (we don't 100% know yet) then this would make a lot of sense. And Microsoft would still be able to package Office and distribute it via the Windows Store as they have been doing for a while.

I'm hoping that if Office 2019 is Electron based that they'll finally make a Linux version of their Office apps.

Soonercoop reacted to Taf the Ghost in GIGABYTE Notice - USTR Finalizes Tariffs on $200 Billion of Chinese Imports
The USA is, depending on the year, the 2nd or 3rd largest exporter in the world. Largest Food exporter. Largest importer of non-perishable items. Oh, and the world's largest market. The USA is the world leader in IP, R&D and Business Services, along with most heavy manufacturing tech and a near monopoly on extraction technologies.

Though, for our purposes, the USA is also the world's leading exporter of "Fake News". Trump won by playing the game. Re-read my first paragraph. Nearly all manufacturing can be moved back to the USA in 1-2 years, if necessary. As technological production automates more & more, there's little reason to have line workers that a paid extremely poorly to put things together.

But, on the Fake News aspect, that's really why people don't understand these issues. We're victims of highly interested groups that want to push very specific economic interests. And those economic interests go against the interests of the majority of Americans. It's fairly simple. The tariffs change calculations for everyone involved in an industry. Sure, Americans, for a time, might be pay $2 extra on a $20 USD purchase, but how is that different than price fluctuations that generally happen? But that pricing difference changes what local producers can do within a market. 25% import tariff can protect entire industries, as that's a pretty standard level of tariff in most of the world.

Leadership positions are only lost because you get invaded & conquered. Or, in the case of much in the States, foreign & domestic enemies of the people conspired to exfiltrate the wealth of the country. Trump's being "nice" at this stage. The USA can obliterate China's economy overnight, which is why the "trade normalization" process is going in steps. As much as China doesn't like this, this was hashed out back in early 2017 when Xi visited Florida. What we're seeing is the slow rollout of a process that'll still take a few more years, as to keep the disruptions down a bit. The power of long-term planning.

    6 more years.

It looks like they're going to push CAD to 1.4, 1.5 and possibly far higher than that. Might take a trip down to 1.2 before they do it though. It's the likely explanation for why Trudeau & company have been ordered to tank the NAFTA negotiations. You guys are in for some pain over the next few years.
