Even if he does have G-sync he won't need it with a 380 as unlike a 960 that gets 45 fps in Battlefront Ultra, the 380 can manage 60 fps in that game effectively removing the need for G-sync.

GeForce Experience:  While nice, I've found it does not always deliver the optimal settings for my games.  I've found it to be somewhat conservative and I can get more by tweaking my settings.  Preferring one manufacturer over another for giving you a rough cheat sheet on in game settings is stupid.

Now if you've bought in to the nVidia ecosystem via a Shield, G-Sync, etc then just say that and most folks will happily restrict their answers to nVidia products.  Low information posts such as "ugh BRAND" are useless and frankly just waste the time of people trying to help you.

By running your voltage at 1.42v 24/7 you're increasing the chance of 'tomorrow' and moving the marker away from '10 years'.

To load software you bought a book, typed in the program via that shitty little keyboard, using the tiny little screen.  Then it didn't run because you made a typo and you became angry, yelled at it for awhile, and then just assigned the task to a grad student.  Sadly for me I often was that grad student.

Sarah personally though has a history of looking for drama where there is none at least within the Linux community.  Her initial run in with Linus (T not S) and other folks came from her jumping into the middle of a mailing list conversation.  Ingo, Linus, and Greg KH were talking pull requests and a joke was made about submitting pulls to Greg since he's nice.  Linus then jokes Greg might be too nice and also that Greg is a giant human so he might accidentally squish someone due to his size and not realize it.

At this point Sarah jumps in screaming how it is not okay to advocate physical violence, despite the fact due to the use of emoticons by some folks, etc it was pretty clear this was just poking fun at Greg for being a giant human being, not saying Greg was going to come to your house and throw you through a wall for having low quality code.  Even more interesting, Sarah is the first member of the conversation to use profanity in this conversation, despite her claims the swearing needs to go away.  She comes in with how it is not fucking acceptable to threaten physical violence and so on and so forth.  She immediately goes to Twitter and attempts to jump onto the #adainitiative hashtag to get attention about installing a code of conduct.

It doesn't really go anywhere, no one else rallies to her, and now after that fell flat she's leaving Linux.  Frankly with some egg on her face in terms of professional conduct in this case.

Yes, but you're not really going to use the extra threads in gaming right now.  Keep the cash in your pocket and upgrade later.  6700 prices will only drop as additional CPUs come out.  Or as Nena said you might want to jump right to a Cannonlake depending on what Intel offers.  The current Skylake CPUs are really only our first sniff of the new stuff, no reason to go all in on the appetizers they're currently tossing over the walls.

I don't think the K is really safer.  I'd say the general rule for overclocking is it improves your experience within a range.  Like it makes a good experience better, but it can't make a shitty experience great.  Unless you really win the silicon lottery and get a beast.

Given the R9 is pricier, I'd save money now and go 6500 and 970.  The reality is right now Windows 10 is primarily gaining market share at the expense of Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 is holding stable at 50% of the market.  So this means developers are going to either need to produce games that run well on DX11 for quite some time and the GTX 970 is a strong DX11 card.  They can't just go all in on DX12 at this point, unless MS pays them off to make a DX12 showpiece.

R9 390 for the video card, additional VRAM and better context switching is a better bet right now if your goal is 3 to 4 years of gaming with reasonable performance.

Do you plan on a significant overclock?  If yes, buy the 6600K, if no, buy the 6500.

It's probably because as inexperienced devs, they thought the same as many end users and believed the hype. Here's the truth: Performance gains will be minimal at best for DX12 initially, since it will basically means a lot of relearning and recoding to take advantage of potential DX12 gains that will remain mostly potential for months or even years.

If your clients pay for camera coverage, the company for sure needs to do better than a consumer grade GPU. A price tag of 2-3k is rather unrealistic because you need cards that even support that many monitors.
