  1. Picking out PSUs are not my forte. I usually go for what's needed and then add a bit of wiggle room for possible upgrades. He's reconsidering the ram amount.
  2. Hi guys, coming at you with a new build for a friend. He picked most of the parts himself with my guidance. I just wanted a second opinion on what he got going. A monitor, hard drive, keyboard, and mouse is not needed we are using those from the old system. Also, the ram we selected was not the same exact one on the list. Full part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xDpf2R Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for all the help. I'm going to look at all the info and review my options. Ill keep you all posted on how the build comes out
  4. Hi all, first time posting here. Hopefully you'll can help me out here on building this new PC. 1. Budget & Location Location is in the US and there isn’t a budget on this. I don't mind saving up for something that will last for a while. That being said, I would like to save money whenever possible. If there is something cheaper that performs just as well or better I’m cool with it. 2. Aim It’s going to be a gaming pc with some video editing on the side, if I ever do have time for a YouTube/twitch account. I’m mostly going to be playing FPS and flight simulator games. I also want to enjoy the benefit of something that can run 60 frames and barely break a sweat. 3. Monitors For now I’m picking out a monitor that I feel has just what I need. 60 htz refresh rate, 4k resolution, DisplayPort capabilities, pivot, rotate swivel, and wall mount options. I do plan on going onto 3 monitors in the future. But for now it’s not needed. 4. Peripherals I already have a mouse and keyboard, mic, and webcam. I don't have a flight stick and would like one for more advanced flight simulators. Currently I'm using an Xbox One controller (pain in the butt because of how easily it disconnects). 5. Why are you upgrading? The reason for me to upgrade is because I started out with a budget build 3-4 years ago. The fan on the GPU seems to be failing resulting in system shutdowns. So I’m taking the opportunity to just start fresh. I’m would like a system that can support features that are currently out for example 3.0 USB, DisplayPort, and more powerful hardware overall. Thermaltake Chaser MK-I ATX Full Tower Case Seagate Momentus 5400.6 (250 GB) LG Blueray drive Razer mouse and keyboard Reasoning behind the parts I wanted the latest chipset for mother board that supported SLI configs. That led me to an 1120-v3 socket. I chose the i7-5930K because I’ve used an i5 in my previous build and would imagine the i7 as the next step up. The reason for a 5930 is because it’s their mid-tier CPU currently out for this socket. I picked out a minimal amount of ram compared to the motherboard I currently have but it’s an upgrade. Finally I chose the Strix GTX 980Ti because an EKWB was available for it. However, after reviewing the parts needed to set up a liquid cooling system from EK. I decided that it would be way too much for a custom loop through them. That being said any advice on this would be appreciated. Things like who I should look into, All-In-One systems, DIY loops, or if I should even liquid cool my CPU/GPU. The power supply I picked is very high in the wattage. I did this with a dual GPU/liquid cooled system in mind. Once the build comes closer to finalization I would look to bring that down to a more realistic level. Questions: · What liquid cooling solution should I go with? · Based off the dimensions the GPU seems to be a bit on the long side for the MOBO. I just wanted to know how big of an issue this could be. My case seems to be big enough to support the length. · What is your advice or suggestions on the build? TL;DR What are somethings that I can do better with/without on this build and how should I go about cooling my pc.
