Get this workstation which can be converted into a suitable low-end server.

This would be a good starting point.

If you got this Workstation, you can add another hard drive to increase the storage space.

    HP Z420 Workstation Xeon E5-1620

Then get a powerful Wi-Fi router such as this one...

Amped Wireless High Power 700mW Dual Band

At that point, all of the roommates would be able to connect to the Wi-Fi, which is connected to the workstation and you would be using the resources from that workstation to do your gaming.

Number one reason why people upgrade and/or build new computer systems...

Their so called "future-proof" computer had become obsolete.

Therefore, there is NO such thing as a "future-proof" computer system.
Once you build that computer, it's already obsolete. That's the way it is.
Nothing anyone can do about it.

Get that notion out of your head about building a "future-proof" system because it doesn't exist.

Just because PCPartPicker puts that disclaimer in every computer build, YOU and only YOU are 100% responsible for obtaining the EXACT cost of your computer build.

Prices change daily... sometimes in matter of hours... it's IMPOSSIBLE for anyone in Linus Tech Tips forums to give you an EXACT final cost due to the ever changing pricing that is always happening.

So... stop your whining and realize that no matter what... YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FINAL COST OF YOUR COMPUTER BUILD... not us!!

You asked this forum for assistance and you were given that assistance. If you don't like the assistance that is given to you on someone else's time, you have a serious problem.

If you are expecting people from the internet to give you the exact final price (with taxes and all) on a computer build... I do wish you the best of luck!
