With more people working remotely, long gaming sessions and so on I'm surprised no discussions or even a video for Chair Mats have really popped up here - at least that I see.
They can be as cheap as $20 or upwards of $200 and more. There are a number of different manufacturers and brands including store-brands. Often you can see a number of specific big office brand/suppliers not even having reviews on Amazon or Staples or Office Depot here in the states - paid volume reviews on Amazon not withstanding.
Me and my fellow remote workers tend to have to by a new one every year or less. Or just let floor/carpet get almost "eaten" away. Seems even 100s of reviews don't always match experiences.
What are thoughts and past experiences for:
Cleaning (this is where feet and floor meet)
materials best for light to frequent or anti-microbial use
how to tell what carpet you have from low-profile commercial, 1/4 - 1/2 or more pile residential
what designs actually stay put on hardwood floors and similar surfaces
what materials are loud (seems bamboo is) or crack with sharp pinches or edges
best brands for Warranty and durability
best value from Linus sized to Luke+ sized individuals
what to look out for (toxic materials, texture/feel for feet, too slick to roll)
best brands for rubber coated wheels for hardwood floors
