  1. This build looks good but if you are planning to use it for anything apart from gaming, an SSD will seriously help the speed of the system. Of course if you do not care about program load times etc then it is not worth it but an SSD seriously helps to future proof a system like this. I would also recommend a slightly more powerful PSU just because a more powerful supply will likely last longer and be more efficient, making it worth the investment in the long run. My recommendations: SSDs: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zc8Zxr/a-data-internal-hard-drive-asp600s3128gmc (for a more reputable brand) or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NHX2FT/team-l5-lite-120gb-25-solid-state-drive-t2535t120g0c101 (cheaper) PSU: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B6XnTW/cooler-master-masterwatt-550w-80-bronze-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-mpx-5501-amaab-us
  2. I finally fixed this issue using the intel HD graphics driver found on the Acer website here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6938?b=1 After installing and restarting I could control brightness as expected (although the buttons seem to be reversed). I hope this helps anyone else having this problem.
  3. I recently bought a new acer swift 3 laptop and when I first tried it out, I attempted to change the brightness only to find that the shortcut (fn + left/right arrow) didn't work. I discovered this was a software problem as all other functions work correctly and I cannot even change my brightness by sing the windows slider, as it is greyed out and stuck at 0%. I have tried updating both the display and display adapter drivers through device manager but both are up to date. The system specs are: CPU: i5-7200U with HD Graphics 620 RAM: 8GB 256GB SSD
  4. I fixed it and yes I think it is due to Mantle. If anyone else has done this, I do not think it is necessary to delete (uninstall) your entire game. The way I fixed it was to simply delete the file that holds all of your settings (ProfileOptions) which can be found under: Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save
  5. Yes it is, only use Origin for this and Battlefield 4. BF4 is completely fine but DA:I will not reach the main menu
  6. Hi all! I have a very annoying problem that has just developed with Dragon Age: Inquisition. I played it for about an hour this morning and I just tried to start it up again, only for it to glitch out heavily on startup (multiple windows appearing) or just get most of the way through the loading onto the main menu and the freeze and crash. Has anyone got any advice for how to fix this problem? All of my drivers are up to date and I only downloaded the game last night so it is all up-to-date. I have tried repairing the game in Origin and running it as administrator but nothing has helped. Thanks for any advice!
  7. Hi all! I have a Gigabyte Windforce 2x R9 380 and I was wondering if it was possible to turn off the LEDs (the ones that show the WINDFORCE logo in blue) through software. I know it is possible to remove the power connector or do something similar but I just want to be able to turn it off for when I go to bed, but leave my PC on. Any response is welcome.
  8. I recently bought a second monitor (an LG ultrawide) to use with my existing Benq monitor. However, I am having problems with my computer recognising the second monitor. It is picked up immediately in the pre-windows BIOS screens and also shows the windows 10 loading icon before I reach the lock screen. At this point it does not receive a signal and it is not detected at all within windows (in display settings etc). Has anyone come up with a fix to this problem? I've looked around a lot of forums but I have been unable to find a solution that works for me so far. I have tried all of the ports on the card (except DisplayPort) and they all work perfectly. 9. Hi guys, I am living in a rural area at the moment, with a limited broadband connection. My ISP does, however, allow for free data use between 00:00 and 06:00. I was wondering if there is any way to get a browser (preferably chrome) to only download between these hours (I leave my computer on normally at night). Thanks!
  10. I have not yet used a Cryorig CPU cooler but I have 4 of their QF120 fans and I can say that they are very good and quiet for the price. This probably will translate into a quiet CPU cooler with one of their fans on it and could probably save you a few if you buy one of their products rather than going with Noctua and their (slightly BS) prices.
  11. I agree with Insp1r3, the Kingston V300 is not a very good SSD now, they changed a few of the key components they used and people are getting low read and write speeds compared with what is advertised. I originally was going to go with that drive but I swapped to a SanDisk 128GB SSD and it has performed excellently.
  12. Shouldn't be any, although I am not an expert. I would have to find an article to back me up.
  13. Not much to be honest It is often just marketing done by the companies to reassure people that their products will work with that version of windows. Because the 990fx motherboard is not that recent a product it probably came out at about the same time as windows 8.1 did, whereas the R9 380 was released after the time of windows 10's release. Both will function fine on almost any windows OS post-xp.
  14. Hi all! I have recently built my first computer inside a corsair air 240 case and am now looking to swap out the intel stock cooler I am using at the moment with something hopefully a bit quieter and a bit better looking. I had been looking at mostly top-down airflow coolers such as the GeminII from Cooler Master or the C7 or C1 from Cryorig, but I have recently seen a few posts that have said that the air 240 actually has slightly over the stated 120mm clearance for air coolers and I was looking on the cryorig website and noticed that the (rather attractive, I might add) M9 is about 125mm tall. I am looking for advice from owners of the case or links to other posts which reference this topic, although all advice is welcome! Thanks.
