  1. It definitely looks much better, thanks for taking the time to do this!
  2. That would be perfect, thanks!
  3. I might be asking too much but is it possible for you to post two 1080p screenshots of a game with no anti-aliasing, but one with DSR/VSR enabled? Is it a very noticeable effect?
  4. I have 1x240 radiator on the top for the CPU, but GPU is air cooled.
  5. I used the front and top fans as intake to achieve positive pressure in the case overall. Don't forget to get some dust filters!
  6. I've never understood the bashing in the first place. People can buy what they want. I want an Alienware for the road, so I bought an Alienware. I wanted a gaming desktop, so I picked the parts and put one together at home where the real demanding games are played. Then I wanted a show-case desktop, so I cut some tubes, bent them, and stuck some UV reactive fluid in them for shits and giggles. All of the above have a purpose, and they make me (the one who spent the money) happy. That's what matters, not what others think of your purchase decision.
  7. And just like 99% of the people in this world, they will not buy Alienware. HEY BOYS WE'VE GONE FULL CIRCLE... THRICE!
  8. If I only had 1799 euros to spend I wouldn't be buying that Alienware anyways LOL. You are entirely correct that you will be getting more performance for your money with option 2. It is the option I would go to if I had to buy a desktop on a budget, and if those are the only two options I have. I follow Linus because he's from my home town, we have similar views, and I used to shop at NCIX way too often. I do need a gaming laptop though. I go on business trips very often, sometimes they can last for more than a month. The same old bar in the same old hotel gets boring very fast. Yes, my company provides me with a workstation and a work laptop, but those are for work.
  9. 1: Semantics 2: That depends, you mentioned the custom PC is water cooled, which is definitely a hobbyist/enthusiast undertaking. But in general, the amount of people out there who assemble their own PC's are very small. 3: I've assembled quite a few custom PC's over the years, yet I still bought an Alienware laptop last year. In fact, I know a number of my friends in my area who have done the same.
  10. That bamboo is absolutely stunning. I would love to work with that in a future build.
  11. I don't think you understand... The individual who bought the Alienware PC isn't looking for value, but looking for an Alienware. The individual who built their custom PC is a hobbyist/enthusiast. The individual who have both the Alienware and the custom PC just destroyed your judgmental and elitist views. None of these decisions effect how "smart" this person is.
  12. So do you explode when you get invited over to someone's home and see both an Alienware Alpha PC and a custom water cooled beast? Maybe you spin incredibly fast and the iron in your blood generates infinite energy for the world? Forbid anyone have a choice
  13. No one is asking you to understand, It's very hard for someone to see what they don't want to see. Alienware is perhaps one of the biggest players of the early custom PC industry, iconic enough for me.
  14. No sir, I've disliked beats as a brand from it's inception, the poor quality for its price was the nail in the coffin. I personally have a set of Swan M10's at home, and XiaoMi Pistols if I need an in-ear solution. I know how you feel, because I spout the same elitist nonsense to my Beats-loving friends. Then I grew a brain and realized people are allowed to like what they like, and there's a lot more to a product than boring magazine specs and "real world performance".
  15. Although I don't play much anymore, I've managed to get both my main and alt to global, it's very easy now after the vaccening (compared to before).

    LoL VS. DotA 2?

I think both are great games, and experiences will obviously differ due to preference and the people you end up playing with (luck of the draw for most of us). I think another aspect is the level you play at. To expand on that, a serious amateur dota player will be focusing on the current meta, drafting, mechanics, and require heavy reliance on teamwork to make any progress in any competitive setting (AD2L, CEVO etc.). Many casual players don't understand that even amateur players at this level drill with their team very often, and is more similar to a "sport" than a "game". I'm certain this is the same in the LoL scene, but I can't comment much since I've only played two games due to pressure from my friends. My initial impressions were however, that the games are very similar on the surface, but they start to become vastly different at a higher level of play.
  17. Plenty of bashing against Alienware in here, as usual! Personally, I have a 17 R5 with the 4800MQ and the 780M. Serves me well with the games I play (dota2, cs:go, elite dangerous). It is great bringing the laptop with me when I'm on my long business trips, and also helps that it looks amazing just laying around. Great to see Alienware put stronger hardware in their products to meet the needs of their niche market! There will always be people who don't understand that buying a product is not always about the specs and real world performance. Emotions play a big part, especially in regards to an iconic brand such as Alienware, and the feeling that comes with owning one is worth the price alone.
