I love and hate going on Twitter and looking at the #NetNeutrality tag. Love seeing people rally for support (even though resistance is surely futile), but I hate reading all the comments of people that have no idea what they're talking about.

And it's on both sides, too! I'm sure it's because it's been boiled down to a partisan debate (AKA no real argument). If you're for NN then you must be a fascist liberal/democrat/whatever!!1! If you're against NN then you're a justice-seeking libertarian/republican/whatever and want the govt out of private business!!!111!!1!

It's so disgustingly polarized. People have removed the grey area of NN and few have actual facts and/or sources.

And so many people think this has to do with censorship. They think that NN means the govt controls what happens on the internet and without NN the internet will be "free." What does that even mean??? Most people don't even know why Tom Wheeler assigned ISPs as common carriers. It's because he couldn't enforce NN while they were Title 1!

Yeah. People don't understand that, even with their wishful thinking, small local ISPs can't succeed. Verizon, AT&T, TWC (Charter/Spectrum), and Comcast have totally buttfucked municipal and state laws with lobbied protections basically making it impossible for new ISPs to build infrastructure and compete. The barrier to entry is so high that even Google is having trouble making money.
