There wasn't anything else out, when GSYNC hit.

The only CPUs you can tweek a Z170 or Z270 to run that are Coffee lake are the Pentium and i3s. Anything with 6 cores is off the table. You're basically running a Coffee Lake i3, as a Kaby Lake i5. That's how you pull it off.

Another project of mine. T3500 with a Xeon w3540, 12g of DDR3 ECC (triple channel), ATI HD4670, and other goodies. HD4670 is a place holder for another card so the finished build will be posted as well. Wanted to show off the mod to the factory passive CPU cooler, added a 80mm fan. Temps after 15min of compiling were 60c, down almost 10c.

Yes those are zip ties, yes it's a LED fan, no I have no shame.

Because of the screendoor effect in VR, a problem caused by being so close to the pixels. Using current VR headsets doesn't work for productivity.

Actually Intel can't solder them. To a guy like me it's a non issue, actually kinda adds to the connection between me and my PC that I delidded myself. But I get why it upsets some.

my old hardware pentium 4, 2x 512 mb sticks of ddr ram an ati Radeon x300 that’s pretty much dead and a 200gb hard disk drive on a ptgd-vx mother board btw I’m assuming the pentium is a 775 but I’m not entirely surest could be 478 but the protruding pins confuse me I’m very ameteur especially to this old stuff so if somone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated but this is the tear down of my first build I’m not trying to do something crazy I know it’s useless tech but if I can get it to run some older games that’d be cool It already booted and ran but I turned up the gpu that was already unstable and it craped the bed I don’t really wanna build something more to date yet because I never done this before and don’t wanna spend that much money if I mess up (plus I got this all for free)

Certainly into old territory, but I finally softmodded my Xbox and threw in an 80GB 7200.7 which is barely enough for now as you can tell by the F partition (defo gonna need an upgrade). All it needs now is the clock cap removed since mine leaked and I just band-aided it (well and a component cable because composite looks like ass). Probably wouldn't hurt to find an adequate 80-wire cable even though for what it has in it, crosstalk really isn't a problem.

Also press F to pay respects to the young WD2500BB that was in it before the very well-used Seagate drive, it seems to disagree with the Xbox or it's dying.

Hi. So I found a 17 year old graphics card in my father's old stuff. It's got some glue on it so I don't really know if it'll work or not but it's with the original packaging and manual and CD and stuff. Anybody know how much it would sell for at an auction?

    Details
    Geforce2 MX400 with 64 MB of SDRAM

recently started restoring a old PC for a friend. the old mobo was waterdamaged because he stored this thing in his shed. i replaced that with a mATX board i had laying around.

    specs as she now stands:

    Core 2 DUO E6600
    4GB DDR2
    Radeon 3870
    Asrock 1394a

    planned upgrades:
Core 2 Quad of some kind, or a modded Xeon.
maybe a R9 290? those are pretty cheap nowadays.
    up the RAM to 8GB.

should be enough to play some older games still! i will also get a better cooler so we can OC it as far as it goes.

I don't dislike consoles. I dislike the disguising of PCs as consoles when in a perfect wold we could just have every game for every platform.

I dislike the locked-down nature of a console compared to a PC. What if I don't WANT to use a PS4 controller? What if I want to spend more and get better graphical fidelity? I'd much rather have a Nintendo Switch++ and run BotW at 60FPS... but I can't because console.

So yeah, there are things I dislike about them but I also see the purpose of different products in the marketplace and I'm not blinded by my hatred or them or anything.

I bought a switch not long ago and I and my kids do more console gaming together than PC gaming at the moment.

My server is an Sandy Bridge P67, and when I accidentally blew the board up with a loose screw, I had to pay a king's ransom on ebay for a replacement. I can definately sympathise.

I have 2 w3540s and a x5660, really want a X58 custom board so I can overclock it, but if you find a board they're sometime more than modern brand new ones. It's crazy. Keep living the dream, hope that board of yours has many days left in it.

I'm definitely overdue an upgrade (See my Angelic Rose thread). I wouldn't sell this board on though because I have a feeling it's dying.

App4that got a reaction from Morgan MLGman in Is an AMD-based laptop worth choosing?
I'm a complete Lenovo fanboy, because they balance the line between prioritizing cooling, and not being a giant brick you carry around. Honeslty I use my Y700 for work in a dual boot config (windows/Linux) and the 6700HQ has never been a limitation. Rarely is time a larger factor than just getting it done. For time I use desktops that completely curb stomp any laptop.

So, I guess my advise is worry less about the Intel/AMD and more about what it is you want and will be happy with. Make sure you can live with it going everywhere you do, and less about earth shattering performance that's the land of desktops. Don't sacrifice all the performance, just enough. Also kill all the drives with nuclear fire before doing anything else (fresh instal of any and all OS) to purge it of bloat.

Ignore the clock speed on the box.
GPU Boost 3.0 will make the card run well above 1800MHz-1900MHz automatically without you having to touch anything.
