  1. Facebook marketplace is where i usually sell electronics. Just look at other ps4s in your area and what they're selling for, and price it accordingly. If anything slightly inflate the price a bit so you're more likely to get the money that you want for it, as there's always room for negotiation.
  2. Alright so i just got new home internet from fido and I get 100mbs down and 10 up. I have a dlink powerline adapter (d-link dhp-309av) that i have now repurposed just for my laptop since i dont need the 2nd router in my room for my phone anymore. I get 60 on my phone and 90 with wifi on my laptop in my room. but connected directly thru powerline my laptop isnt getting more than ~22mpbs on speedtest. both the adapters are plugged into the wall and they've been in use for ~ 2 years and did fine. They're supposed to be rated up to 500mbs per second so im confused. I already hard reset them thru with the buttons too. Any suggestions? If i run my 5g wifi to my laptop will i be prone to lag spikes?
  3. i bought it during black friday sales. try back to school, the reason i got it so cheap is cause i also used a unidays discount code on top of the sale price.
  4. inspiron 7567 or 7577 if you can get it on sale. I paid around $1100CAD ($900USD) for my 7577 with an i5, 1060 max q and 256gb ssd and it's a pretty solid computer. backlighting for the keyboard is a lil dim but the rest of the laptop is pretty solid. feel free to ask any questions.
  5. 110 CAD before taxes at the very most, i really dont wanna spend more than $90 unless i see value, if that makes sense.
  6. Should i use my current headphones Sony MDR950BT (hardwired) and just get a blue ICE? or should i just get a new headset (Arctis 3, 5 , g230/430)? i don't really care about 7.1 audio, as long as i can hear directional audio in CS and other FPS games properly My trition kunais finally started breaking at the wire, and only work when the cable is flexed a certain way I already know that people do this with studio monitors (which my headphones are not) and they use a modmic, if anyone running a similar setup could give me their opinion, that'd be great.
  7. check to see if multicore rendering is enabled in settings. If it doesn't fix the problem, reinstall. I used to only get 120fps (i5 7300 & 1060 6gb) until i reinstalled the game. Now on most maps i get 160-200 fps
  8. do you guys get hit with crazy inflation? the model i posted comes out to 1180 EU
  9. Dell inspirion 7577 I went from a macbook pro to this and i have no regrets, its a pretty good gaming laptop, and if you can get it on sale, its honestly a steal because it's significantly cheaper than other 1060 laptops (the max q design is 10% worse than a regular 1060) the only caveats is that the battery life is short, like most other gaming laptops and the chassis is made out of plastic, but well made. http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/cty/pdp/spd/inspiron-15-7577-laptop/ni157577_bt_h615e here's dave 2ds review of the 7577
  10. So now i'm looking at how low i can go for getting a decent mech keyboard on amazon and i found this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B071D8XWH7/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i2?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B071D8XWH7&pd_rd_r=5e8cd71c-da1b-11e7-b826-eb3b2a9a9ae1&pd_rd_w=U1rlc&pd_rd_wg=set4Z&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=5BBZ8GQYDYVA6RHQ8W0V&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=07871b8e-d32a-4963-b98f-ba712077f7f5&pf_rd_i=desktop will i regret not having backlighting on a keyboard? and are Outemu switches really that inconsistant? im looking on reddit and everyone seems to have a different answer.
  11. Also, Mechanical-feeling keys, whats that all about? is it a marketing scheme for membrane keyboards?
  12. how do the romer g switches feel? i haven't heard too much about them.
  13. yeah screw that, i have bad luck with getting defective products, don't need to deal with that. would kailh switches be better?
  14. the reddreagon has outemu switches, should i avoid it then?
  15. I use it so often, most of the time i leave it on slient by accident. I also silence my apple watch too.
  16. Okay, so I just got a gaming laptop (dell 7577) and I'm debating whether or not to buy a reddragon mech keyboard $40CAD with fake blue switches, or wait until boxing day and buy a logitech, razer or corsair keyboard for around $100 CAD give or take. The main things I'm looking at are build quality, it has to have a metal backplate in it, has to have red leds to match my laptop (or rgb) and if i spend $100 it has to have cherry switches. I dont care too much about macros and i don't have a brand preference. I'm just curious if the more expensive boards are worth it, or if im just buying the name. The cheap gaming mouse I have (hiraily F300) was only $25 and its great, it's literally an RGB deathadder without the razer logo on it. It makes me wonder if there is even a point to buying the mainstream stuff. If you guys have any recommendations for good value for money keyboards post them below. Thanks. RedDragon Keyboard (I'm also deciding whether to go tkl or full) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1ZISJF7TQS300&colid=1TJ2FPC4HZGSH&psc=1
  17. Here's a review from a perspective that is seemingly rare. I used windows all my life, then I was given the chance to go to Mac for well under MSRP. Now after a year of using a 2015 macbook pro 13, and finally giving up because i couldn't run both macos and windows 10 on a 120gb hard drive. I finally decided to go back to windows because i needed it to run programming software for college, and more importantly I wanted to start playing video games properly (going from 60 fps @ 720p to 140fps on maxed out settings makes CSGO feel like a different game). Here's a rundown of the specs: GTX 1060 MAX Q 6gb 8gb DDR4 RAM i5 7300 HQ 1080p IPS 15.6 display NVME 256gb ssd 57wh Battery with quick charge Build Quality: Well, coming from a Macbook pro, this thing isn't too bad. It has the usual traits of a well built laptop: no deck flex, sturdy keys, not too much screen flex (but the panel does have a little backlight bleed) and overall feels solid. (Also, their choice in material was a good one. Smooth sturdy plastic instead of rubberized plastic) Aesthetic: Going from a Macbook, which is often praised for their minimal aesthetic to something relatively "gamer aesthetic" was an abrupt change. Thankfully, this laptop isn't too in your face. Red backlighting, with a red border around the trackpad, as well as a red dell logo and red exhaust vents. its pretty unassuming imo. The bezels on this laptop are huge though. if i had to guess it's at least half an inch on all sides with the bottom being the thickest. Ironic considering dell's almost invisible bezels on their XPS line. Performance: I'll admit I'll probably not do this laptop any favors considering this is the field I'm the least experienced in. This is my first gaming laptop, and what a machine it is. The first hour it was out of the box i immediately noticed how much more powerful it is than the Macbook just downloading games. For the most part, I get over 100fps most of the time in the games that i'm playing currently. which is mostly CS:GO, Saints row 3 and Overwatch all on the highest possible settings. The only game that didn't run too well was just cause 3, which is because my laptop was configured with only 8gb of RAM. Keep that in mind if you play really demanding titles. Battery life is typical for a gaming laptop, at around 4 hours and 1.5 hours gaming. Its a huge difference compared to the 7-8 i was getting on Mac, but it doesn't really bother me considering i keep this on the charger most of the time. Temps are good. underload the hottest temp i saw was 68c, not bad for a 1060. Ergonomics: The keyboard is good, great feel, properly spaced out, has a numpad and the texture of the keys is smooth, instead of being textured and cheap feeling. The backlighting is Red, 2 stage and weak. my $25 RGB gaming mouse has far better leds. The trackpad uses windows precision drivers. Accurate, clicky but the surface feels somewhat cheap because of the texture. I bring my mouse with me to class because of this. IO: Comes with 3 usb 3.0 ports ( one is fast charging) 1 usb type c with 4 lane pcie for full bandwidth. 1 hdmi 2.0, power port, kensington lock, RJ45, SD card slot and 3.5 jack. Also comes with a fingerprint sensor, which is great. Almost as accurate as touch ID on my iphone 7+ Audio: 3.5 jack sounds fine, not noticeably worse or better than my MBP , the speakers are loud, forward firing and sound fine. They lack bass though. Things i don't like about this laptop: While there are a lot of ports, i don't really like where they're located. 2 of the usb ports are on the right side, and make it awkward to place your mouse beside because of the cable making extra clutter. The hinge in mounted in the middle. I worry that if i move the lid using the corners of the screen, I'll torque it over time The backlighting is super weak, and its red. The trackpad kinda feels like crap, but it is accurate. The power brick is huge. I emphasize the word brick. it's bigger than the power supply for my 27 inch monitor. For having a max Q gpu, its relatively thick and heavy compared to other max Q laptops My model came with a little bit of coil whine, not too bad though. Overall, I do really like this laptop. Especially for the price I got it for. After my 10% student discount and black friday discount. I bought this for $1,170 CAD before taxes ( or $913 USD). Most 1050 ti laptops are $1200 CAD so this thing was a steal. After i sell my macbook, i will have probably paid next to nothing to switch up. Thanks for reading my first attempt at a review. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  18. i have the 7577 with the 1080p panel and the m2 boot drive. My old laptop was the 2015 retina macbook and i think the screen is fine. I suggest going with the boot drive. The 1080p panel is good .
  19. definitely get an SSD for a bootdrive and store stuff on a hard drive
  20. I have the thyge desk and my monitor is on a amazon basics monitor stand. I can send you pictures for comparison if you like
  21. I think the absolute limit is 27 inches. I have a 27 inch monitor next to my 15 inch laptop and its roughly 3 feet away from my face and i can still see jagged edges.
  22. update: spent an hour taking apart the drive enclosure and my laptop and putting back together. works great thanks guys.
  23. do i need to worry about windows recognizing the data on the drive? i've read some people's experiences that their computer couldn't read off the drive when they tried this. regardless im just gonna back it up on my computer anyways
  24. so i just got a dell 7577 and i bought one with just the pcie ssd. I have an external seagate backup plus slim because i used it while i was using bootcamp on my mac. since i have plenty of storage to do most of my tasks, is it possible to turn a external drive into a internal one by just popping off the case? im scared to do it without a little guidance because i don't want to ruin a drive because i couldn't make it work. I have the caddy and cable already in the laptop, just wanna make sure i dont run into anything weird with the hard drive.
