MatthewLynch reacted to GirlFromYonder in Samsung or kingston
Samsung is actually kind of like the best of the best. Longest warranty, fastest performance (by a VERY negligible margin) and stuff. Go for whatever. It doesnt matter. Though if you find like a larger ssd for almost the same price. Go for that one instead.

The evo would be slighty, SLIGHTLY better

MatthewLynch reacted to JacobFW in nvme ssd intel vs pny vs adata
The adata and pny are mlc, while they intel is tlc, so the intel one won't last as long.
From a quick googling of reviews, the data seems to be at about twice the speed of the pny and intel drives.
So I'd go with adata.
EDIT: Sorry, the pny performs about twice the speed. Get the pny one.

MatthewLynch reacted to AresKrieger in Is my psu good for 2 rx 480 crossfire
Either way I'd recommend the 1070 as well, due to xfire/sli being unsupported in some games

MatthewLynch reacted to Carclis in What motherboard should I get?
The Gaming 3 is the better board of the two which you could guess by it's price. It has 8 power phases rather than 6 and has a beefier cooling system. For overclocking it may make a difference but it would be minor. Your limiting factor for overclocking should most likely be silicon lottery and thermals.

MatthewLynch reacted to Stefan1024 in Raid 0 worth it
A software RAID 0 is a terrible idea it you are not having an UPS and ECC memory. And the hardware controllers on the consumer MoBos are also quite terrible when they expereince a sudden power loss. If you can, use ~50 GByte of your SSD as cache for the HDDs if you really need more speed.

MatthewLynch reacted to Enderman in Raid 0 worth it
no, raid on consumer motherboards sucks
just use a single HDD
its fast enough for games

MatthewLynch reacted to HPWebcamAble in Adata SP550 vs Samsung evo 850
The ADATA one you listed uses TLC memory, which stores more data for a lower price. Unfortunately, it degrades faster.
I'd go with the Samsung one for reliability.

MatthewLynch got a reaction from i_build_nanosuits in What CPU do I get
In my profile I have my own rig, this one is for my little brother. But I have I PSU that is going to be fine anyway

MatthewLynch got a reaction from Tai Tran in Should I go with M.2 SSD ? What is the best (M.2) SSD ?
the M.2 is the type of connector. You can have M.2 SATA or M.2 PCIE. The PCIE are the fastest ones, if you want more speed go for Samsung SM951 thet is a PCIE SSD

MatthewLynch reacted to don_svetlio in GTX 980M
980m is about as good as a 970
970m is like a 960 ti
965m is exactly like a 960
960m is like a 950
950m is more like 750 (non-Ti)
860m is like the 750 Ti

MatthewLynch reacted in Ad leds to my fans
Adding LEDs will be harder, the best way to do it would get some molex LED strips and wrap them around the fan not touching the blade (make sure of clearance)
-
MatthewLynch reacted to Mug in Ad leds to my fans
It's probably best to buy LED fans to be honest. If you were to buy LEDs, you'd want to buy 3v ones and connect them in series on the same fan and parallel with adjacent fans. You chould also put in a current limiter for safety.

like 100w full load.
Depends on voltage needed to achieve that speed. voltage x amperage (core clock) = wattage

MatthewLynch reacted to Oshino Shinobu in ECGA G2 or GS
Both are excellent. The GS is slightly smaller, so if you're short on space, go for that one. Other than that, go for whichever is cheaper.

MatthewLynch reacted to themaniac in ECGA G2 or GS
the g2 is the better but the difference is small so get what ever is cheaper

MatthewLynch reacted to techguru in Windows 10 takes too long to boot
install 7 with mbr and uefi...
then just update to 10.....once you do the upgrade to 10...do the clean install..but delete all the partitions...the installer will then make the partitions gpt
or if for some reason it doesn't..you can manually do it with diskpart during the windows 10 clean install on the partitions page

MatthewLynch got a reaction from STRMfrmXMN in is 850W enough?
Thanks, I'll go for a EVGA 750W G2 then
-
MatthewLynch reacted to STRMfrmXMN in is 850W enough?
850W is a tad overkill, even with overclocks. 750W would be more suitable and can save you a bit of money.

MatthewLynch reacted to Mixzzz in GTX 980 ti or 2 GTX 970 in SLI
970SLI will be more powerful than 980Ti but it will be more buggy aswell and some games dont support/have bad support for SLI. And all that for few %? Id go with 980Ti
