Wasn't youtube running some sort of promo feature on their site a while ago? I thought I saw it on one of my random videos where you could pay youtube a bit of money to get the video to show up as a suggested video for other people.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from sfxster in Looking to replace my AIO for Air
Suggestions (unsure of price point or size preference):

    Deepcool Lucifer
    Deepcool Neptwin
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3
    be quiet! Shadow Rock 2
    be quiet! Pure Rock
    Cryorig H7
    Cryorig H5

The Deepcools are a little harder to recommend simply because there are not a lot of reviews on them so I don't know how they stack up. I do know that the Lucifer should have performance on par with the shadow rock 2.

I would recommend more but it's late and I'm going to bed...

I'm so sick of RGB everything. It's really getting out of hand and it's pretty stupid if you ask me.

I'm the only one that ever sees my system so I don't care much for LEDs, especially RGB. If I want it to have LEDs then I'm going to pick a solid color that compliments the rest of the system.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from NinjaJc01 in Channels "hacked" by "poodlecorps"?
I heard that Linus got his twitter back pretty quick.

The theory is that people who are talking about Keem are getting hacked and that poodlecorp is either an enraged fan or on the payroll for keem. Apparently Linus said something about keem on the WAN show but I don't ever remember hearing it (probably a 12 year old keem fan ran and snitched if that's the case).

I'm more inclined to think that poodlecorp is just a disgruntled fan that has chosen to act like a child in the face of criticism rather than take it like an adult.

From what I've seen, the 480 bounces from the 970 range to past the nano. With the 1060 on the horizon, and with AMd's trademark 3 week give or take driver shine, and power fiasco, waiting would be a good idea.

He only has FXAA on and MSAA is off. On top of that he has is frame scaling set to 1/2 which is rendering the scene at half of 1080P resolution and up-scaling it to fit his monitor. This amplifies the jagged edges from no AA.

Frame scaling should be set to 1 or higher.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Preston Garvey in How do you clean your computers?
I have a 50 gallon air compressor that helps get a lot of the dust out. Usually it gets the computer clean enough that I only need to use it once every 3 months or so.

About once a year I do a full system tear down and remove everything from the case. Dust filters heat sinks and fan fins get cleaned with water and sometimes soap. Fresh thermal paste is applied where it's needed, a lot of times I can scrape most of it off the heat sinks and put it back onto the GPU or CPU. Even the power supply gets opened up and cleaned inside (but not with water).

There is usually nothing wrong with it, it just needs to be moved around with a tongue depressor so it's not too thin.

Remembering that I'm too poor to even afford thermal paste I make that shit last for as long as I can.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from g12601 in My cooling...
Do you have a fan on the front and back of the case? It looks like if you are using the fans that came with the case you can swap out the rear fan for a slightly larger one. It looks like an 80mm or 90mm fan that comes with it, might want to invest in a slightly larger one. Also see if you can grab a couple of fans to ziptie to that side pannel, might make it dusty but couldn't hurt.

I only quickly skimmed this thread but I think I saw you say that you are using the stock cooler, might want to invest in one from the list below. I would recommend all of them with the exception of the Cooler Master DK9-7G52A-0L-GP as it is basically the stock heat sink.

As was also mentioned, AMDs temp sensors are not the most reliable so it is entirely possible that they are giving you a false reading as well.

My home made heat sinks for the VRMs are finally installed. Cut them out of a 2 cm block of aluminum and dabbed some thermal paste on the back.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from MrDynamicMan in What if You were to send a computer from today back to the 90's, would we have computers 10x more powerful?
No, because the advancement is in the ability to manufacture these systems as well as the systems themselves. What you would end up with is a less powerful version of what we have now because of an improvised manufacturing technique.

He has no desk so he is using it on the floor with the monitor on top. He plays DCS with the rudder pedals right behind it, the keyboard on his lap and the stick on the right hand side.

He needs to invest in a desk.

Given their $145 price tag I would certainly hope that they have some sort of intelligent charging built in.

Over multiple charges and discharges the battery will degrade, however it should not degrade while being plugged in unless there is actually something wrong with it.

Rest assured, your friend is an idiot.

An i3 will be more than enough for what he needs, and I never said pair it with a 980ti. If you are pairing a 980ti with an i3, I suggest you re-balance your builds budget.

An i3 will have enough CPU headroom to play the two games that the OP mentioned. Considering that my system has a GTX 750 and I can max the graphics in both of the games, something like a 950 or 960 will be plenty powerful.

Edit: The i5 is pretty expensive in Australia, a lot more expensive than in the US so it would take considerably more to upgrade to an i5.

Wow, 10/10 for "really good" with a rushed ending? Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but why even use an out-of-ten system if so many things could easily fall into the 10/10 range?
