  1. I think this is unbelievably stupid. I doubt this has anything to do with "player enjoyment" and has more to do with hackers handing out money that causes players to not spend real money on shark cards which at this point most likely makes up the majority of GTA5's revinue. Gatta make these new DLCs too fucking expensive to get it by just playing the game. They are already known for banning people and resetting their accounts simply because players have "too much money. Most of the hackers I've seen are pretty chill and just want to make the game more interesting for people that may be burned out.
  2. Damn... I'll just set the R7 to do the work the 750 was meant to do and use the 750 for folding instead.

If you think it's necessary, I can list all of the drives in the system but would prefer not to. The GPUs are installed in that order and I could move them around but I would run into thermal issues for sure I'll take a look if they even offer pro drivers for such a low end card.

  5. Stock clocks on the R7, and it never folds long enough for it to be a temp issue. I had it running in a system by itself and it got to about 50% with an increased power limit before the whole system locked up (assuming it is from the garbage PSU).
  6. I decided I would fight with the R7 again to try and get it folding since I did have it running for a while in another system but it keeps crashing. It seems like it is hitting road blocks and it is crashing after making two attempts to resume. Is there some way to increase the number of retry counts in the advanced control panel?
  7. So I did another Windows reinstall since I broke the last one beyond recognition and it still threw a blue screen at me and rand Driver Verifier as soon as I had the OS installed. It produced a series of crashes and generated a new dump log. After googling, I found one guy that says it's because the ethernet port is trying to go from a high power to a low power state and causing a crash. I'm trying to figure out how I can stop mine from changing states since there is not up to date driver for this thing. Also, crashes seem to be more common with lots of internet activity in the background, downloading games and watching videos at the same time etc. 091418-4406-01.dmp
  8. So i have been fighting a myriad of blue screen issues that happen at random. Some while gaming, some while browsing the web. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after 10 hours. The things I've tried so far are: - Completed a memtest with no errors (plan on re-running this test since I think it might not have run correctly) - Swapped out old RAM for a new set - Swapped motherboards (followed by a windows reinstall) - Swapped CPU for another one - Checked SSD for bad sectors - Scanned OS for errors - Tried Ubuntu and still got a hard lock So far the only thing that seems to have fixed it was deletimg files associated with ethernet port. I am still in the early stages of testing after that but it seems to be better. The problem is that my WiFi will randomly go to shit and makes it not fun to be online so I would like to keep the ethernet working. I have some of the crash logs on the computer at home, I'm just looking for ideas because I'm about at witts end. Also, do they make a PCIe network card with integrated WiFi?
  9. The tree jumped out at me! I reinstalled it multiple times because I was trying to get it to dual boot Ubuntu but kept failing. Windows was clunky every time, I'm going to swap processors tomorrow as that is about the only thing I haven't tired yet but at least it is stable since it hasn't crashed for about 4 hours (was crashing after about 10 minutes before). Is there somewhere I can get an older ISO of windows for installing?
  10. I would like to point out that I've been having the same issue and I don't think the issue is RAM related. I pulled all of the RAM from my system and replaced it with some spare RAM and the issue persisted. I've cleared the CMOS and that fixed the issue. I'm personally now left with a clunky computer. Even at stock speeds it shouldn't be this bad so I'm inclined to believe that MS broke something in this update. Windows is slow to load, jittery when web browsing or file browsing or dragging windows around and is plagued with a very annoying audio bug I can't fix. I've reinstalled windows 3 times and the issue persists.
  11. Willing to bet that Nvidia is scrambling right now to make this not work again as they've done before. If it involves working with AMD we can't have that.
  12. Removing the second card made a small difference in temps but not enough to be the cause of the problem and not consistent enough either. That said, I found the cause of the problem. When I changed the thermal paste I wasn't tightening one or more cooler screws enough. I don't know why I didn't think of that first since I've seen this same problem before with other coolers when idle temps are normal but load temps are high.
  13. To answer the first question, swapping the cards results in repeated blue screens for no reason. I was unable to fix this issue with the card but it went away completely when the cards positions were swapped. For the second part, yes there is a top exhaust. The case fits two top fans, the one closer to the front is an intake bringing in cool air for the CPU cooler and the second is for helping exhaust the hot air behind the CPU cooler. Do you think I should swap the top front fans orientation? I'm also wondering if the issue is coming from the CPU cooler itself being so close to the card since I never had this issue on the last board but there was a one slot separation. I can rotate the cooler but it will take time and involve tearing down half the computer.
  14. It's very rare but it does happen sometimes, it's more likely that your board has a fault than the CPU. You wouldn't happen to have another CPU lying around to try in it would you?
  15. Are you able to get into the BIOS or no? If your board has a dual BIOS switch try flipping it, you might have a corrupted BIOS. It's also possible your CPU is dead, they rarely show outward signs of damage when killed.
  16. The CPU is a Xeon 1650 running overclocked to 4.4 all cores 4.7 single core boost. The cooler is a Dark Rock 3 with the mounting wires bent so that the GPU could be installed. The cards are two XFX RX 480 GTR 8GB. It shuts down when I try to run heaven after the first couple of scenes. It's been thermal throttling in beat saber (which is extremely noticeable). I attached a couple of pictures to show the clearances. I've put low noise adapter on all the fans to see if this compounds to problem or not.
  17. The top card is the one overheating most, the bottom on usually doesn't pass 80°.
  18. Recently my motherboard died and the replacement board has a different configuration for the GPU. The old board had the top slot missing, then the GPU, another slot empty and the second GPU then another empty slot before the shroud. The cards ran hot but was well managed and never overheated. The new board has the top slot occupied with the first card, two slot sepperation, then amother card and one slot before the shroud. The cards are now actually forcing the system into shutdown and throttling hard. I've changed the intake fan speed, changed the fan configuration, added more fans, removed some, changed paste twice, pulled back overclock, undervolted ramped fans to 100%. The other things I can think of is rotate the CPU cooler (it is currently in contact with the top card), and swap power supplies to eliminate power issues, though they are both 850W top tier units and the system doesn't come close to max power draw. Any other ideas are appreciated.
  19. It was the same one that decided to put the obviously wrong breakers in the panel. They don't even look like the originals, at least then he could be forgiven.
  20. The way it's supposed to work in the states is that when an electrician does any kind of major work such as an upgrade to a panel, addition to a house or anything that requires the removal of walls, they are supposed to get an inspector to sign off on it. Most companies follow this rule very well, but the problem is that not all inspectors are good inspectors. Some of them only check for certain specific things because they don't know as much as an actual electrician. It changes from county to county and even in larger counties it changes from one inspector to the other. There are incompetent electricians (which GN clearly got) that don't always call an inspector either. If this was an independent electrician, he probably won't be in business for much longer, if he was with a larger company, he most likely won't be with them very long either. The electricians insurance company should have covered the damage as the would have needed an insurance company to stay in business. At least in my state it is illegal to be a practiced electrician without an insurance company backing your work.
  21. After killing my last motherboard through stupidity, I bought this replacement Gigabyte x79-UP4 motherboard. After messing with it and finally dialing in the settings to get it working I'm left with the one major issue of the system won't shut down. Doing a soft shut down works for about 5 seconds before it comes back on. Things I've done to try and fix this issue. -disabled wake on LAN (all possible combinations in OS and BIOS, currently both are off) -verified wake on timer is off -disabled resume from S5 state in BIOS This issue doesn't seem to be specific to this motherboard but given the fact that some parts of the BIOS just don't work it wouldn't surprise me if something else is going on there. I've also heard that it could be a pinched wire waking it but I don't see how that would work. If the power button wire was pinched then the system would not power on with a button press and would shut itself down while powered on (like holding the power button). I've also read that it could be the power supply not supporting the sleep state, but it did on my last board unless there is something different. The power supply is a SeaSonic X850 and the old motherboard was a MSI x79-GD45+. Looking for any ideas to try, the system can be shut down but I have to do a soft shutdown, wait for the restart and hold the power button while it's posting.
  22. I was reading about resonators on the intake to make the sound more mellow as well as some slight performance benefits. I doubt I would notice the performance gains, but I would like to mellow the sound if possible. With PVC I can cut it up and resize parts as needed to experiment with the sound. I may switch to something better looking later once I figure out what I want. I was going to make a cold air intake at the bottom of my bumper along the front lip but I don't have the means to do that on my car. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  23. Being that I'm broke, I've decided that I am going to make my own cold air intake out of PVC. Tried to buy a stage 2 NA cam for my car but apparently it's been discontinued. I think that I might be able to have a custom one made for just a bit more money but it's a pain. I was just going to give them the specs for the stage 2. I'm a bit concerned that with a stage 2 though the new pistons (if they ever ship) are going to hit the valves and mess them up.
  24. So I have my first question that is relating to my build; I'm sticking high(er) compression pistons in my engine for a NA build and the compression is going from 9.5:1 to somewhere around 11:1. My understanding so far is that in order to properly leverage the advantages of these pistons I need a new cam for extra lift and duration. I was specifically looking at Crower stage 2 cams for NA builds since it looks like it would be the best medium for street and track use. My question is, supposedly the stage 2 needs more aggressive engine management and restricts the minimum RPM to 1500. Does anyone know if it's possible to get it to idle lower? At that point I could let out on the clutch and start rolling. Edit: the car is an 04 Civic with a D17a2 head swap btw.
