  1. I put a 2700X into my fathers video editing rig and got that up to 4.2 across all cores. I loaded up some of the content that I do and was amazed with how well the 2700X performed. I would be happy if my 5820k ever hit 4.0.
  2. Mine was a terrible overclocker that couldn't get higher than 3.7 without hard crashing. Got a great 980Ti that overclocked well but my 5820k was the worst silicon lottery I have ever had.
  3. Excited to see what Ryzen 2 brings to the table. Currently using a 5820K for workstation use with casual gaming on the side and it has started to show its age.
  4. The 2070 feels just as misplaced as the 2080 and the 2080Ti. Nvidia put a lot of new tech into these cards which I don't have a problem with. Ray Tracing will be the next generation leap of computer graphics, the problem was, they seem to have this perceived notion that gamers want to be adopters for new technologies over FPS. Price is also a huge cost. I remember spending 600 on my 980ti and thinking how steep that was at the time. I couldn't imagine spending 1200+ on a GPU.
  5. If I am not mistaken, current Ryzen 2700X are on sale for around 289-320 dollars depending on the vendor. As posted above, if you find a really solid deal on a TR processor then I would go for that. The 2700X is an amazing CPU especially for its price. I have installed one of this in a video editing PC and have nothing but great things to say about its performance. I cannot comment on performance in Linux as I have not heard/investigated Ryzen 2000's performance in Linux. I don't see why you would have issues with this CPU in Linux.
  6. The way I see it is Intel has approved this document with its flawed testing results, and it is now the responsibility of Intel as the approved the release of this document. Intel made it's bed, now it's time to sleep in it.
  7. If you are looking for forwards/backwards compatibility, then I would have to agree to go with an AMD system.
  8. Yes it will work fine. I paired the exact same RAM up with a 2700X, although in a different mobo. The tomahawk supports your ram speed on the Trident Z. I honestly wouldn't been worried about the timings. The real world experience your going to have will not change much just by changing timings.
  9. I listen to quite a few different variants of rock. Silvera - Gojira Ten Thousand Fists - Disturbed Lithium - Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana Superbeast - Rob Zombie Dragula - Rob Zombie Living Dead Girl - Rob Zombie The End is Over - Powerman 5000
  10. Yes. People playing World of Warcraft were able to spend 1 hour farming gold, and could sell it for 15-20 Euro's depending on which server you were on. The exchange rate basically made them millionaires in a hour, but being a millionaire in Venezuela just meant you could afford maybe 1 Hershey chocolate bar. The price right now is 'fixed' as venezuela dropped of 4 significant digits from their currency.
  11. I would love to know how much a 2080ti costs in Venezuela... being that their money is worth less than gold from World of Warcraft, and that was months ago....
  12. The environmental part I think is key. China has far less regulation when it comes to pollution in its mining/power/manufacturing industries. Some places in China are so devastating to the environment that they had a river clog with dead fish as a result of the pollution within the rivers from the industrial runoff. American companies even under the Trump administration are held to a higher standard which can increase costs as they are required to put in environmental safeguards.
  13. I second this opinion as I work in manufacturing in the US. China has been known to purposely devalue its currency to be more competitive in production costs with other countries.
  14. Honestly, I think tariffs are doing little to the PC component business and companies are likely using it as a scapegoat to rise prices. The only exception here I believe would be case builders due to the tariffs on steel/aluminum.
  15. Some companies force agreements that disallow you to sell on a competitors site.
  16. Being an early adopter of new technologies has its consequences. You will need to be patient as the month has just started and as stated in previous comments above, Nvidia has no control on Microsoft's patch timing.
  17. I don't understand why someone would by this over a current 2700X, or a future third gen Ryzen. The price is incredibly steep for this assuming the leak was accurate on pricing (Grain of salt).
  18. The only way I see this possibly "Speeding things up" is your actions of editing values forcing certain checks to not occur within processes. You are changing the types that variables are set to which will likely lead to corruption issues if you start going to far.

    Zen 2 Samples

AMD has referenced the 2800X a few times, but they will stick to their guns with 3rd generation Ryzen probably.
  20. Then I would for sure recommend the AORUS boards. I put a 2700X in the Ultra Gaming version and have been using it for a rendering/video editing PC with no issues.
  21. The BIOS are easy to navigate. I think ASUS generally has a better BIOS, but I find the AORUS ones of very high build quality. Question comes, how much time do you actually plan being in the BIOS? The Audio is fine on the boards I have installed.
  22. I would recommend the X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming mobo. Comes with alot of features for a low price point. I have installed 3 of these motherboards in friends PC's and they love them. If you want to go one step above that, there is also the X470 AORUS Gaming 5.
