  1. A few questions before I embark on my journey. 1) do I need to set up a system to conduct heat away from my computer besides the oil itself? 2) is mineral oil alone safe to use or do I need to add chemicals/ buy a specific type of oil for it to not damage my pc? 3) do I need a motherboard tray to set up my pc (I'm using an atx board incedentally)(I'm also most likely just going to use a fish tank that I can pick up from a pet store) or will I be okay with just setting up the io facing above the surface?
  2. If I were to win this giveaway (as unlikely as it is) I would ask you brothers(or sisters) at Tesoro for one of those sexy hot keyboards because my six year old generic hp membrane keyboard is both a disappointment and is falling apart as we speak. the 's' key fell of a month or so ago, which although I primarily play Dota which allows me to cope with the loss is still detrimental to any first person games I play, none of which have I been able to play since I lost the 's' key. It would be amazing if I were chosen for this giveaway and if I had to choose a color (even though it probably doesn't matter considering my chances) I prefer black.
  3. I think im going to put this project down for now, ill come back later
  4. Actually I'm not sure how good of an Idea it would be to do that, ubuntu says its an os, and i dont want to do anything like that yet
  5. Alright i'll try, although there isnt any data on the ssd to begin with
  6. Unfortunately I cannot, and the pc that I am trying to work with is a pre-built, so I cant migrate the whole setup to my actual pc without mutilating the case, which I'd rather not do.
  7. So I recently bought a 240 gb kingston ssdnow v300 to put in an old computer, and I had planned to clone the hard drive's data on to it. When I went to format the ssd, it would not recognize the device as a storage device, but also recognized the ssd as drive 0, which I though was odd. so windows sees the device as as much storage as the buffer cache is, and I was like "hmmm... maybe its just the sata connection" so I swap sata power and data cables with the hdd I already had in the machine, but nothing happened. So then I was like "maybe its just saying the wrong thing and the device works fine" so I go to clone the hdd to the ssd and the program I am using (macrium reflect) says that the drive does not have enough storage, when the ssd is 240 gb and the hdd is only using 108 gb. Any advice?
  8. Thanks to all that helped me, i think I've come to a conclusion on what to get
  9. Alright, I think ill go with a 965 and keep the motherboard for now. if i suddenly need a new motherboard ill likely get an 8230 to go with it.
  10. so then what do I go with? most of the am3 cpus arren't enough better to justify any cost
  11. yeah ive already got my ram picked out and ill either go with the cpu you linked me to or an amd phenom ii x6 1090t black thanks
  12. thanks, i guess i read/misinterpreted something wikipedia said. it said "AM3+ is a modification of the AM3 Socket designed for CPUs which use the AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture and retains compatibility with AM3 processors. The Vishera line of AMD CPUs also all use Socket AM3+."
