  1. They're also not running on the latest OS. edit: The problem here is that Canonical made the announcement <6 months from the release of 19.10. If they'd said "with the LTS 24.04, we will stop supporting 32 bit applications" devs would have worked to fix the issues. The timing was just bad.
  2. The problem is less likely Steam and more likely what Steam puts on the PC (games).
  3. Is his degree program the biggest thing he's ever dropped?
  4. Anytime you boil down security to one factor - you're lost. Claiming it doesn't matter because it requires physical access is just silly. Literally all of cybersecurity has been saying this for a while now.
  5. I had to look - because I didn't even realize anyone was still selling Android tablets. And the Pixel Slate was a dumpster fire according to most reviewers. Google never put the effort into tablets to make a compelling product. And the result showed.
  6. While it has been long enough, I think the right thing to do was say "All programs must be 64bit by 2019 or lose compatibility with our OS" in like 2009 or something.
  7. Typically consoles are closer to the x60 than the x70. Certainly nowhere near the x80TI...
  8. Not to add fuel to the flames, but isn't Zen 3 7nm? is the EPYC stuff on 14nm still?
  9. Here's JJ from Asus saying it's going to be "more than the PG27UQ" which means more than 2000 USD:
  10. They'll blame the issues that the select users are facing on their own actions, claiming they did something wrong.
  11. I love how Trump is blamed for a trade war but China gets no blame for the Great Firewall blocking basically all American (and other) tech companies.
  12. Probably just binning and how comfortable they are with pushing more power through the chip. Also, the 3700X should be super exciting if this new micro-architecture scales down to the laptop chip... The 3700X is impressive on its own, but it's a good omen for the mobile variants.
  13. Clearly a 16 core model is possible, so it begs the question why not announce it today? Was it going to be $500 and AMD changed their minds due to Intel's recent hardships? Early July will be great. I can't wait to see how these chips perform.
  14. Get walmart to sponsor it and have them create the best computer they can from parts they can find inside of a walmart. (not just PC parts...)
  15. I would vote against it - but it would really depend on a lot of things. Which cpu? What games? what resolutions? what gpus? what frame rate targets? (also... why?)
  16. Except they won't be in 10 years. That's the point. Fat is literally killing you. But worse yet, science has shown this and people are denying it. That's the real problem. Not that people feel OK about being fat but that they deny the actual science that shows how it is bad for you. This is on the same scale as those that deny climate change and vaccines. It doesn't fit the thing they believe so they just ban it. So stupid.
  17. Sounds like something you could do with a batch file and the command line registry tool.
  18. the main reason I use Chrome over Edge is because my passwords are stored in chrome. I should really get something like LastPass.
  19. I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that the advances that lead to 10nm process do not help the 7nm process. Or in case one team fails (like the current 10nm team has)
  20. I just wonder if PCIe 5.0 means Thunderbolt 5 (with 160 Gbps transfer speed). It would enable insane things.
  21. It's two different teams working on 7 vs 10, but skepticism is warranted with talking about Intel right now.
  22. The rumors on the street (maybe that are being fed by Intel fanboys or Intel itself) is that Intel's 7nm process is due 2020 or 2021, just about skipping 10nm. I don't really know enough to know how much it matters - but I think 'RIP Intel' is a bit over simplified (also considering they have a >80% market share...)
