i would recommend a machine with 8gb of ram so you'll be future proof in terms of ram usage, my laptop is pretty solid at $250 and i would definitely get it in your position

Yep. For reference,  with 305 CAD right now can get yourself a Latitude E7440 ultrabook. That's a Core i5-4300U, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD ultrabook all for around 300 bucks CAD, or 50 cents USD. /s

Sure it may have some cosmetic wear and tear, but this is a refurbished machine directly from Dell so you're pretty much guaranteed functionally it's 100% out of the box. 

Get a cheap laptop or chromebook. There still small and compact, and you don't have to worry about a monitor.

you could take a look at a couple year old second hand prebuilt machine (2nd or 3rd gen i3 or i5) and throw a new ssd in there for a speedy machine. you can probably take a look at a dell optiplex 790 or similar for a small machine

Cloud II owner here.
I really like them, they're comfortable and really well built, with great sound for a gaming headset. The mic is OK, nothing special. The digital 7.1 surround might be useful for competitive FPSs since you can hear exactly where shots are coming from. I don't play CS:GO myself but I imagine they'd be a great pair of headphones for it. I don't find the wire annoying at all gaming normally, the only time it is is slightly irritating is when I am playing Rocket League or something like that, leaning back with a controller.

I would see if you can shrink your existing HDD partition to smaller than the size of the SSD, clone the HDD to the SSD with clonezilla, boot it up to make sure it WORKS with the old HDD unplugged, then format the old HDD and put stuff you rarely use on it, or games that do not need SSD speeds.

You will need to either clone your hard drive over to the SSD or perform a fresh install of Windows. The latter is usually recommended.

Yep, it will fit for sure as the 980 is roughly 10.5 inches long and your case is about 23 inches long (so is my D). But it is perfectly fine.
