That seems really impressive, imagine a virtually silent gaming laptop.

Linus said that his “leaning tower of titans” was “ghetto”. Well, I have a small container of screws And a copy of windows xp holding the heat sync on an old Acer Veriton I’m working on.

Had some time to take a closer look at the G5's this afternoon. One of them has a 1TB WD black in it, but that machine wouldn't power on or anything. The other one, I installed the spare ATI GPU I had from another G5 a few years back and it powered on! Showed on-screen what I assumed was a "no bootable drive found" message. Swapped the 1TB black into that machine and boom, it booted to the OS. Previous owner hadn't wiped it. Loaded with tons of apps and files. Kinda not sure I want to snoop through it, lol.

Pretty stoked though to have a working G5 from 2004, plus a bunch of spare parts.  Not sure the fans are running properly, but this thing is loud...

    50W RMS is reasonable.

My old man got his rig recently.  We got a Dark Rock Pro and let me tell you this thing is wicked sick.  It is 85 bucks but worth it if your going to overclock.  The two fans it comes with are so silent you cant hear jack sh*T and it cools my old mans 9900k just fine he has not had a single problem.  It is expensive but once again if you OC or wanna max out a OC you need this cooler as it is as big as a mini basketball.  Installling it is a tad bit more work then other coolers but who cares about that ya know.

yes, it's rated for quite a lot more heat dissipation, and their fans are better too.

    Detective Sylvie here ?

A quick Reddit search shows that you not only got 1.8k upvotes, but you also posted the same build 5+ times and were a bit rude to people in the comments. From what I can see people weren't insulting your rig, and I can't find the 1050 guy you were talking about either. They were calling you out for spamming the image on r/pcmr.
With that said, cool build. Props to maingear.

That sounds like either a bad windows installation or a faulty/dying hard drive. That laptop is plenty powerful enough to handle playing games. If reinstalling windows doesn't work try contacting asus.

koolance made one many years ago, it's extremely hard to find. in the many years I've been wanting to attempt this I've only ever seen one for sale on ebay.

I just had a custom one made based on dimensions for the die of the chips and measurements for the mounting

This looks 100% like a bios problem, since you're already on the latest all I can suggest is poking around in the bios settings for things related to fast boot.

If you're not going to overclock, go with the one you like aesthetically the most.

Your memory should work on any of them with some small tweaks.

I dont know how the wireless sound quality on them are since you need to buy an adapter for wireless, but the Audio-Technica M40x's seem like a good pair for you. I am very biased since I own them, but you can research them yourself for that matter. Also with BrainWavz memory foam earpads theyre very comfy

It really isn't worth any of this hassle, it's an old AMD Athlon based laptop, trying to upgrade its CPU would demand a lot of work and be very expensive while it's processing capacity will still be below value orientated laptops of today with something like the i5 8250U.

There's really nothing to do here other than start hunting for a brand new laptop if this one no longer suffices... replacing old HDDs for brand new SSDs is usually the only thing worth doing on the upgrading department... that and adding memory if you're limited.

I mean that's not really surprising is it? They did it with 3/5/7. If they wanted to follow that trend (and not redo their naming scheme) there's not really anything else to name it.

Even though AMD has been using the R3/5/7/9 nomenclature for years, which is a variation of their old X2/3/4/6 nimenclature from the Athlon-Phenom II eras.

I feel like this is going to cause a lot of compatibility issues, maybe if they have some sort of x86 emulation it'll be okay but only for some apps.
